one thing i can never seem to keep enough of in my card stash is little note cards. you know, the kind you tuck in with a gift or a package? recently i found some very cool 2 x 3" envelopes at a garage sale, and even though i think they're too small to mail on their own, they're PERFECT for this purpose.
when i saw pink paislee's "trellis" paper in the PICNIC BASKET kit, i fell in love with it's beautiful double-sided goodness! it's two-toned grey on one side with silhoutted white abstract flowers; while the reverse is a stunning goldenrod with a thin tracery of vines and blossoms. i wanted to use BOTH SIDES at once, so i thought an aperture design would be ideal. i used my martha stewart "anywhere" butterfly punch to make the window in the note cards, then punched the same style of butterfly in three smaller sizes from scraps.
a few tiny offcut strips to dress-up the outside of the cards, dymo label greetings, a bit of ink around all the edges and some miniscule (non-kit!) black pearls were all i needed to finish up. i used the butterflies created by making the windows to adorn the envelopes.
and now i am ready at any time to send surprises to four of my friends! ♥
