Nicole from 99 Percent Hair Studio has been taking care of my hair for the last four months. A lot of my friends, upon seeing the crazy bleaching and dyeing I put my hair through, requested to touch my hair and were pleasantly surprised by how soft my hair still is! I previously dyed my hair a lot on my own and of course, my skills can't be compared to the professionals at 99 Percent Hair Studio and that caused a lot of damage on my hair.


This time, Nicole also identified my scalp problems and customised a scalp and hair treatment for me in preparation for the potential bleaching next month when I change my hair colour. As I face the problem of oily and flakey scalp, Nicole suggested the treatment to reduce clogged pores on my scalp. It's important to do scalp treatment regularly to prevent hair fall problems — the effects of hairfall might not be obvious when we're young but hair fall problems can become increasingly worse as we grow older, resulting in receeding hairline when we age.


Nicole first applied an exfoliating gel treatment, leaving it in for a while. The exfoliating gel, meant to soften the dead cells in my scap for easy removal, gave my scalp a cooling sensation. After which, Nicole gave me a good scalp massage to ensure that my scalp absorbed in the goodness of the exfoliating gel treatment!



After washing my hair, Nicole applied a moisturising mask as hair treatment to my hair because my hair is, expectedly, damaged due to all the bleaching I put it through.


Then finally, after washing off the hair mask, Nicole applied anti hair fall serums on me, which smells amazing! I couldn't stop smelling my hair on my way back because it smelt sooo good ^_^


After the hair treatment, I wasn't supposed to wash my hair for 24 hours. Nicole also shared with me some tips on how to keep my hair shiny and healthy, and how to solve my scalp and hair problems. She cautioned that I might see some flakey dead skin in the next few days, which will be a normal occurence as the scalp treatment was meant to remove my dead skin cells. It's day 4 now, and from my observations, the effect is minimal, definitely not enough for my colleagues to question my scalp problems or even notice.

Doing treatment to your scalp and hair is essential considering you'll be spending your entire life with your hair. The amount of damage we do to our scalp and hair by just going into the sun everyday is unbelievable! If you bleach or dye your hair a lot like me, the condition of your scalp and hair is definitely worse than most people, therefore, a reguar scalp treament is essential to ensure that you don't face hair fall problems when you grow older.

All you have to do is to sit down for an hour doing your own thing and 99 Percent Hair Studio will work their magic on you. Ta-da, you'll have healthy scalp and hair!

While Nicole was working her magic on my hair, Ying did treatment on my hands, leaving my hands soft and silky. I couldn't stop smelling and touching my hands afterwards!


Since I was heading to a summer destination, Ying gave my nails some colours that would go well with my hair. The rainbow gradiant manicure with nude base also meant that the colour difference wouldn't be obvious when my nails grow out. Verdict? I absolutely adore the job done by 99 Percent Hair Nail Studio! I love how the colours compliment each other and I've also received many compliments on my nails and my friends have been asking where I got my nails done.

The convenience of having Ying work on my nails and Nicole on my hair saved me a lot of time and the trouble of going to different shops! In about 2-3 hours, I left 99 Percent Hair and Nail Studio with my nails and hair done when it would have costed double the time if I had them on seperately.


Thank god I had my hair done before travelling to Kaohsiung — Taiwan's unforgiving buring hot sun could have given me dry and fizzy hair but because  99 Percent Hair Studio took care of my hair so well with the treatment Nicole did that my hair turned out smooth and silky my entire trip.

It's been ages since my last hair dye update — the last when I was still studying Mass Comm in Ngee Ann Poly, and now I've been working full time for almost a year! I went from dip-dyed pink to brown hair for my internship with Singapore Airlines, bleached it twice for grey hair for my graduation ceremony, had it fade to an ugly copper before dyeing it blue with dip-dyed purple ends, then dyeing my entire head completely purple. Now, my purple hair has faded into dark blue. Gonna find time to take y'all through my hair journey from 2015 to 2017 from now on :)


In my last proper hair update, I dip-dyed my hair with La Riche's Carnation Pink at a friend's house. The pink was gorgeous on my already bleached hair, but it only lasted about 9 to 10 weeks before it faded into an ugly salmon orange colour.






