GRIN. Come On Get Crafty

Tuesday, September 30, 2014

I don't do project life, but I do lots and lots of pages documenting the routine of our life at the moment.  I have a generic album for these type of layouts alone, one for my son, one for my daughter and then one for all of us.  Those albums are the most fun for me to flip through and remember things that were such a big part of our lives through all the stages of my children's lives, and the never ending renovation of our home!

I do use my phone all the time and sometimes I seem to capture the best candid shots of my kids, doing things we do everyday, eating, reading, playing outside, etc.  These are two recent photos of my son, with his gummy grin, and I just love it!  I lots of leftover papers, but hid that fact, by cutting them into strips or placing my photos over cut out pieces.  And adding some gelatos on top of that.

I made a cluster in the center using lots of Accent Stickers from the new Jen Hatfield collection for Pebbles
called 'Homemade.'  It is gorgeous!!  Lots of gold glitter and lovely colors with black to contrast.
I also used one of the Kraft Label Stickers from Crate Paper, from another amazing collection!
And topped it off with one of the Wood Veneers from Kelly Purkey for Basic Grey.

One of the things I love about Fall is seeing (and using, i.e. buying) all the new products
that were released at Summer CHA!  The store has lots of these new pieces!
Check it out HERE as well as the Blog for more inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by and have an amazing last day of September!!

Scrapbook Circle - September Sketch LO

Monday, September 22, 2014

Hi everyone!  This is the LO I made using the Scrapbook Circle Sketch or September.
I used pieces of the main kit- 'Here + There,' and both Add-ons- 'Time Flies' and 'This Place.'

This is the sketch below and you can see the original post HERE with some of the other DT members
interpretations of the sketch.  There are some great inspiring pages!

I thought the sketch with the tags and layers would be great for some back to school documentation!  I cut one of the pieces of 6x6 corkboard paper into a tag shape and instead
of a regular hole punch and reinforce, I punched it with a star.

I tucked some hidden journaling into this cute kraft bag with the polka dots.

I misted over one of the Scrapbook Circle stencils from earlier in the year,
just to give my background a little texture.

This is the perfect sketch for me...clearly I am all about layering lately!
Thanks for stopping by today!

Pinkfresh Studio Projects for September!

Saturday, September 20, 2014

I am still working through my stack of vacation photos from our summer abroad!

I had lots of fun playing with a mask and modeling paste for my background.  I knew I would being
using lots of different Pinkfresh Studio products, new and old.  I punched out the 'Happy' from the
transparent journaling cards that were part of the Limited Edition Kit.

I used the new Wood veneer Chevron drop stickers to point to the 'MAGICAL'
part of my title, the Gold Foil alphas for the date and the Wood Veneer geo tag
(these have been awesome for this trip) over the 'A' in Crazy.

I also used several stamp, one from the Limited Edition Kit and the banner
that says 'Summertime' part of the Summertime set.  I set off the stamps with the
Enamel label stickers and sprinkled the gold puffy borders here and there.

I love the Anya Alpha stamps!  They are so much fun to use, endless possibilities and the fact that
they are clear stamps make them so easy to use.  I stamped the '&' from the & Hello stamp set
and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  I painted over the embossing using the
Distress Ink/watercolor technique and then punched it out.  I stamped out my words with the Anya
stamp set and highlighted them with the gold puffy stickers.

Thanks for checking out my projects and stay tuned...lots of new stuff for October!
Have a wonderful weekend...

Scrapbook Circle - September MOOD BOARD

Thursday, September 18, 2014

This Place’ Add-ons,  the accompanying Mood Board is just as fabulous!

I was so very excited about getting the Mood Board as one of my September assignments.  I loved everything about it and two of the images were ones already part of my Pinterest boards!  First and foremost, the garland of circles in pinks and gold caught my eye and was the jumping off point for my layout.

