Catching up

Sometimes I feel like I am always catching up. I won't bore you with too many of the details I would like to give you some of the highlights of the last 3 weeks though.

1) My birthday was GREAT!! We stayed at the Airport Hilton in SLC, thanks to Nate's Marriot points. We ate at MacCool's. An excellent Irish restaurant in Layton. It is so good, I have never had anything I don't like and I've never been with anyone who did. The service is great, you never have to wait to get seated, even on Valentine's Day. We love it! Anyway, we did that Friday night, we got to the Hotel late and Nate totally crashed. He had been up all night (literally he didn't sleep a wink the night before thanks to W.O.W and Jason Wheeler). So much for our romantic get away. Saturday morning we woke up late, got ready went to Red Rock Brewery for lunch. I got the vegetarian roulade. I have been craving it for about a year now. It was totally worth it. So good. We then went to see "The Producers" at the Pioneer Theatre Company. It was SO funny. It's by Mel Brooks so if you don't appreciate a little (or a lot) of crude humor I wouldn't recommend it. Nate and I laughed until it hurt. Some of the stuff they pull off is amazing. Sometimes I was totally shocked but couldn't stop laughing. Let me just say this, there is a point in the show where a girl walks out wearing swastica pasties that are spinning. I'll leave it at that. That night we did some shopping at the Gateway and ate at a sports bar. It was great! We slept in Sunday morning and came home and picked up Max from my mom. Thanks mom for watching him for us. It was a great gift. That night my mom made dinner for my birthday as if she hadn't already done enough. The whole family came (minus Rich and Juli and kids). It was BethAnne's boyfriend's daughter's birthday that day so they brought her up and we had a little celebration for her too. She got presents and a cake and she played with the kids, I think she had a good time. Thanks Mom, Your the best!

2) Nate's parents stayed with us last week. It was great to see them. We have seen them more since they moved to the states but a couple times a year just isn't enough still. It was so nice to have them. They are such great house guests and so much fun. We went shopping (mom and I), we hung up some drapes (Thanks Dad), we went for walks with Max, we sat around and talked, we stayed up late and got up early. It was a pretty fun week. They were actually going to stay the week before and be in Boise last week, but they heard that Nate was going to be in town last week so they switched their plans which worked out really well since Max was sick all week anyway. They got spend time with Nate and Max when he was healthy. Nate was really happy to have some time with them. He still had to work during the day which was really hard since he works from home and we were all there talking and laughing and having a good time and he was stuck in his office. Oh well, you can't have everything. It looks like they aren't going to be able to come back for about 18 months since they will be getting a mission call here pretty soon. Love you guys!

3) We did the race for the cure on the 10th (Saturday). It ended up being more then a little controversial at my house. We did it anyway. I really think it is for a good cause, even if it is a misnomer and only a quarter of the money (or less) goes to actually finding a cure and most of it goes to early detection, treatment and education. And even if they do donate some of their money to the Gay and Lesbian foundation. I think cancer sucks! Wouldn't you say so Kate. And any foundation that is doing something to make a difference for all the people out there who get it is doing a good thing and I will support it. So we did the Race For the Cure. I tell you I have never seen so many people at a race before. I haven't run very many races and not many really big ones but there were a lot of people there. I was running to the finish line and there was still a whole street full of people who were just barely starting. It was crazy. I loved it! I love all the energy of so many people doing something together. We ran with Max. Well, Nate ran with Max. I think Max had a good time, he likes to have people around. He wanted to get out of the stroller after sitting at the finish line for 45 minutes but he was pretty good. We also ran with Lonnie and Glenn, they brought all 3 of their kids and ran with them which is really impressive I think. My cousin Jolynn ran it too. We started together and ended near each other but got lost in the massive crowds of people and didn't see each other again.

I think that is all the major news. The really good news is that Max is better! Yeah! I hate it when he is sick and I can't do anything for him. He is back to his happy, mischievous ways and I couldn't be happier. He is so much fun and so smart. He makes me laugh all the time. He has developed quit the sense of humor. It is really funny, and his laugh is so cute I can't help but laugh (see previous post)even when he is in trouble. I love it. Sorry this is so long, if you are even still reading this. Enjoy the pictures!
