Junior's canvas

This canvas was painted for my nephews room.  I can't wait until he visits us so he can play in the craft studio.  I'm going to try and teach him some techniques. He's only four, but he's smart.  Can't wait to see what he creates.  Check out the close ups below.  My next project will be printing his photos so I can catch up with  his scrapbook album.

My mother thought the canvas was wood.  I had to show her the technique.  Acrylic paint was used on some of the chipboard letters to bring in the colors of the paper by DCWV paper stack All About Boys/Sports.

I'm loving the embellishments I used.  Some are VERY old.  I used stickers, metals and paper stack.

This photo was taken when he was two years old.  He loved to travel with his basketball.
The photo is attached to the two clothes pins so we can up date it with new photos.

He's learning this scripture.  The OCD in me was upset that the scripture wasn't centered so I had to include some star stickers to balance it off.  I might work on it again just to balance it off.  Anytime I can, I love to use my handwriting.

Check out these old embellishments!  I purchased them years ago.  The sentiment was from a scrapbook convention back in the day.  The metal was at  Michaels back in the day.  I love the textures from the cheesecloth and templates.

Vacation Bible School

We had an Amazing week at Vacation Bible School with our theme The Ultimate Climb.  My role was the Craft Coordinator and I was truly in my element making packets for 50 children!  Going on the hike I thought of the following crafty items hiking up to meet GOD.  Day 1 Up to Mt. Moriah the children made binoculars out of toilet paper rolls.  Die Cut with A View paper is so strong yet beautiful.  I found the perfect paper stacks in my stash.  A clothes pin was adhered to the middle and fiber used as a strap.

Day 2 Up to Mt. Sinai I wanted to create a frame to show God's creation from the heavens to the ground.  We used our scripture for the week.  This was used with Popsicle sticks and inks (they loved inking!).  They also colored the scenery and the animals and the leaf edge punch was used to show the grass.
Day 3 Up to Mt. Zion - The City of God we put together a prayer journal.  Got to love the Die Cut with A View paper!  They also included their name in the Spellbinder die along with Prayer Journal.  I used Recollection washi tape and fiber from my stash.  The animal stamps are by Rubber Stampede. It was filled with scriptures and there were two pages which they had to write the letters A-Z and their assignment was to list words they were thankful for.
Day 4 Up to Mt. Carmel the children made butterflies and the women's group made fans.  I found 100 white cupcake holders at a garage sale!!  Again they inked the edges and center, clothespins, google eyes and stickles.
The Women's group were filled with excitement, because this was their first year to craft.  I used old sheet music from our old church programs and Psalm 96:4 Stampabilities stamp.  They loved the papers.  It was all from Die Cut with a View.  I believe I just about cleaned out of my paper stacks. lol

Day 5 Up to Mt. Tabor - Mountain of Transfiguration we do not have Craft night on Friday.  We focus on Decision night to win souls to Christ.  This was the best year and we are looking forward to next year.

May Guest Designer at Word Art Wednesday

You can't imagine the joy I felt when asked to be Guest Designer at Word Art Wednesday!!!  It was my first challenge to play in 2012.  I was drawn by their inspirational Word Art and have been joining them every since.  There is a saying, "It's a lonely place when no one visits".  One thing I love about Word Art Wednesday Design Team, they consistently  stop by to visit your blog and thank you for contributing to their site. Not only do they create beautiful art, they have big HeARTS!

When I read the scripture this sweet image by Robert Jackson spoke to my spirit.  Isn't it Heartwarming?  We have to take care of our elderly.  It saddens my heart when I see young people on the news bringing hurt and harm to our seniors.  Instead they should be seeking wisdom and knowledge and blessing them with their time.  I use to crochet before scrapbooking and I remember the quality time I had with my great cousin.  She taught me to cook, sterilize dishes before it was a dishwasher and plant a garden.  They are memories I will cherish forever.

Hope you see your Family/Friendly creations at Word Art Wednesday.  They have also included a free word art to use if you like.  Psalm 33:11

Their friends at Freckled Fawn are offering one person a $15 Gift Certificate to their shop.  Freckled Fawn carries washi tapes, wood chips, cork, metal and so much more.

Bible Journaling

I've added Bible Journaling to my list of Paper Crafting!!!  I attended Ann Peace Bible Journaling class at Faith Baptist and got hooked. It was inspirational and our first assignment was Proverbs 3:5.  We were given the art to trace, but I did mine free-hand.  This is one of my mother's favorite verses.  She absolutely loved it when I shared it with her and we immediately start talking times when we knew God was directing our paths.  (See below after the bookmark)  I won a prize at Scraps of Color to Blue Moon Scrapbooking and I got Esther's stamp, Pray/Faith washi tape and the Rotary stamp Date it by Illustrated Faith.  This is how I used it on a tag with dry embossing, handwriting, stamps, water color, markers and washi tape.

Altered Journals

Hello Papercrafters!
I wanted to share what I made for our Young Women's Association mission at church.  Today was our Annual Prayer Breakfast and it was held at my home this year.  I SO love this Women's ministry and we have a close bond.  God has seen us through many challenges and our faith in Him has grown tremendously.  I purchased composition books from the Dollar Tree and altered them with scraps.  Yes I had a box of scraps and was about to throw them out while organizing and the thought came to my mind....Create journals!  They all had the same components, but designed a bit different:  Two patterned papers, a strip, a tag shape, birdcage, doily, scripture, sheet music (from our church programs), bling, and a flourish.  The stamps are from Unity and Our Daily Bread Designs.  Each sister read their scripture and it spoke volumes to their spirit!  We had a high time in the Lord!  Our challenge is to journal something good that happens each day.  At our next mission, we will share.  God is Good...Just couldn't keep it to myself!!!  Be blessed...