The gold glitter circle stickers were a perfect size match with one of my circle punches.  I punched paper from two different 6×6 pads both part of the Add-ons. I used the Scrapbook Circle exclusive heart stamp to add a little extra pattern to the pink circles I punched.  Finally, I sewed all the circles together into a garland inspired from the Mood Board.

I clustered my photos on several other pieces of 6×6 papers and wrapped the garland around them loosely.  I then tucked lots of tags, stickers and chipboard all around that photo cluster.  The title is from the ‘Time Flies’ Add-on, a script sticker, much like the script on the Mood Board.

One more favorite from the Mood Board is gold glitter dipped balloons and it inspired me to dip this tag from Crate Paper into gold glitter embossing powder.  I also used a couple arrows from Crape Paper and a strip of the arrow paper from My Mind’s Eye on the left side of the page.

This kit is seriously one of my favs, and inspiring enough on its own, but the
Mood Board provides great additional ideas for using the September kit!

Thanks for letting me share my page and have an amazing day!

Come On Get Crafty - A Home Made Gift

Saturday, September 13, 2014

I love making my own cards.  To me, it is a gift in itself...a little piece of hand made love and something that makes
anyone feel special!  I also love having hand made cards I can choose from, when I need a quick card or gift tag.  Using a lot of the new products just arriving at the shop at Come On Get Crafty, mostly from Pebbles and LawnFawn.
I have made little packs of simple, repetitive cards, as a gift for someone to use in their own personal correspondence.
Especially great for teachers, who seem to write endless thank you cards!

I chose several of the new 6x6 Pebbles patterned papers in grey and teal for the base of my cards,
and made a plan for each card to have a cluster around the sentiment.  Using the metal dies from Lawn Fawn,
I cut out two 'thanks' and two 'hello' script words from the gold foil Pebbles paper.  I layered each of those over a
Crate Paper chipboard frame, a Dear Lizzy Project Life card, and a couple gold stickers from the Jen Hadfield collection.

A few enamel dots from Freckled Fawn and the cards were done.  I tied them all together with some bakers twine,
vellum and an embellished tag.  I think they go together as a set, but are clearly different and a great standby
for anyone needing a card at the last minute!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share a favorite idea of mine for a friendly gift.
Have an amazing day!

DUBLIN in a day - Scrapbook Circle DT Choice

Thursday, September 11, 2014

This is a LO I made using the September Scrapbook Circle kit, "Here + There" and both Add-ons,
"This Place" & "Time Flies."  Time certainly does fly!  I tried to finish this post up last week
and have been crazy busy...It seems with little kids, the busiest time is the beginning of school,
the Holidays and at the end of the school year!  Whew!

Anyway, I have so many photos, from our summer trip abroad, but I have been slowly putting a
large dent into documenting!  We had about 22 hours in Dublin, the day before my husband flew
home...without us :( and we crammed a pile into that one day!

Likewise, I crammed a piece of almost every product from the September kits into one layout!
It is a bit chaotic, but I love the way it turned out...

I used 3 different types of patterned paper layered to make the main background.  I used another
piece of 6x6 paper from the new Shimelle collection, with map print on it, as a base for my cluster
of stickers, paper, stamps, rub-ons, printables, my somewhat hidden journaling tag & baggie...
oh, and the photos!  I printed my pictures out in a photo booth strip style.

I scrapped, or plan to, some larger photos from that crazy day, but wanted to include some others,
to give the over all theme and a place to include some straight documentation of all the places we went.

I used the hexagon wood veneer Thickers for my title and Shimelle alphas for the subtitle under it.
I stamped lots of arrows, a Scrapbook Circle exclusive stamp, in cocoa chalk ink to help move
your eye around the page without standing out too much against the woodgrain.

There are some fantastically appropriate travel stickers and embellishments included in the September kit.
I joked that, when in doubt, over-embellish!!  I used lots of stitching in random places around the page,
connecting all the pieces together.

