Dream, Explore, Discover

Hey there!
Lisa here today to share a post with you.
This week the My Scraps & More Design Team are sharing 12x12 layouts we created using 6x6 paper pads. I had the pleasure of working with Fancy Pants Makin' Waves paper pad. Fancy Pants is my favorite company to create with and this line is awesome! I have been loving using the 6x6 paper pads to create layouts and now have several in my stash.
I actually created 2 pages with the Fancy Pants Makin' Waves 6x6 paper pad. The first one I kept fairly simple and used a grid for my base:

I wanted to create movement across the top of my page with an arrow, but the 6x6 papers were not long enough, so I decided to do a broken arrow using a few strips of the red anchor paper. I think it added more movement than a solid arrow would have. I love the look!

I used wallet sized photos and cut the papers to match that size to create my grid:

Then I just added a few of the Project Life cards (my title "Dream, Explore, Discover" was a card I cut in thirds) , some stitching and a few other simple embellies and my layout was complete:

My second layout is not as simple, but still shows some easy ways to use the 6x6 papers.
The first thing I did was cut the clouds and waves using my Cameo. Then I backed them with some 6x6 papers and trimmed. I added a few more of the papers  as layers behind my photo and stitched. I cut the sun with my Cameo also and then used a scalloped circle punch and punched the orange 6x6 paper. I cut the scalloped part of the circle off and used that in 2 pieces- the bigger piece to the right top of my photos and the smaller piece on the lower left hand side of my page. The circle that was left, I added to the inside of my sun.:

I added some stitching to hold my waves in place. The anchor button is from the Fancy Pants Makin' Waves button pack:

Here is a closer look at the clouds and scalloped circle:

and a close up of the sun:

I hope with this post, you learned a few new ways to use the 6x6 paper pads and will use them more often to create 12x12 layouts! They really are fun to use because they have smaller patterns and aren't quite as busy as the 12x12 papers we use all the time.

Custom Doilies with Heidi Swapp Color Shine

Hi there, Lisa S here today to share a quick little technique to get you customizing your doilies to match any line of paper.

I love to use Doilies and have a bunch of different sizes and styles in my stash, but the thing is, they are all white.  Sometimes, it is fun to customize the doilies so that you match your paper line as I did for this quick card made from the Fancy Pants True Friend Collection and the Mint Green and Tropical Teal Mists by Heidi Swapp.  Here is where you can find all the colors of Heidi Swapp Color Shine. There are colors to match any line of paper!

To customize my Doilies, I have found it is best to not spray the Mist directly on the doily as it soaks up a ton of it and it can tear the doily just even dabbing it off.  To reduce waste and get a more interesting look, I like to spray the mists onto plastic packaging and dab the doily in it...

A quick hit with my heat gun sets it and drys it nicely and there you have a custom doily for any project!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Happy Summertime!

Hi there friends!  I'm here to share one last Just Nick cut file page with you today!
I used the Wobbly Circles file and some Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy products from the My Scraps & More shop!

I actually welded three of the shapes together and then cut a 4th one up into individual circles.  I backed the circles with patterned paper and then just added a few embellies and stitching here and there.

I also used the Ink Splats cut file, too, and cut out some small splatter from grey cardstock.  Don't you think it would be a great idea to cut out a whole bunch of ink splotches from black, white, and grey (and other colors) and just have them on hand, or take them with you when you go to a crop and don't want to bring your paint or mists?

You MAY have a last chance to enter the $20 My Scraps & More giveaway by leaving a comment on THIS blog post on the Just Nick blog....but you'd better hurry!

The Best Ever

Hello friends!  Happy Saturday to you! Jennifer here today to share a layout I created using
Fancy Pants Designs' Flutter collection from the My Scraps and More shop!  The colors of this line have just enough girly without going overboard! And the patterns are amazing!  I love the multicolored pages the best!

Flutter comes with lots of embellishments including Ephemera and cute coordinating Flair!  I layered a few pieces under my photo and added journaling.

For my background, I used a cut file and added different patterned papers into random triangles.  I also layered more of the coordinating die cuts and stickers from Flutter above my photo.

Here, I adhered a few of the small colored and gold circles from the Ephemera pack. I also added some sequins from my stash as well.

I used a wood grain embossing folder for a few of my triangles to give texture to my cardstock.

Thanks for reading!  Stop by the MSAM shop to see this and all of the NEW collections!
Have a great day!

Get Scrappy!

A few days ago in the Forum, we had a discussion about how we store our scraps.  It got me thinking about it, because I really don't keep scraps...what do I do with them?  Oh, yes, I make a quick card!

One of the reasons I don't have scraps for the Fancy Pants True Friend line is because instead of getting all 12 x 12 papers, I chose the 6 x 6 pad.  It's a great way to get the whole range of papers without buying them all.  And in 5 minutes flat I have a great multi use card.  So don't pack away your scraps, use them up while they are still on your desk!

Are you getting snow???

So sorry this post is getting up late today!  It's been one of THOSE Mondays...the kind where I forgot it was Monday!!

Believe it or not, it's been a relatively SLOW winter in terms of our snowfall here in central NY state.  We are well below average, but that may still be a lot for some of you (as I live in one of the snowiest cities in the US, according to the Weather Channel!)

Anyways, I love how the white snow in a photo just makes it so so bright, so I used some Gossamer Blue Get Happy with it's bright colors to go along with my photos!

The snowflake paper in the background was a bit busy, so I used a plain white cardstock behind my photos and just a few strips of paper.  The "sweater" looking paper is from the Fancy Pants Oh Deer collection!

I also used some other bits from my stash, including some old Crate Paper Bundled Up, and some clear snowflakes from Studio Calico.  I stitched two circles behind the photos to pickup on the "snowball" theme!

Embrace life's blessings

Happy Sunday friends old and new! I (Brianna) am so excited to share my first project as a new designer. There are so many awesome products in the store right now, but I just knew I had to use the new October Afternoon Public Library product to create my first layout of the year. I have always loved their product, and this line is no exception.
I created this page using my personal chosen OLW: Embrace, which I hope to remember to do on all aspects in my life this coming year. I just had to use this photo snapped of the family feet on Thanksgiving day. Using my new Cameo(eek) I created a pattern throughout my patterned paper with this scribbled circle shape, and backed it all with the amazingly fun Fancy Pants corrugated paper. I added a bit more movement with more dots from my punches, some gold paint specks, and some perfect little Brads, also from the new Public Library Line.
How great is that corrugated paper! I loved playing with it and it was a great stand out product for this layout!
I hope you like my first project of 2015,and I hope ya'll enjoy creating your first project of the new year as much as I did!

************Pinspirational Crop************

We have an AMAZING crop going on on the message board!  The DT member have each chosen some images from Pinterest and created layouts based on their "pins".  You are going to be SO INSPIRED to create after seeing these challenges!

Here is a page that I created for the "Home Decor" challenge.  I used lots of Black and White papers with lots of gold accents.  You'll have to go to the forum to see the original photo that inspired this page!

On the background, I wanted to add more interest to the page so I doodled some triangles with a thin black pen.  Then I splattered some inks and added some gold glitter enamel dots.

The edges have bits of paper and washi tape. The title is from the gold glitter thickers from Crate Paper Open Book.
