IN CASE YOU MISSED EM...

Broken Bells stopped by KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic today and treated us to some very special moments.

Frontman James Mercer announced that in between tours with Broken Bells, He is working on tracks for his other band, The Shins, which has been on hiatus. He told host Jason Bentley that a studio is being set up now and that the next thing he'll probably release is a Shins record.

Also, the band debuted a version of "Insane Lullaby" from Brian Burton aka Danger Mouse's other project "Dark Night of the Soul." It's the first time Broken Bells has played the track live on the radio, though they have worked it into some of their live shows.

BROKEN BELLS

February 19th marked the evening that the Broken Bells performed their first live show, ever. This took place at the new hidden gem in Echo Park, the Fold at the Bootleg Theater. I was first attracted to the Bells, just on their album cover, then I did my research. I almost fell of my seat when I dug deeper to find out who this collaboration was comprised of; frontman James Mercer of the Shins and Dangermouse (a DJ widely known for taking the Beatles 'White Album' and Jay Z's 'Black Album' and mixing the two into the masterpiece DJ Dangermouse's 'Grey Album'). What a perfect combination of talent and artistry. Too bad for me my research was done the very day after they performed in LA, but I have a strong feeling that they will return.

Check them out in this video from their first single off of their self-titled debut album that dropped March 5th. GO AND GET IT, IT'S AMAZING!
