Dog
D is for Dog. Make no mistake, we like dogs too. Enough that we know they take more time and attention than a cat. They have to be trained and walked and groomed, in ways that Moby will never need. If we ever find ourselves in a house, or an apartment with enough room for a dog, them we may well find a dog to share our lives with. We have both developed a soft spot for the greyhound rescue dogs that are shown at street festivals here. We suspect, although we aren't prepared to test the theory, that Moby would be tolerant of a large, docile dog. In the same way he is fine with the pleasant small children belonging to or friends.
He's certainly fine with Gromit.
I've written of Gigi, my aunt's black poodle, that never thought herself a dog, but only loved chasing her ball. Which I would throw for her almost as much as she wanted.
So for all you who have lovely dog friends, you are most fortunate. As are they. Bryn, Mol, Porridge, Jess' Dog.
Those are the regular dogs here. I'll gladly add anydog else.
Like Harry. Quite the charmer.
Oh, and Chuck and Coco, over at Dooce. She doesn't read here, but I visit her hysterical site every day.

Bryn sends you a raised paw in thanks! Ah, Gromit, such expressie eyebrows!
ExpressiVe!
Back,
Welcome.
H,
I rather like expressie.
Bryn deserves a good scritch or two.
I like dogs, I like cats, (chasing them, but the ones i live with will swat me, they are tough, dog-savvy cats, but I'm a rambunctious pup! so I chase them sometimes anyway!), I love chickens, (eating them, after they are cooked), and I do NOT like being in my crate. Oh, and I love leather shoes too!!!! But, really and truly, I LOVE YOUR BLOG!! ARF!!! Woof! WUF-WUF!!

We're a two dog family here. Funnily enough, having twice as many dogs isn't twice the amount of work.
It's at least eleven times.
Ray,
Welcome, good dog.
Tattytiara,
Have you read Dooce? And how a new dog made their lives HELL? Adding a link above.
Thanks for the welcome, Zhoen. If it's okay, I'd like to follow your blog...?? You are welcome at my place-blog anytime!! woof-woof-worlf!

Ray et al,
Sure, but you may want to poke around a bit first, check that you like how it smells. I do write about the Cat a lot.
Okey-dokey, thanks Zhoen. I'll poke and sniff and generally try not to gnaw on anything! I do like cats. I live with four! Two of them, nap with me, and purr-purr-purr. (and, here's a puppy vow: I won't ever chase your cat! never-ever! Plus, I live with other dogs too! We've got a full house here! wrrruuuuff! :-)
I also appreciate the amount of time and attention that a dog requires as compared to a cat. Once I had children I decided that we would be a dogless family.
(o) and a smile.
Phil,
Some of the most responsible dog owners don't keep a dog for just such reasons.
Jess,
(grin)
Thanks for the Mol mention!
She grew up with cats as a pup, had no brothers or sisters and G and W who we got her from always said the cats really brought her up. But she's jealous and territorial and kicks up a fuss about anyone, dog cat or human, who encroaches on her patch, or even walks past. So we realised introducing a cat or second dog would be quite tricky, and were happy not to. I'd worry about all the hazards a cat would face round here anyway.
Cats when we're out and about are OK, especially if they don't take any notice of her, if they take fright and run it's tempting to chase, and she's good with kids, even when they're not with her.
Friend E had a couple of rescue greyhounds, who were beautiful, gentle and with great presence, but the first was a risk round cats, the impulse to chase and tear was too ingrained.