Thanks so much for stopping by; there is lots more on the horizon with new exciting
projects and more importantly all the new fabulous products!

*****************************************************************

Now on to the projects!  I created two 12x12 scrapbook layouts.

I LOVE this ombre vellum from Pretty Little Studio, part of the 'Marigold' collection.  Inspired by the colors,
I used a mask with modeling paste and then painted over it with the same colors as the paper.
I also used the matching script word stickers and tags, lining them all up with their adjacent colors.

I watercolored several tags I cut using my Silhouette to match as well, stamping one Pinkfresh stamp
in black and embossing another with gold!  I dipped another tag in gold embossing
powder too, to tie in the gorgeous gold butterfly stickers from Pretty Little Studio.
I used a woodgrain script die cut for my title, layered over the photo.
The ombre/gold striped washi & gold puffy borders both from Pinkfresh was meant to be!

My second layout features papers & one vellum from the Pretty Little Studio 'Marigold' & 'Silly Monkey' collections.  I love this bold woodgrain alpha paper, perfect for a back to school page!

I made a little stack of embellishments with a colored wood veneer on top of a die cut star,
an enamel label sticker, a puffy border and a scribble circle die cut, all from Pinkfresh!

I stamped my title using the Pinkfresh Studio Anya Alpha stamp set....so versatile and the font is very unique.
I layered some more enamel stickers over the stamped banners.  I cut and pieced two different colors
together making a longer label, mixing up the colors than serendipitously matched my son's shirt!
I love it when that happens! :)

Love ABSOLUTELY - Scrapbook Circle GOLD

Thursday, September 4, 2014

I was so very excited to see my Scrapbook Circle assignment for using the September kit "Here + There."
It is a new Kit Challenge focusing on GOLD!

This months main kit and Add-ons "This Place" & "Time Flies" are full of gold glittered paper,
gold chipboard, stickers, rub-ons, puffy borders, enamel dots and on and on!
There is so much to chose from and so many other lovely colors, it really became an
exercise in what to leave out!  Also, hard!

The digi-cuts included with the September kit are pretty amazing too, I cut this large one
on my Silhouette with vellum and layered it over the gold striped paper and used a star
punch in a diagonal down the page.  I wanted to layer the gold and white on top of some
black and white cardstock to really make the gold stand out, and tie in the black and white photo.

I used some of the gold puffy border from Pinkfresh Studio under two side of my photo, like a frame.
And lots of little rub-ons from the new Shimelle collection, which is awesome!

I layered stickers and chipboard and tags with more patterned paper clustered around my photo.
I love the way the vellum looks layered over the gold and black...Like the Dowager Countess says in
Downton Abbey, "Nothings succeeds like excess!"  I totally think scrapbooking is the perfect
application for that theory!

I have said it before, and I may say it again, but this months kit is TRULY my absolute
favorite of all the Scrapbook Circle kits in the past 3 years!  You better snap it up
fast and show us your bling on the Facebook page!

Have a fabulously, glittery day!

away we go - Scrapbook Circle 'Be Real' Instagram Photos

Monday, September 1, 2014

I didn't get a chance to post this earlier and now it is September 1st!  SO hard to believe!

This is the layout featuring lots of Instagram photos from our summer vacation and the August Scrapbook Circle kit – Island Paradise andTiki-Torch & Bungalow Add-ons.  Between my husband and I, we took 848 photos on our trip to Britain!  I have LOTS to scrap!

I know I will never be able to scrap all our photos, and there were so many good ones!
I basically printed a contact sheet in Photoshop, using 36 photos.  I wanted a neutral background to mount the frames as a “mat,” and to not take away from the photos too much!

I used the Scrapbook Circle cork labels, part of the main kit, for my journaling and other details, perfect for a trip!

Heidi Swapp's glitter sticker was a great match to the patterned paper I used to border the whole page.

There is so much new, fun stuff coming up in September, projects, cards, blog hops!
Stay tuned and have an amazing day!
