Even in a shop that sells unique and sometimes bizarre, see below :) objects, Aimee is often the most exotic presence.. especially when wearing a cosmic galaxy sweater as she was yesterday 😉 Seriously, Bazaar Clothing at Hillarys Boat Harbour has some amazing clothes, bohemian style their specialty. I do like a bit of bohemian in my wardrobe :) Hope you are having a super weekend whether it be keeping cool or snuggling up, happy Sunday, take care and stay safe..

CoeXist..
If only we all could how lovely the world would be 💙 Couldn't resist a quick shot of the car above advocating all the right things for a happy life, peace, love and .. that illusive rainbow of colours that I have been searching for in the skies this past week :) Also the perfect segue into wishing you a happy and peaceful weekend, take care and stay safe..

Chasing rainbows..
... and finding flower petals 🌸 Another day chasing that new winter header shot without luck but a trip to the city is never a waste of time, there's always something to see. Lunch in ENEX provided me not only with scrumpdiddlyumshious food, I know right :) but also a chance to experience the mechatronic flowers adorning the ceiling of the upstairs eatery. 'The brainchild of the Skunk Control team at Victoria University, the display consists of large mechatronic flower heads which
open and close to display a vibrant internal ecosystem surrounded by
colourful and delicate petals. Each flower features millions of vivid
colours, influenced by our native flora and fauna'. Gorgeous aren't they, not a wasted trip at all. Happy Friday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. big catch up today 💛

A walk in the park encore..
Yesterday morning after visiting my sister in hospital, a stone's throw from Kings Park, we stopped by for a walk amidst the calming greenery and familiar views.. thought you might like to come along with me :) The storm that was forecast was building but only came in later in the day. Hoping to get some wintry shots tomorrow. Have been reading about the extreme temperatures in the northern hemisphere, it really is astonishing that there are still so many climate change disbelievers, what will it take I wonder! Happy Thursday, keep cool, take care and stay safe... P.s. All pics taken with one lens, the new 12-200, so good not having to change lens all the time.

Ten doors down..
Walking along St Georges Terrace last week I had the thought that perhaps you might like to see some of the many beautiful doors, both old and new, along the terrace. The thought only occurred to me when we were half way down the terrace so there may be one or two sequel door posts :) Obviously my favourite are the doors with Art Deco details like above and below.. which do you prefer old.. or super modern as in pics number three and five below. We are in for more storms today, this might be the day I catch my new winter header shot! Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

Aeronautical art..
Can't believe I forgot to show the leadlight window spotted high up on the wall of the Aviation Heritage Museum when we visited earlier in the month. Designed and built in 1920 for the original Perth airport it definitely has an Art Deco feel to it don't you think :) The colours are so gorgeous when the sunlight shines through. Sadly could not find out the name of the artist who created it, not even the volunteers could help me there, hopefully relatives of the artist will be pleased to know that this beautiful work will be seen around the world. Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Life imitating reflection..
I must admit I had a wee bit of trouble myself working out which shot was real and which was the reflection when I got back to these shots taken on St Georges Terrace :) Winter hit with gusto this weekend and walking down the terrace was invigorating to say the least. When originally opened in 1897 as the Palace Hotel, now home to Woods Bagot, it was described as 'one of the most beautiful and elegant hotels in Australasia.' Thankfully the facade of this old beauty was saved yet again by people power. Back to the reflection :) the young couple standing at the lights with suitcase is the giveaway as to which is which.. any clearer 😉 Hope you had a good weekend, happy Monday, take care and stay safe..

The ever evolving Banksia..
Whenever we walk in the bush, especially at this time of the year, I am fascinated by the different stages of the Banksia.. even more that each stage can all be found on the same bush/tree. Above and below an aging flower head made up of thousands of inflorescence spikes...
As the flower spikes age and dry up they fall away revealing the fruit, 'a woody follicle embedded in the axis of the inflorescence.' The older flower parts may remain for years giving the fruiting structure a hairy appearance.. you will have to pull the shot in to see said hairs. Producing much nectar the Banksia is a vital part of the food chain in the Australian bush, I often see small birds with their heads buried deep in the flowers.. not yesterday though :)
It can end up looking a little top heavy until the next big storm comes along to whisk away the last stubborn old flower spikes holding on.. and then just when you think it couldn't get anymore bizarre...
... this happens! What can I say, Australian native plants are unique :) Have a good weekend, take care and stay safe..

You scratch your back and I'll scratch mine!
Wouldn't that be excellent if when you get that unbearable itch on your back you could just bend your neck back and sort it yourself :) Spoonbills fascinate me, their large, flat, spatula like bills are so useful . Wikipedia states that they 'need to feed many hours of the day'.. we even have something in common 😉 Where on earth has this week gone! Happy Friday, take care and stay safe..

Playing in Leederville..
The blue skies are back. Was pretty excited yesterday to head into Camera House to pick up a new lens for my Olympus OM-D.. been on my wish list for a while. The new 12-200mm lens is versatile both for wide-angle and distance. Took the above and below shot from the pedestrian bridge over to the Leederville train station. I always look out for the giants view, just off to the right above painted in 2014 by Kyle Hughes-Odgers. The last couple of shots while sitting in Greens & Co on Oxford Street. I think this lens is going to be lots of fun and useful too. Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe.. P.s. The skies are blue but it's winter chilly, always makes me smile to see the mix of coats and scarves = Perthites, and then there are the tee shirts and shorts = visitors :)

Fremantle Central Chambers..
Fremantle has an abundance of heritage buildings, in fact more old than new. I appreciate them all although some, on closer inspection could do with a little TLC. The highly decorative upper level of the heritage listed Central Chambers building on High Street hasn't changed much since it was built in 1907, have a look at the c1920 image here, fabulous old photograph. The building is 'of historic significance as an example of a commercial
building in the Old Port City of Fremantle dating from the gold boom
period in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century'. Relatively young compared to heritage buildings in Europe but still fabulous ✨ Happy Wednesday, take care and stay safe..

A flotilla of five..
After breakfast in Fremantle yesterday we drove out onto the South Mole to take some shots of the green lighthouse and from there over to the red lighthouse on the North Mole. The sky was all over the place, desperately trying to blue up a bit but generally losing the fight to the ominous grey clouds. Had just taken a few shots when look what came chugging around the corner. I have no idea what it was.. could anyone with harbour knowledge enlighten us? It was surrounded by four boats of various sizes, not all visible until the last shot when it turned and sailed almost majestically :) into port. I'm curious, but not curious enough to Google 😊 Happy Tuesday, take care and stay safe..

Elivis is on the building..
I was as surprised to come across the King down a lane off Angove Street in North Perth as I was to find the Beatles here.. some legends never die! I'm guessing everyone knows the expression 'Elvis has left the building'.. well maybe not everyone 😉 The mural is based on a famous photo of Elvis and was painted in 2017 by Perth mural artist and illustrator Paul Deej. Look at that grey sky, thank heavens for colourful street art to brighten things up. Happy Monday, take care and stay safe..
