Look everybody, I made an outfit!

I made this outfit for the Vegan Oktober fest this past weekend and it was a big hit. I got a lot of compliments on it. The skirt is dyed red, with a vintage border I got at a yard sale a couple of years ago. The skirt is made from my trusty wrap dress pattern, I just closed the front.

Dyeing escapades of underwear, socks, and shirts…but don't tell anyone.

Hello lovely people.
I hope your week is planned and going well.

As I touched on in my last post, I have been cleaning my place. Dusting, reorganizing, and just putting stuff in order. I FINALLY got my sewing area all put away, sorted fabric, patterns, books and notions. I feel quite accomplished in that respect.

I also looked through a lot of my clothes, mostly my causal stuff. You know how it is, you suddenly realize that white shirt is stone gray, threadbare, has holes…socks, too. Yeah, I was at that stage.

Garment Restoration: 1920s Halloween Dress

Good morning lovely people. Sorry about the lack of posts this week. I'm scrambling to get money together and I'm sure you all know how that is.

As such, I'm having a fire sale in my etsy store, primarily on clothing. Lots of dresses marked down over 50%. I will also be listing many more vintage patterns over the week. I need to get $500 together by Monday. If you can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

More Jacket Madness!

Hello lovely people.
I hope your Christmas was grand and that the rest of your holidays are going just as well. For those of us who are Grinching, have a hot toddy and chill.

Corduroy jacket conclusion.

Good morning lovely people!
Sunday was the one year anniversary for Brian and I. We celebrated by staying at home and nursing my cold. I've been sick all week and apparently I'm not alone. Los Angeles has some wicked colds that go around, and I've never been sicker (caught the flu the first time in my life in LA) than I have been living here. I guess that's the reason for more bundling up.

More jacket images.

Hello lovely people.
THis week I've been sewing. Winter is coming, but in Los Angeles, it's about 70 degrees. Sigh. Still, I'm making progress on my jacket wardrobe and I thought I'd show you the progresses.

Solids!!!

Hello lovely people.

Boy have I ben MIA lately. It's not for lack of projects, I've just been sewing for other people, repairs and what not. Tons upon tons of mending and repairs Nothing fun, just paying bills. That's the main reason I haven't been able to sew much for myself lately. Sans my tailored jacket, I haven't made much this last month.

Odds and ends of the weekend.

Happy Monday one and all!!

Oh, my, goodness! Thank you all for responding so enthusiastically and swiftly to my repro pattern! I can't believe the response, it was amazing and made me tear up a bit. It was the best etsy weekend I've had in MONTHS, so again, thank you all I truly, truly appreciate it.

Time to start getting ready!

I saw this at Target the other day when I was going to buy Brian a body pillow.
He always scratch at the comforter in the living room
I've made into a bed and bunches it up for support.

Sweaters part 2: Nip and tuck

Happy Monday.

It's still strange for me to sink in the new year. I know it will take a while to write the new date, but sometimes I keep thinking, geee, when is stuff going to start? I plan on doing a goals for the year post shortly, but this post is about sweaters.

Sweaters part 1: more dyeing more fashion

You all know I love sweaters. I am always wearing one (like right now) and I find them a great accessory that's quick, warm and easy.

I'm a Land's End whore. I am. I go to their clearance webpage, and I'll get 4 $11 all cotton sweaters for a song. I've sone it twice now. This go around I got a cotton wrap over blouse sweater. Super cute. I bought 4, all white. Well, cream. But the key is 100% cotton, which means dyeable.

This was my first time dyeing something in this new apartment. I was very worried about the process. I didn't want to splash dye everywhere, and more importantly, I didn't want to stain my lovely, lovely sink.

I got pretties!!

Good happy Friday everyone. Whew. I know it seems redundant, but I am still recovering from the last couple of weekends. From work to dance class to extra sewing projects to cooking (made pesto for the first time) to build up of a lot of stuff, to cleaning...geeze. It just kept going and going.

BUT NOW!!!! I feel things have slowed down a bit and
I can get back on track to my normal creative schedule. Yay!

First things first. I bought myself some pretties.

Thread!!!
I wanted to get a decent spectrum of thread for my serger and
I decided to invest in some spools.
I love stocking up.

My peacocks need a new home.

I've had this green sweater for a few years. It was a discount department store find, a few dollars, a nice dark color, and seemed to work with a lot in my wardrobe. This was when I was starting out in the vintage. I decided to pick up some appliques and deck the puppy out. It looked even better after that, but there was one problem after all these years of wear.

Once, twice, three dyes a lady.

Sweaters are done!
As you all know, I decided to re-dye that navy one with a more 'blue' dye. Welp, success!

I am very happy with the outcome. It is a bit lighter than I thought it was going to turn out, but the color is even and smooth and I used some of my most wicked 20s buttons on it, so yeah, it was worth it.

The dyeing was a success!

Here is the re-dye of the botched RIT sweater from the other day. The outcome is really more orange than this salmon color pictured, but you get the idea.

This weeeeeekend!

Whew! *cough*
That pretty much sums up my weekend.
This drawing got me the job! Thanks, The Lady!
