A "little" project continued...

I've won a prize!!! I posted pics on the Livingetc forum of our rental flat for the "See my home" competition and it was chosen as the winner! YAY! I will be receiving a £150 Habitat giftcard to spend at my leisure. David has already said that half of it is his....ummmm.....yeah right! Happy days...

A "little" project continued...

After one week of complete and utter madness before Christmas our rental flat was finished! There were so many snagging problems to be sorted out including the lounge carpet which didn't fit properly that we were left with approximately six days to get everything finished before our short term tenant moved in. Painting walls, IKEA deliveries, putting said IKEA furniture together, cleaning, shortening curtains and blinds while painting canvases for the walls...you name it it had to be done! I ended up stripping the Series 7 chairs and spraying them a matt black because the original yellow paint was quite chipped in places. The Componibili units in the master bedroom were supposed to be black but the order didn't arrive in time so we ended up using ours from our bedroom. The black ones have now arrived so we will swap them over and there are also two more black ones for the spare bedroom in the rental flat.I had to keep the budget down as much as I possibly could and in the end I managed to do it for approximately £3500 which I was very pleased with considering we had to buy egg cups to beds and everything in between!

The "little" project isn't very little at all!!! I can't believe that it was three years ago that we decided to buy a flat with two friends of ours (a couple) and the idea was to sell it on and make a quick buck. Well as we all know the housing market has somewhat gone tits up since then so we have decided to rent it out for the foreseeable future. It's been three weeks since we completed and received the keys and the snagging list still isn't completed! Broken mirror in the en-suite, lumpy carpet in the lounge, handles which are far from straight in the kitchen along with a plethora of other very annoying cock ups! We have a tenant moving in in just over a week so I think I will be slightly busy next week. The top pic is from the master bedroom and the other two are from the open plan lounge/kitchen. We have a large IKEA delivery next Wednesday, there are feature walls to be painted and a sofa which is too big for the lift and will have to be carried up thirteen flights of stairs!!!
