Finally!
I have just spent the last three days solidly on the computer updating the website. My hands have cramps from using the mouse so much!

Market Countdown is on......

Yep, only ten more sleeps until the very first "Buninyong Makers Market".
The sewing room at Our Shabby Cottage has never seen such a frenzy!
I have just finished these cute little framed Kokeshi's
Everything has been tagged and labelled,
"The Handbag Doorstops" have been well and truly "stuffed"
and I think I can safely say that I will have enough stock.
That's always the worry isn't it. Now, bring on the customers!!!
Can you come and visit me at the market on the 11th?
Hope you can, Kathryn. XX

The week that flew by.....

I don't normally post on the weekend but I find myself having to play catch up today. This week has just flown by at an alarming rate. Maybe because I've had Hubs home with me all week? This week was his first week working from home, for himself, he's his own boss with only himself to answer to. Gosh, he has been a happy camper this week!!!!!
I haven't seen him much, he is up one end of the house (upstairs too) and I am at the other end. We planned it that way and it's working out very well.....so far.
Anyway, what I have I been up to all week..? Well, I decided to give one of the Burda patterns (7798) a go with some cheap fabric. I made the top version instead of the dress. I do want to make the dress for summer but I thought I'd check the sizing first before I chop into 2.5metres of fabric!
This was the result and I love it, it is really cute. It is a little firm across the bust and I will increase the size for the dress. I made a 12 but I think a 14 would have been more comfy.
It has a fabric bias binding for the neck and armholes and lovely topstitching details along with a zipper down the back seam. It was really easy to make and quick!
"The Princess Cushion"
And I have been making things for the "Buninyong Makers Market" which is going ahead! Yeah for Buninyong. If you would like more information about the market or to enquire about having a stall you can contact Kylie from Blue Ginger Designs.
"The Handbag Doorstop"
loads of them!
And the Dolls seem to have multiplied as well!
Kylie will be starting a blog, to follow, about the market so when I have those details I'll post them up here too.
Thanks for popping by and hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Linen and Lace.....

I've been having fun with "Linen and Lace" over the last few days making more doorstops.
I am trying to make do with what I have lying around and using up my precious vintage carved Mother of Pearl buttons too...gasp!
Playing around with raw edge applique....and the darning foot on the machine.
They are available in my Etsy shop if anyone's interested and I also have a few things on SALE in the shop too!
Have a great day, Kathryn. XX

Updated....

The website has been updated this week with loads of new Dolls and finally some new Handbag Doorstops in great colours.
How many of you have started your Christmas shopping yet?
I have been slack in the blogging department this week with good reason, I promise. We have been mopping up vomit from two children for the last 5 days off and on - and in this incredible heat too - yuck.
Yes, we are a house full of sickos!
Anyway, all being well, tomorrow we are off to the beach for some fun and relaxation.
I really hope the sea air does us some good!!!!
I hope you have a great weekend, Kathryn. XX

I really do love pink.....

It is no surprise, is it, that I really love pink.
I have loved it for a very long time.
I love to create with it, I love to wear it and I love to have it in my home.
(although sparingly just to keep certain boys happy)
Here a few things with the colour pink to cheer you up.....

The Hairclips Tidy - Barefoot Roses fabric.

Some pretty Handbag Doorstops

The Hairclips Tidy - Royal Ballet fabric

Some new pencil rolls.

And another Hairclips Tidy - more Barefoot Roses fabric.
I hope this has brightened your day.
Do you love pink too?

Printable fabric...

After the business in the USA about painted toys I stopped making my softies (Matryoshkas, Pussikins and the Poochikins) as I had handpainted the faces myself. But I was over at Emily's blog, Ravenhill, the other day and she mentioned that she had placed an order with Spoonflower to print her faces onto cloth. I thought what a fantastic idea. I don't know whether I make enough to go to Spoonflower and thought maybe some printable fabric might be best. Does anyone out there use it and if so, which brand would you recommend?
Not much happening around here this week apart from a few more doorstops added to the shop and Etsy. Click on the pic or go to my sidebar.
The friendship quilt is due to be handed over on Wednesday so I had better get a move on and get my "strip" finished. I can't wait to see what the others come up with.
Have a lovely weekend, Kathryn. XX

A very quiet house!

Today is the first day back to school here in Victoria.
Gosh, my house is sooo quiet! It is absolute bliss.
As much as I really enjoyed having the "kids" home for two weeks, lolling around in our PJ's and watching movies, going to the park, etc... I must say I was looking forward to today so I can get on with this....

Putting more Handbag doorstops in Our Shabby Cottage and My Shabby Cottage...

making more of these for Christmas/Birthday presents...

And something that I have wanted to make for a long time now that doesn't involve pinecones or gumnuts!! Christmas Wreaths! I bought these this morning at the "Warehouse" for just 97cents each!! BARGAIN!

I have seen wreaths made from fabric scraps that are just tied around the circumference and jazzed up with ribbons etc....

I have a big bag of scraps and I'm not afraid to use them.....

I shall keep you posted...
