We are very late with acknowledging some awards we've gotten. So late, in fact, that we're not sure we've got them all. As always, it's Blog Mom's fault. We did want to get this week started off right and try to get caught up with that.
We were given the Versatile Blogger award by Sam and also by George a shamefully long time ago.
Thank you so much, Sam and George. I may or may not be versatile, but timely is clearly not among my attrtibutes.(Not my fault.)
A teeny more recently - this one is only inexcusably late on this, rather than unconscionably so - I received these lovely awards from Hero (you have to see the artistic way he did that post if you haven't). Zelle also passed these to me, and was the first so far to include Franklin. He wants to send a big wet snuffle and snuggle to Zelle for that. I also received these from K-9 Katastrophe. I want to thank each of you for including us. It makes me feel warm and even fuzzier all over, even if I'm just awfully late in posting them.
And if that wasn't enough, those wonderful folks at K-9 Katastrophe gave us the Doggie Bloggie Award, too! That works out especially well what with this being a Doggie Blog and all. Thank you, Ruthie!
Of course, there are rules to all awards and I guess I tend to break those. No longer able to pick out just five or 10 or even 15 blogs to award, I want to share these with everyone that we follow or visit with, here or on their blogs. That's because they're all great blogs, I am grateful for everydog's friendship and I think our furiends have some of the best Doggie Blogs anywhere - even in the cases where the furiend in question is a kitty.
Then comes the part where I'm supposed to list a given number of things about me, Lola. I love that part, but I can't do it tonight. It's late and it's almost time for lights and good night and I wanted to get this up and thank the givers before another dog year passes us by. I think you all know just about everything there is to know about me anyway and if anything really interesting happens I come skittering over as fast as I can to post about it.
I want to apologize because I wasn't able to visit a whole lot of blogs in the last couple of days. Blog Mom kept going places instead of being here to work the computer for me. I know I've missed some important things and will be trying hard to catch up in the next couple of day

An Award and TGIF
Our very good furiends Buddy and Ginger have conferred The Versatile Blogger Award upon this blog. They blog at Pawprints in the Sands of Time in case you haven't found their blog yet. I think most of you have, but it's a must read in case you haven't sniffed it out yet. I want to thank them and their Mom very much for this. She's a doctor and still finds time to type for them. Isn't that wonderful? I think it is.
Now part of the rules state that you should list seven things about yourself. I did that recently for another award, so will repost that, updating where necessary.
- I'm multi-lingual, conversationally, but I only understand commands in French. I posted about that not too long ago.I hate vegetables and kibble - not necessarily in that order.
- My humans have adjusted to the kibble issue but are not happy about the veggies. They worry that I'll get stopped up and constantly plot to get veggies into my diet.
- I like sidewalks. We don't have many in the residential areas around here and I'm so happy when we take walks in town where they're on every street. It's one thing I miss about the city. My humans worry that for a generally pretty smart dog I don't have a lot of traffic sense and they have to keep reminding me to keep to the side of the road when we're walking. I say that it's not a question of not having traffic sense. What we don't have is sidewalks. Cars on street, foot traffic on the sidewalk. You know where you are with a sidewalk. Of course there have been instances where that system has broken down and cars wind up on the sidewalk or in the window of a building, but no system is foolproof.
- Cheese. This one is very redundant but no post about me, Lola, would be complete without a bit of cheese appreciation.
- As a Shar Pei, I belong to a previously persecuted minority that was almost rendered extinct and not so very long ago, either, historically speaking. All Shar Pei know this history, but some other dogs might not. We do plan to talk more about this in the future.
- I am perfectly lovely to my cats, even if they fail utterly to appreciate my good nature and behave as though I were about to attack at any moment. For Dog's sake, I don't even engage in guarding behavior with my food. What else could they possibly want from me?
- Blogging is one of the best things Blog Mom and I decided to do. Not only have we met the most pawsome other dogs, humans and some great cats, we've gotten even closer than before. A dog's typist has to pay close attention so as to properly represent said dog's words and thoughts. Although it must be said that recently exhaustion has rendered her a little...limp. We expect that to be a temporary situation, however.

