A Little bit Poorly

It's the school half term holiday this week, Imogen has a week off school. As seems to happen so often in the school holiday, my poor girl is poorly. I think she keeps herself going through the flood of germs at school, working hard and when the holiday comes her body surrenders and the germs take over. She was so pleased though that she achieved 100% attendance as well as this brilliant Achievers Award for being in the top 50 top achievers.

Unfortunately Imogen has been very generous with her germs, so we are a house of coughs, colds, headaches and sore throats. Consequently not much is being done, the heating is on, lots of drinks and I've been catching up with my favourite magazine.

It's called 'Modern Gardening' and I have a little notebook next to me so I can take note of any ideas I'd like to implement in our garden. I love the hanging baskets they've put together, especially the Chinese Lanterns.

Just popping by to say hello, so I'll get back to my magazine and box of tissues and hopefully have more to talk about next time.

My Little Mrs Russian Doll

I'm trying to finish some of the WIPs that I have around the house before I run out of bags and baskets to store them all in!

I started off with a to do list, but it wasn't very inspiring

The best way to approach it was to just do it! I found these little knitted pieces in a basket waiting to be sewn together. I enjoy the knitting and crochet, but not so hot on the sewing bits and bobs together part.

I think I've had it since last Summer or before even. The pattern came with a magazine 'Lets Get Crafting' and the yarn and needles were supplied with it.

To be fair, once I started sewing and stuffing, it didn't really take that long to finish off. Now doesn't she look better like this rather than a pile of knitted pieces.

I think she's quite sweet with her headscarf and pinny on.

Finishing one thing off has given me the motivation to finish some more (I have a poor bunny with no face).

It's my son's 27th birthday tomorrow and we're having a little celebration tonight to spoil him with a good meal and some presents, so I don't expect to get any more crafting done today.

A New Friend...

Thank you for all the lovely comments on my last post. I do try and reply to each comment and appreciate every one of them :)

I forgot to show a photo of the lovely flowers that Andrew bought me for Valentines. We don't really celebrate Valentines, but it's always nice to get flowers and they do look so pretty in the fauna posy vase.

How mantic is my man, buying me roses!

While I'm mentioning his romantic side... Andy was popping a pizza in the oven and came running through to show me this

Huh? I hear you say. It's a small piece of tomato from the pizza. Isn't he sweet!

I was flicking through the last issue of Simply Crochet when I came upon the cutest little bunny. I'm still very new to crochet and haven't made anything like this before so as well as learning something new, it meant we have a new friend come to stay with us.

She was nice and easy to make and I enjoyed crocheting her. Imogen suggests we call her Beatrix, Trixie for short.

Cute little bunny tail...

She's posing with my crochet hooks so I can show off my new GreenGate tumbler. I think it's so pretty, Andrew bought it for my birthday and I think it's going to be the closest I get to any GreenGate for now... love it :)

Rainy Day Reads

It's the afternoon , but I'm having to peer to see my keyboard as it's so dark in here. The sky is very dark and it's absolutely pouring down... sigh.

Luckily we did the outside jobs this morning when there was some blue up there! Cleaned out the chickens (smelly job mainly done by Andy, Imogen helped me throw in lots of nice, clean and dry straw), planted a couple of Azaleas outside the front of the house and sorted out rubbish for the tip. That means we can settle down now, warm and cosy indoors and read our new magazines.

The wonderful Mollie Makes for me (with The Princess and the Pea on the front cover, one of my favourite stories from when I was young) and  Girl magazine for Imogen with some freebie rings :)  Andy has a magazine subscription to Knowledge. It only comes every couple of months and he really looks forward to it (there's so much in it about so many different things), it arrived this morning so I've been hearing all sorts of snippets that he keeps reading out, from wearing bands on hats to keep horseflies away to spiders protecting us to a massive tropical style island that's been built within an abandoned airship hangar!

Yesterday we popped out for a bit of shop mooching, and I found this lovely glass cake stand.

It just looks a bit lonely, needs something delicious on top of it, like some fondant fancies or some yummy home made scones!

Oh, and a quick update on the wee kitties. 2 out of the 4 are eating well now One of them is the one Imogen is hoping to keep (the one with the most white on it).

She is the most adventurous and friendly, and very cute!
