Elephant with flowers

Hello lovely people,

I have been mostly beavering away in my craft room over the past week, although I did come up for air on Saturday to go to a beer festival and I have popped outside to enjoy the sunshine once or twice...with an ice cream of course :-)

It's a CCC (coffee, cake and chat) day for me today and I am hosting Sue and Debs at mine, so keep your fingers crossed that my cake has turned out ok!

While I am enjoying some fabulous company, it's time for a new challenge at In The Pink and our theme is...

BUTTONS and/or BOWS
Don't forget we want to see more pink than any other colour!

Our fabulous sponsor this time is Little Miss Muffet Stamps with a $6 voucher

My card is a little something I made for a lovely friend's birthday and yes, it's another elephant...well, I did warn you!

I've gone for a faux button made by layering up 3 die cut buttons and sanding the edges.

For my previous creations with these elephants I used a single elephant with one of the balloons added but this time I went for a meadow scene using the daisy stamps.

I used a combination of flicking strokes and dotting with my Copics to give the look of grass.

If you haven't already done so then do pop over to In The Pink and check out the gorgeous creations from the rest of the Pink Ladies.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Elephant love

Hello lovely people,

It's weekend time again so I hope you are having fun!

I had something else lined up to blog today but decided that since it was World Elephant Day yesterday that the pair of birthday cards I made for some lovely blog buddies were more appropriate...

I have coloured the elephants with Copics but I do want to try colouring these cuties with Inktense pencils as well...I'm pretty sure they will look gorgeous either way!

The buttons are clear buttons that I customised by adding washi tape across the back and trimming down.  The pattern shows through but in a lovely subtle way.

This worked out so well that I now need to get my hands on some more clear buttons because I only had a couple!

Looking at the photo above reminds me...does anyone else trim twine because it's too fluffy?!

Yes, I know it's supposed to be rustic and fluffy but my neat freak brain just can't cope with long strands all over the place, especially on the bow, so I always find myself tidying it up a little - lol!

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Jolly holly

Hello lovely people,

Don't fall over in shock that I am posting; I'm here, I'm ok and I have a card to share!  But then of course, it's time for a new challenge at Top Tip Tuesday and our theme is...

BUTTONS AND/OR BOWS

I had this idea in my head for a little CAS card and what do you know, it actually turned out like I pictured!
I do love Kraft, white and red for Christmas :-)

And since it was so simple, I made a few more, each with a different sentiment on the tag.  I made 6 in total but here's a selection of 3 of them;

Card recipe;

Dies: Holly vine - Memory box

I hope you will pop over to Top Tip Tuesday and check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the team.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Challenges I am playing along with;
1.  Winter Wonderland (let's get sentimental)
2.  A Gem of a Challenge (Kraft + 1 other colour - I used red)

Tag!

Hello lovely people,

Another Thursday and another challenge from us at Crafty Little Fairies and our theme this time is...

ADD A TAG

I had a good old think about what to do for this and then the light bulb came on... my fave way to add sentiments is on little tags so that's what I've done.

I have gone for quite a masculine design and kept it super simple although I now think I should have stitched around the image panel.
I think this card would be lovely as a get well soon or thinking of you card but the sentiment makes it really versatile.

Card recipe;
DP: Hope - Authentique
Ribbon: twill tape - find similar at The Ribbon Girl
Button: from stash

Copic colours;
Fur: E40/41/42/43
Umbrella: B93/95/97/99 & G21/24/YG63/67 & E44/47
Water: B0000/BG70/B21/blender

Head over to Crafty Little Fairies to check out the lovely creations from my teamies.

Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Challenges I am entering;
1.  Simon Says Stamp (anything goes with buttons)

It's Christmas...in July!

Hello lovely people,

Oh yes, it's beautiful sunny weather and I've made a Christmas card!  The reason for this is that it is time for a new challenge over at Lili's Little Fairies and this week we have the theme
Christmas in July!
Our sponsor for this week is Delicious Doodles who have a wide range of fab images available :-)

Now, I don't normally pull out the Christmas stuff until at least October...probably November...maybe December if I am being really disorganised.  Which Dr Hubby will tell you is pretty much all of the time!
So, this has to be the earliest I have ever made a Christmas card but it was kinda fun!

LOTV have an amazing range of Christmas stamps but this one is my absolute favourite and the first one I turn to every year.  I went for sepia toned colouring to complement the DP and since it is a Christmas card I just had to throw on some glamour dust :-)

I got to use one of my new dies for the pretty edging; it has a line of stitch holes just above the lacy edge but since I already had some real stitching I covered it up!

Card recipe;
DP: Maja Designs - It's Christmas Time
Fancy edge: Marianne Designs stitch border die
Seam binding: Wild Orchid Crafts
Button / twine: from stash
Sentiment: Handwritten {Christmas} Sentiments from Pink Petticoat
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
All in various combinations of E40/41/42/43/44

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;

1.  Papertake Weekly (buttons and bows)
2.  Crafts and Me (anything goes)

So, that's it from me but if you pop over to Lili's Little Fairies you can see lots of beautiful Christmas cards from the rest of the Fairies :-)

I'm off to put those Christmas supplies away again...

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,
Kat xx

Hair that is different

Hello lovely people,

I am running rather late in posting this card for the SC challenge.  You know sometimes you just can't seem to get things to go how you want?  That was me with this card :-(

So, possibly out of frustration with the card, I ended up with quite a plain finish to it but I think it works.  I guess I could add on a sentiment at a later date if needed.  I did really like the double bow though!

I also enjoyed colouring the hair pinky purple even if it's not my best colouring and I added a bit of sparkle to the bottom of the dress and the umbrella although the stuff on the umbrella doesn't show up all that well.

Card recipe;
Image: Let it Rain from Saturated Canary
DP: Maja Design Vintage Spring Basics
Seam binding: from Wild Orchid Crafts
Heart button: made by my sister-in-law
Pearls: from The Hobby House

Copic colours;
Skin: E0000/000/00 & R30
Hair: RV91/93/95
Dress: B0000/000/91
Apron: E81 & YR30
Boots: E81/84/87 & YR30 & RV69
Umbrella: B0000/000

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges;
1.  Saturated Canary (hair that is different)
2.  Papertake Weekly (anything goes)

Today was clearly not going to be my day as I also missed the delivery of my new craft goodies because I was out with Dr Hubby collecting rather a lot of wood.  He is currently in the garden making a seriously over-engineered but hugely impressive compost bin with 3 bays for compost!  And I will have to wait until Friday for my craft bits to be re-delivered :-(

Thanks for visiting,

Hugs,
Kat xx