Toby's Pawsome Memory "Award"
Toby's Raiser did it! She has made a photo of Toby's Paw Print memory stepping stone available to all his followers to keep and/or to share. I think she's already shared it, but in case I have friends that don't know Toby please take it and pass it on and think of it as a tribute to all assistance dogs and their Raisers. They do such a hard job, especially the Raisers, in my opinion. Like people who foster animals, they put their heart and soul and also skills into making an animal the best it can be and then, just when it's all paying off, they send their friend off, whether it's to do an important job or to a forever home. They are really all heroes.
I'm going to put this on my scrapbook page, but it would go just as well in a sidebar if it was smallified some. If you're going to grab it, I'd suggest getting the one from Toby's site. It's very big and you can resize it to suit yourself. I'm saving the big one, but smalled it down for here.
Thank you for this, Toby's Raiser. I hope you get your new pup very soon!

Awardification -Catching Up
A while back I came by the coveted Beautiful Blogger award via Toby, who awarded it to all his followers. I think it might have been his last one before going onto college. Very shortly thereafter, my young friend Booker passed it along to me as well. His came with a few rules - or, as we Pei like to think of them - suggestions. Well, what with one thing and another, pawticularly Daddy's recent hospitalization, it took a while to get to this one. It doesn't mean I don't value it. I do.
Under Booker's rules the recipient is now supposed to tell seven things about her or himself. Well, I have been writing about myself almost non-stop for the last month, so some of these might be redundant. Will be redundant. But we'll give it a shot.

- I almost caught a squirrel today. It got up the tree ahead of me but just barely. Daddy was a witness and is willing to sign a deposition.

As far as redistribution goes, many of my friends already have this award by now, so I'm going to follow Toby's lead on this one and say that I want all my followers and those I follow to have it. Also those who I visit or who visit here. You are all beautiful bloggers and I would name each of you if I had the time.

Award from Mayzie
Mayzie has gotten another award and is sharing it with me, Lola, among others. Thank you so much, Mayzie.
Mayzie says there are no rules for this award, so I want to share it with all the friends that are the stars of my day. If I follow your blog, or if you come here to visit, then this means you! I told Blog Mom that we must have a space for the nice and thoughtful things that people have shared with me, Lola. She said she'd try by the weekend.
There's other news as well. Booker Man and Mayzie are going to Date Night together. I had to do some quick catching up to figure out what Date Night is, and I'm still not sure if I have it figured out, but I did think that the way Booker asked Mayzie was sweet and I guess everyone was relieved and happy when she seemed so pleased to accept. Puppy love - ain't it grand?

Awards from Sugar
Sugar the Golden Retriever has done me the great honor of conferring two awards upon me, Lola, and recipients are tasked with passing it on, as I understand things. Thank you, Sugar. This is pawsome.
This not a toughie. One of the greatest things about being a dog is that so many things make us happy. The list of things that make us not happy tends to be much shorter. Here are my most favorite 10:

This not a toughie. One of the greatest things about being a dog is that so many things make us happy. The list of things that make us not happy tends to be much shorter. Here are my most favorite 10:
- Love and attention from my humans. That's the most basic thing.
- Walkies! I love walks so much that it's very hard to stand still while they put my harness on. Impossibly hard, in fact.
- Chasing squirrels. My humans really hate when I try to combine chasing squirrels with walkies, as we Shar Pei are medium sized but just as strong as much taller dogs. But when it's two of your favorite things at once it's awfully hard to resist.
- When my humans come home. I don't care for it when they go out and don't take me with them, but the joy of reunion is almost worth it.
- Treats. Who doesn't like a nice treat? What I like to do is keep my humans guessing as to which treat I'll be in the mood for at any given time. This results in quite an assortment of treats in the house. They really are eager to please.
- Company. I enjoy entertaining quite a bit.
- My through the fence dog neighbors. Now that it's spring I'm seeing more of them.
- Belly rubs. They are the best thing and I've got my humans trained to give quite good ones.
- Toys - with special emphasis on ring shaped rawhide, squeeky toys and, of course, tennis balls.
- Cheese. I am very much a cheesehound.
Here are the rules for the Sunshine Award
Post the award
Send the award to 12 bloggers
Post links and leave a comment on the 12 blogs
Put these instructions in my post so they'll know what to do
I would like to pass on these awards to...
Mayzie, Toby, Hero, Mango, (and Dexter, too if Mango wants help), Bolo, Lorenza, Lois, Gentle Ben, Farley, Loki and Juno, Tommy, Bernie, and the gang at ABSharpeii. If any of you got tagged while we were working on this post, well, it's just because you bring sunshine to many.
On edit: I just realized I was supposed list 10 blogs that brighten my day for the first award. Well, all of the 12 of the bloggers right above would be in that list, plus quite a few others, so perhaps we can leave it at that.
