Scarecrow and Blog Candy

001 copy

The days of 2012 just seem to be flying by.  I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving and then Christmas.  This week I chose this sweet little scarecrow stamp.  I am not sure where I got this as it is unmounted. He is perfect for the fall weather we are having.  I just finished up pulling up all my garden goodies and getting it ready for winter hibernation.

The winner of last week's blog candy is...#5

Gorgeous and adorable, Dawn! Love the sparkle, too. Sorry for your friend's misfortunes. I hope her fight from breast cancer is successful and they recover quickly from Sandy, also.

Lynette you are the lucky winner of a $20 online gift certificate to any crafty store.  Just email me at dawnburnworth@yahoo.com.

Next week I am offering up my giving thanks blog candy. I feel so blessed to have you all visit me here each week. I know I don't get around to blogland much.  My daughters are all coming for a week to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am doubly blessed.   Please leave a comment for the opportunity to win another $20 gift certificate to any online stamping/crafting store.

I had created a few cards last week just for fun.  I have always loved scarecrows and have several different stamps that were begging to be inked.  This one is from High Hopes.

This one is also from High Hopes and one of my favorite.

That's it from me...Hope you are having a terrific week..

Christmas RAK's

Clear Dollar Stamps is hosting a new Weekend Challenge called Clearly Inspired.  I created this card for the first challenge.  We were to use 5 of anything.. I used 5 squares.  Check it out.  There is a huge celebration going on for Clear Dollar Stamps 5th birthday.  This is a newly released set created by the fabulously talented Wendy Hall.  So grab your CDS stamps and come join the challenge to Give Me Five.
This first card is going as a RAK to a family back in my home town that have a daughter named Sydney.  She  is in her final days and they  are celebrating Christmas.   Here is their story:  Sydney Ives

This second card is for several challenges:

High Hopes challenge this week is to create a card with a card with a snowflake.  My designer paper has snowflakes..

These both qualify for the Stampin B's challenge this week.. Hosted by Faith to make a Christmas card. Check out their fun challenge Blog.  The white paper I used on the HH card is from Mark's Finest Papers.  It is so awesome for copics.

This also qualifies for The Cute Daisey May challenge to create a BLUE Christmas card.

Then there is the LSC on Splitcoast.   Silvia challenged us to create a card for a sweet little boy named Noah that is battling cancer.  He is in his final days and his family is celebrating Christmas this week.    If you too would like to send a card you can read about Noah here:  Noah Biorkman

Have a terrific weekend and give your kids a hug...

This week's High Hopes Challenge was to Wrap It Up hosted by Diva Inge.. I decided to get this Birdie Friends Snowlady inky. I have had her since last year and I LOVE snowpeople. I used her to create my little gift bag. I am going to make an ornament to go inside for a dear friend for Christmas. Go on over and join the fun on the High Hopes Blog..

Thanks Michelle

I have been working on this card all week. My friend and High Hopes Diva Michelle is hosting the challenge and I wanted to play. I have never participated in the HH challenge before. This weeks challenge was to Fall Into Autumn. I am sending out a huge hug to Michelle. She answered about a million questions from me on Prisma Coloring. She is super sweet and a very special friend... I am also really excited because 7kidscollegefund is going to be offering the HH stamps soon.

I am sending this off to my dad for Grandparents Day.. Hope it gets there by Saturday.

Teapot Tuesday

Cindy Motherway does a really fun challenge on her blog each Tuesday. She gives you a teapot and a story to be inspired by. This week it was a snail teapot. We all take a trip with her teapot too. This week we were to go to the Tour De France. I love Lance Armstrong's will and determination. I was sad to see him injured in this race. The journey for him must be incredible. Anyway, Cindy was watching the race and saw a huge group of snails crossing the road. Hence, her teapot challenge this week is a snail teapot. Here is all the info:

Lucky

Today's Twisted Sister Challenge was to create a card that brought back a memory.

I grew up on a family farm. My dad has been a farmer for 54 years. When I was about 7 my dad took me to the local sale barn to buy me a spring calf. He took me out to the back of the barn and showed me all of the calves and said pick any one you want. I saw a little black calf with a white face. He was adorable. My dad said now you get to get a number and bid on him. So off we went. Now mind you there were hundreds of calves in this lot. So we sit down and I have my number. I am all proud. Calves were sold for around $25. The bidding starts and calf after calf sells for around that price. It comes time for me to bid. I bid $20..$25..$30..$50..$100... Someone else wanted this calf too. My dad saw how much I wanted that baby calf. He bought that calf for $125. 5 times the amount the other calves all went for. I am still to this day amazed that my dad let me do this. He could have so easily made me quit bidding and bought another calf for less...

I named that calf Lucky. I think I was the lucky one.....

This is one of my favorite memories of my dad and I...

I changed my Riley to a Riletta.. LOL. I needed a girl hugging that calf.

Have a great stamping day...

Got Snow

Another really fun company is High Hopes. They have some fantastic whimsical images. This one is Moriah... I did this for the most recent High Hopes Challenge. It was to use torn paper on your card. Colored with pencils and GooGone.
