BEST GIFT - Scrapbook Layout - The Crafter's Workshop December 2017

Saturday, December 16, 2017

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing a scrapbook layout using this 6x6 stencil of various Christmas ornaments and several of the mediums from The Crafter’s Workshop.

I had been trying to choose photographs for our Christmas card and this was one of the ones  loved, despite it not being a traditional photo.  I thought it would be a shame to not document it and with the a black & white print, some bright colored embellishments would be a perfect compliment.

I chose to use several different colored card stocks in shades on red, pink and 2 shades or turquoise.  Next, I used the Light & Fluffy Modeling Paste, the Shimmery Goodness, and for something different I used the Therm-O-Web Mixed Media Transfer Foil.

The Light & Fluffy Paste is my favorite medium...it is like the perfect whipped icing!

I lined up the different colored cardstocks and then stenciled the different mediums across every piece, including a piece of vellum.

Using the DecoFoil Transfer Gel, I stenciled the same ornaments onto the same cardstocks and vellum.

The Transfer Gel has to dry for an hour before foiling it with the transfer foil.  I used the Antique Pearl metallic foil which is a lovely balance between gold and silver.

The foil also looked great with the Shimmery Goodness paint.  I used the scrap pieces of patterned paper that were left over from other projects.  I didn't even trim any of the pieces, just layering them under where I planned to have my photo.

Marking the places where I placed the trimmed stenciled ornaments, I added machine stitching overlapping different stitches.

Using the Gold Gesso, I rubbed a light circle of paint to add a golden halo under the stenciled ornaments.

I added some of the turquoise thread with gold thread in a loop under each ornament as a tie at the top.

I added the oversized date stamp, a title out of chipboard letters, and enamel dots on each ornament.

Thanks for stopping by the Blog to share my layout today.

The Crafter's Workshop September 2017 - Scrapping with Scraps!

Wednesday, September 27, 2017

Today I wanted to share a scrapbook layout I created using actual scraps for The Crafter's Workshop.  I seem to collect a stack of strips cut from various papers next to my paper trimmer.  I would normally throw them into the recycling bin, but decided instead to put them to use!
I used the two stencils below as well as the white, gold and two blues in the Heavy Body Acrylic paint and the White Modeling Paste.

The Crafter’s Workshop provided me with some product to create this project. The opinions I share are solely my own.

I gathered all the scraps, as you can see, they are mostly pieces cut from 12×12 pieces of cardstock.  I planned to scrap this photo of my daughter and our new puppy, named Blue, so I decided to create some patterned strips in varying colors of blue.I lined up several strips of the paper and added tape to one side keeping them in place, while I stenciled the paint onto them.I mixed together the blues and white paint to create several different shades and added Modeling Paste to give it a little more structure.I started applying the paint mixtures to the taped strips of cardstock. After the paint had all dried, I picked a few pieces to line up on the page.  I also used the leftover paint and cleaned my brush onto a couple strips to add a solid block of color.I can’t seem to create anything without using one of the gold media products these days.  So, I painted a stripe of the gold acrylic and a little more to the solid strips.I added machine stitching to the top of the painted strips of paper.Adding a few embellishments and a little description under the photo finished up my layout.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope this inspired you to use some scraps in a creative, fun way!

HASHTAG - Scrapbook Circle December Kit

Thursday, February 2, 2017

Ok. so I am a little late sharing this!
This was a page I created just for me, using the Scrapbook Circle December kit, "Everyday Stories."
Even though this kit was from two moths ago, it has lots of colors and patterns perfect for early Spring!

I started seeing this 'pineapple' quote all over my daughter's school stuff, Instagram accounts and Pinterest.
I didn't really appreciate the pineapple trend until I read it, which I think is a perfect mantra for young girls today.

I basically just created my favorite type of page, a black and white photo, (my daughter's first Selfie)
a heavily layered paper cluster as a photo mat, and some ink and embellishments!

The leatherette splattered alphas from Pinkfresh Studio help tie in all the pastel colors I used.
It is a fairly dimensional layout, but I plan to put it into a Scrapbook shadow box frame..

Slowly but surely, I am working my way through my stack! Thanks for stopping by today!
I hope you have have an amazingly creative and crafty weekend!

LIGHT - Scrapbook Circle November - Take 2

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is tomorrow and more than that, the Holidays are around the corner!  The thing I do like this is the time of year, is that I can look back at previous holiday celebrations and start to get into the spirit for the coming season!
Recently, I used Creative Team member Jung’s LO from the Spring, in honor of her being on maternity leave with her sweet new baby girl!  This is my page below, using the new November “Wonderland” kit and highlighting some Instagram pics of our decor.

Jung’s layout below is so fresh and bright and is a great inspiration for any page.  I love the subtle alignment she creates between the edges of her photos and the title and embellishments.  It may look random at first glance, but it is beautifully deliberate.
Jung's One Fine Day ideas
I thought the wood grain background with tiny snowflakes would make a nice contrast to the white cardstock.  Jung punched a lot of her shapes and embellishments that bridge the background and photo cluster.  I used stickers, and shapes from Pinkfresh Studio & Crate Paper to create the same effect.

I used a snowflake punch and snowflake die cut to create some additional pieces using the Pinkfresh Studio 6×6 pad that is part of the “Hot Cocoa” Add-On.  I also used an acetate square from Pinkfresh instead of a 4th photo in my grid.

I love this LO because it is a bridge of fun embellishments over photos that tell a story. Thanks for the inspiration Jung!
I am very grateful for being part of this amazing team for my patient family who humors my need to create and provides lots of scrapbook fodder!!  Thank you for stopping by the Blog today!  Wishing you all a blessed Thanksgiving!

favorite - Tech. Tip Scrapbook Circle September 2016

Thursday, October 13, 2016

Hello friends!  I am sharing a creation from Scrapbook Circle last month, giving a few ideas of how to get more out of your digital cut files.  The September cut file is a lovely background of repeating hexagons.
favorite_sbc_septmeber-2016-border
I began by enlarging the scale of the cut file by about 1-1/2 times the size of the 12" file in the Silhouette software.  I cut the file out of plain white cardstock and trimmed it down to about 9"x9."

I misted it with two different colors of Color Shine, Peach & Blush, blending them slightly.hexagons_-sbc_september-2016-3
I placed the misted piece where I planned to adhere it and used the piece that was cut off to trace the hexagon shapes onto the background cardstock.hexagons_-sbc_september-2016-5
I used the punch tool from an Amy Tangerine stitching kit to punch the outline of all the hexagons I traced.

I used 3 different colors of embroidery thread, from light to dark, to stitch the hexagons I traced.

I used the negative pieces punched out of the Cut File,  to add dimension to the background.  Using Distress Ink I added some color to a few of the hexagon pieces.

I used dimensional adhesive to adhere the photo to the misted cut file background.  I also used dimensional adhesive to add the inked pieces to the background, corresponding to the pattern.

A few pieces of the Pinkfresh Studio 6x6 patterned paper were added behind a couple of the hexagonal openings.favorite_sbc_septmeber-2016-border
I love the way this layout developed, using one piece as a tool and inspiring the pattern it became.  I hope this inspires you to take a different look at your die cut backgrounds.  They can be used in so many ways, only limited to your imagination!
Thanks or stopping by the Blog and I hope you have an amazing day!
