Less is More Challenge #456

Good morning

Welcome to Saturday and a new challenge over at Less is More.  Today it's a Theme challenge, here's the cue card...

We have our September winner joining us as a Guest Designer today, the super talented and wonderful CAS card creater, Asa.  Please do pop over to her blog to take a look at her card and to say hi.

As always at this time of year I'm behind with making my Christmas cards so if the theme fits, that's what I'm making! :)

I began with a die cut stitched rectangle and then ink blended the skyline.  I figured out where the tree and mouse would be stamped and added a little ink blending to ground them.  These were then both stamped in black.  Next I sprinkled over some embossing enamel to create some snow, heating from the underside so the heat gun didn't blow it out of position.  I then adhered the panel onto the card base using fun foam before stamping the sentiment below.

Materials used:
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles
  • Ink: Versa Color - Neptune, Heliotrope, Lilac; Versafine Clair - Nocturne
  • Stamps: Card-io - Magical Christmas (mouse); Woodware - Three Trees; Simon Says Stamp - Happy
  • Accents: Stampendous Deep Impression Embossing Enamel - Chunky White

Challenge entries:

Stamping Sensations - November Challenge - Christmas
We Love Stamping - November Challenge - Christmas
Happy Little Stampers - November Christmas Challenge - Anything Goes: Make a Scene

There's lots of inspiration from my teamies over at the Less is More challenge blog, and as always the challenge link is open for two weeks.  Hope to see your cards in the gallery.

Perfectly CAS April 2021 Challenge

Hi there

The April challenge at Perfectly CAS is now up and running and here's this month's cue card...

After making this card I've realised I'm just a touch over the 1/3 rule.  If I'd brought my masking tape in a few millimetres it would have complied!  So please follow the challenge guidelines, and don't do as I've done! lol

These dragonflies are so cute though...

I first masked off a vertical section of the card base and ink blended the background with a cloud stencil and added a little green ink at the base.  Next I stamped and coloured all the images with Copics before die cutting with their co-ordinating dies.  The grass and bulrush images were adhered flat at the base and the dragonflies were popped up on 3D foam.  The simple sentiment, from a different set, was then stamped in black and I added some sparkle to their wings using a shimmer pen.

Materials used:
  • Stencil: My Favourite Things - Mini Cloud Edges
  • Ink: Distress Oxide - Tumbled Glass, Cracked Pistachio; Memento - Tuxedo Black; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Stamps: Pretty Pink Posh - Darling Dragonflies (and co-ordinating dies); Simon Says Stamp - Baby (hello sentiment)
  • Coloured with Copic markers: E15, BV02, BV04, YG09, YG17, BG000, BG13, BG15
  • Accents: Spectrum Noir Shimmer Pen - Clear

Challenge entries

CASology - Week 388 - Hello
Happy Little Stampers - April Stencil Challenge - Anything Goes
NBUS - Challenge #25 - first use of the dragonfly stamps and dies sets

As always with Perfectly CAS, the challenge will close a couple of days before the next one goes live so you have almost a month to play along.  I hope you can join in.

Feline 50

Hi there

This is a card I made earlier in the year for a friend celebrating her 50th birthday.

She is a cat-lover so a kitty just had to feature in the design...

I began with a die cut panel and stamped the kitty image off the bottom edge, then the sentiment which is part of a longer stamp.  Next I stencilled the balloon off the top edge, adding light and shade with the blending, before then stamping the numbers on the balloon.  I used a black fine liner pen to hand draw the balloon string ties around the balloon and the cat's tail.  To finish, I coloured the cat and the box with Copic markers and adhered the panel flat to the card base.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Simon Says Stamp - Furry Cat & Box; Lawn Fawn - Scripty Sayings; Clearly Besotted - Got Your Number
  • Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black; Versafine - Onyx Black; Distress Ink - Picked Raspberry
  • Stencil: MFT - Big Balloons
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles
  • Coloured with Copics

Challenge entries:

Cupcake Inspirations - Challenge #514 - Cats
NBUS - Challenge #24 - First use of the kitty stamp which I bought in a de-stash sale
STAMPlorations - March Theme & Photo Challenge - 'Stamps and Numbers'

Thanks so much for popping by, I'll be back very soon with more to share.

Less is More - Challenge #438

Hi there

Over at Less is More the new challenge starting today is a Theme challenge, and here's the cue card...

It's not often I have a card already lined up as my Design Team sample ahead of time but a special friend of mine gave birth to a sweet baby girl last month so this was the card I made to mark her arrival :)

This one was unusual for me as it uses an A5 card base.  The majority of my makes are A6 as I struggle to fill such a large space when making CAS cards but I was really pleased with this one, although I did faff about with it for some time!

I die cut the focal panel with a stitched rectangle die.  'Baby' was stamped and embossed in white before ombre ink blending in pink and then I cut it out with the co-ordinating die.  Before popping this up on 3D foam I positioned it and stamped the words in black around it.  Next I printed her name and arrival date onto some cardstock and die cut it out using a stitched heart die, and cut another which I also ombre ink blended in pink.  I added a layer of cardstock with embossed stripes to the card base then adhered the focal panel on fun foam.  I layered and adhered the hearts offset and then to finish, I added some clear droplets and a button.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Clearly Besotted - On The Shelf (baby), Special Delivery (girl); Simon Says Stamp - Baby (precious)
  • Dies: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles; Clearly Besotted - On The Shelf; MFT Die-namics - Stitched Heart Stax
  • Ink: VersaMark; Distress Ink - Spun Sugar; Versafine - Onyx Black
  • Embossing Powder: Brutus Monroe - Alabaster White
  • Accents: Little Things from Lucy's Cards - Raindrops
  • Cardstock and button from stash

Less is More Challenge #423

Good morning

Less is More is back with a new challenge today and we have a Colour challenge for you this time.  Here are the details...

Our generous sponsor for the month of July is CAS-ual Fridays Stamps so by playing along will put you in the running for our monthly prize.

I found this colour combo a bit daunting when I first saw it but then ended up making two cards!  Here's the first one, super simple...

I'm a bit addicted to using a stitched upper panel aren't I!  All of the images and sentiment were from the same set, all stamped here in black, and the images were coloured with ProMarkers.  The panel was adhered on foam and...that's it!

Materials used:
  • Stamps: MFT - Adorable Elephants
  • Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black
  • Die: Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles
  • Coloured with ProMarkers

Now, this next one took a while but I love the result...

I had this stamp set on my wish list for a very long time and eventually bought it (together with lots of other bits that fell into my online basket!).  This layering set is beautiful but there are so many different parts to stamp, and I didn't manage to align some parts perfectly in places but overall I'm happy with it and will be trying it with different colour combos.  Once stamped the flowers and leaves were die cut with the co-ordinating dies.  They were layered onto a die cut rectangular panel (shocker!) and the sentiment was stamped in a matching grey before popping the panel up on fun foam.

Materials used:
  • Stamps: Altenew - Build-a-Flower: Peruvian Lily; Simon Says Stamp - Birthday Messages
  • Ink: Altenew - Razzleberry, Rubellite, Pinkalicious, Warm Sunshine, Maple Yellow, Honey Drizzle, Sunkissed, Paper Bag, Lava Rock, Industrial Diamond, Silver Stone, Limestone
  • Dies: Altenew - Build-a-Flower: Peruvian Lily; Create a Smile - Cool Cuts Double Stitched Rectangles

As always, the challenge linky will stay open for a fortnight.  And if you need more inspiration, please do pop over to the main challenge blog and take a look at the great makes from my teamies.  I'm looking forward to seeing the gallery of this colour combo!