The ends of my hair were still blonde from my blonde hair days with Salon Vim in 2013 (yes, my hair grows at a ridiculously slow pace!) so that was pretty awesome — except that my hair was still rather damaged from all the dyeing I've done.


A few weeks later, my ex-boyfriend's mom helped me dye my hair fully brown in preparation for my internship with Singapore Airlines since SIA is a MNC after all, and I wouldn't expect them to put up with my blonde ends.

When was the last time I saw myself in formal clothes?

In the end, the blonde ends still came out to play because once you go blonde, you'll never go back *wags fingers*



I then decided to cut a few inches off my hair because I quite liked how refreshing I look in shorter hair.



The brown eventually faded to orange, which I stuck with despite hating orange just for convenience's sake. That's the end of my boring hair days while I was interning with Singapore Airlines, and my ex-colleagues were already always commenting on how brightly coloured my hair was! Imagine their shock if they witnessed my blonde days LOL.

There were three things I wanted to fix at 99 Percent Hair Studio: my overgrown looks, my bad haircut (please don't ever trust your precious mane to a neighbourhood salon!) and a switch in my hair colour.

I was bored of my blue hair so I told Nicole, my hairstylist, that I'll trust her to do whatever she likes to my hair since my job allows crazy hair colours and I don't have any particular colour in mind. The end results? I've been getting so many praises for my new galaxy dip dye hair and even had strangers tapping me to ask where I dyed my hair!

Flat, limp, over-layered hair with terrible black roots

My roots were obviously overgrown because I was afraid of bleaching my hair again after a previous bad experience at a neighbourhood salon where the apathetic hairstylist simply slapped the chemicals on my scalp, OUCH. But I decided to let Nicole bleach my hair because I knew I could trust 99 Percent Hair Studio.

Olaplex hair treatment

We got right down to bleaching and Nicole explained to me that 99 Percent Hair Studio uses Olaplex, a type of treatment formulated to strengthen bleached hair.

I've been bleaching and dyeing my hair since the day I graduated from secondary school (I bleached my hair literally one day after my final O Level papers!), and my friends are always very surprised by how well maintained and smooth my hair still is after the rounds of torture I put it through. My secret? A salon who knows what it is doing.


Even after two rounds of bleaching at 99 Percent Hair Studio (my fourth time in a year), my hair remained healthy — in fact, my hair was even softer than it was pre-bleaching — due to the Olaplex treatment.

I bleached my hair twice to get rid of the stubborn blue ends, and Nicole from 99 Percent Hair Studio was extremely gentle when bleaching my hair and the bleach didn't irritate my scalp one bit! In fact, I was so comfortable and relaxed that I kept dozing off, especially when Nicole was washing my hair and massaging my scalp :x

Nicole then dyed a shade of violet over my bleached hair and maintain my blue ends since the colour was extremely stubborn and wouldn't budge even after two rounds of bleaching. The bleach, however, did turn my blue ends a little lighter and Nicole and I both agreed looked beautiful against my purple hair.

Overdue post but I finally got down to blogging about my hair again!!! It's been quite long since I last dyed my hair a crazy colour and I think this is also one of the last few times because I have to prepare for my internship soon and probably start work after graduation :-( I was quite satisfied with how my hair looked anyway.






One day during Radio class, Cheryl randomly turned to me and said she's gonna dye her hair for Chinese New Year and I was all like, "YOU'RE TEMPTING ME!!!" So I went online and bought a pink dye and we made plans to dye our hair at her house wtf. I'm the queen of impulsive decisions. And can I say impulsive again because we had an exam coming up but instead of studying, we chose to dye our hair WTF. Priorities set right, obviously.

I didn't bleach my hair since it was already sort of blondish at the ends under some lighting so all I had to do was purchase my hair dye and off I go! This is the first time I'm dip dyeing my hair on my own but I can say that after this experience I will NEVER EVER pay salons $150++ to dip dye my hair again. Bitch please, I can do it for $10 on my own.