Our advisor Sis. Thompson is sitting down.  She's a jewel!

Praise Theme Pocket Letter

I was in a Pocket Letter Swap over at Scraps of Color.  My Swap partner was Ruby Wilkes and she asked me to surprise her so I came up with a Praise Theme.  When she received it she said she felt like she had gone to church!  The digital images are by Robert Jackson.  I added a few rubber stamps scriptures by Unity and Verves.  The image sentiment is by Diane.  I can't believe I used up the last of my Webster Pages.

Here's the goodie page.

Grateful

Grateful is how I feel.  While on my job I came across a young Christian man with an inspiring business.  He had a pile of acrylic plates that were going to be thrown away.  He was wondering how he could recycle the items.  Somehow I felt I could create something with them.  Fortunately some had four holes on the edges and immediately scrapbook album came to mind.  The size of it is a bit odd (8 x 15), but I managed to make it work.  By the way, he shared the sentiment with me.  It's a wooden  2 x 3 1/2  wooden block that he also created.  My scrapbooking sister in my circle created his business logo on an acrylic piece from her Cameo. I can't wait to share what we created with him.

Do, Love, Walk

This is the second card I made in Scraps of Color Friday Night Chat 30 minute card making.  The instructions were to make a bookmark, card or layout using the last tool you purchased. My latest purchase was the best cutting scissors by Fiskars and a Martha Stewart circle cutter.  I've had my Creative Memories circle cutter since 1997.  Since Michaels has all her tools and scrapbooking products half off, I thought it was time to purchase another one.  The first card was done over after the 30 day challenge.  I embossed the scripture to make it look more precise and hand wrote the banners to reflect the words: Do, Love and Walk.
This is the 30 minute version below

Here are my latest purchases.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Here's my take on MOJO 433 sketch.  Maxine Johnson was our Friday Night Chat hostess for Scraps of Color this month.  There were three challenges and I made it home for the last two challenges.  I look forward to having fun and chatting with my Papercrafting sisters!  Unfortunately I don't get to chat much.  After I make a card, I'm clearing space to make another one.   This is my take on the second challenge.  We had to make a card based on the letters O-L-D in 30 minutes.  I used Orange, Lace, and Distress edges.

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is close to the Bro-ken-heart-ed.  He rescues those who are crushed in the spirit.  Psalm 34:18.  The scripture is my inspiration for this mixed media design. The heart is a corrugated board painted with swirls of white acrylic paint and edged in Memento black ink.  After using gesso over the canvas sheet, I laid down a doily and music. I applied some molding paste over the TCW stencil and sprayed Recollection mist.  Gotta add a little bling, right?

Closeup of the scripture

Close up of a few causes of brokenness on the bottom right.  I wanted to play on the syllables of Brokenhearted by cutting them with edge scissors and placing them in various directions.  The heart has a pop dot along with the word Disconsolate.  The words are raised on chipboard.  I printed the words on white paper and sprayed with mists.  Fiber was used to loop the words unto a heart metal tied down with musical ribbon.

Here's a close up of the pop up heart raised up.  All of the chip board hearts raised on the white corrugated heart were nude.  I added acrylic paint, mist, glitter, ink and bling.  My colors are yellow, teal and purple although they look different on the photos.  My apologies for that.

The song is 'Love lifted me'.  It's from our church program.  I LOVE to recycle them.  Thank God for His LOVE that lifts us up in spite of the adversities and sins in our lives.
Showing a few Prima items used.  Prima Finnabair mechanical vintage trinket and Prima flowers, cottage blossom orchid. The yellow, teal and purple buds were white.  They were sprayed with mist used on the design.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you are inspired from the scripture, song or something in the design.  Make it a great day in the Lord!

EMPIRE featuring Trai Byers

We’re continuing the EMPIRE Take Over Challenge at Scraps Of Color featuring Trai Byers Andre.  I am bringing you two more creations.  The first card represents the struggle with his faith.  Although a business man totally devoted to his father Lucious EMPIRE, Andre finally seeks GOD!  The challenge at SOC was to use a die cut and spiritual or encouraging sentiment.  My die cut is a Sizzix file folder.  The sentiment is by Eureka word art.  Inside the file folder is the hymn ‘Saved Saved’.  Both images of course are by the one and only Robert Jackson.

The second card reflects his new love.  Yes it is no longer a rumor.  Trai Byers ‘Andre’ is officially dating Grace Gealey ‘Anika’.  The die cut used is a heart and the scripture is one of my favorites.  I wanted to use the double heart metal to define their love. Ready for the 3rd image?  Come back next week!!!!!

One Word 2015

Patience is my One Word for 2015.  How many times have I heard, "Patience is a Virtue"?  I've been exercising it since late August. Trying to practice self control and not complain. I know God has a plan for my life and is preparing me for my next career.  I just want to be obedient, because His promise will be fulfilled.  When I received my Spellbinder window die cut, it reminded me of a song, "God will pour you out a Window of Blessings that you won't have room to receive.  I'm claiming it.

Create In Me A Clean Heart

This post was inspired by Scrapping Everyday Miracles July challenge:  Create/Creation.  I cut a heart shape into the corrugated board.  I took another board and cut the entire circle out.  Gesso and white paint was applied to the cut-out heart.  Cheese cloth was put around the edges and I made the white flowers from an EK success small flower and put them in the heart.  To make sure there were no gaps, I added beads and buttons and stickles. For the board, different acrylic paints were stroke all over.  Then I applied objects that gave me a circular look including a brad with dots.
