Teagather, 聚茶 @ Little Paris, Johor Bahru [CLOSED]

The first thing pop up in my mind about drinking milk tea, I always think of a warm and cozy afternoon, when I'm in the midst of finding some refreshing drink to relieve the steamy weather.
Teagather ( Cafe de Flore previously) offers affordable, variety of tea and snack, which is suitable for those who are looking for a decent place to gather and work.

The interior design is still much remain from Cafe de Flore ( If you came to this cafe before, you will know there is a lot of Europe-inspired, nice spot and design to take instagrammable picture. )
I and my friends take a chance to try their variety tea, ranging from typical milk tea, fruit tea and pure tea, with the price from RM6.90-7.90.
As you imagine, by paying about RM7.90, you can have fruit tea, with fresh slice of fruit such as kiwi, this is highly worth more than what you pay.

The snack box is worth for a try too, with reasonable price, not more than RM10. Yes, in a beautiful decoration cafe with budget price of great food, you should come and try~~
The promotion of this RM3 chicken rice is still on-going, do go and have a box of chicken rice~~ ( ps: The rice is really fragrance and tasty)

Brunch cum Sharing session with Sunshine Kelly and Guardian Malaysia.

When I came across the name "Sunshine Kelly" , I was like ..... " Oh! I met her once many years ago! "
I still remember, that time I was still a student, just started my blog and attended few events in KL, which engaged with bloggers.
I'm impressed with her consistency and hardworking in sustaining her blog. If you read her blog, you will notice that she update the post very frequent.
I'm glad to have the opportunity to join this brunch and sharing session with Kelly and Guardian Malaysian at one of the most trendy cafe in Johor Bahru, People & Places Cafe.

There are 5 bloggers, including myself involved in this sharing session. We were all excited to meet Kelly, and it's the first time having this kind of sharing session in Johor Bahru. Thank you Guardian Malaysia representative, Farah and Bee for arranged and organised this session.

Kelly shared her experience in blog during the session. We did manage to ask her questions. Consistency and self-discipline are key factor to sustain a good blog. A great reminder to myself in blogging.
With the growing of social media, it's become important to manage Facebook and Instagram, beside the blog. Kelly also shared some tips on creating good caption for Instagram. She also shared her experience in taking good flatlay photo.

We learnt from each other during the sharing session. The session is interactive as we were assigned to small game, which is necessary for us to apply what we learn during the sharing session to the game.
Well, here's my work, which you can find in my Instagram.
(PS: The Aloe Vera gel which I showed in my Instagram, buy 3 at only RM 10, under the Guardian Knockdown Progarmme. It's really cheap and good bargain!!! )
Do take note of Guardian Knockdown Programme every weekend. Guardian will feature few products for price markdown to the lowest. )

A weekend morning was well spent with nice food, nice people and nice ambience. A productive Saturday morning with the bloggers and Guardian Malaysia.

Visit to La Cool Restaurant, Permas Jaya. (CLOSED)

Permas Jaya is not very far from my home, but I seldom go to Permas Jaya to hunt for good food.
La Cool Restaurant , which located at Permas Jaya had truly amazed me with their good western food and desserts served.
As I stepped into this restaurant, I can see there are few white foreigners having their dinner. I believe the food served is good, therefore the white foreigners choose to come here regularly for their meal.
It's a very comfy restaurant, with ample of space, very suitable to hold an event or party.
La Cool Restaurant started since September 2016, took over from Re Della Pasta (甲蟲餐廳).

From the name of the restaurant, you might guess the cuisine served.
During my visit, I tried their signature western cuisine, which generally start from salad as an appertizer, then come to this pasta.
This Beef Tenderloin Spaghetti is perfect as a start of your main course. With some cheese flakes on the top of beef slice, the noodles are served lightly oiled and with the exquisite, full-flavored of tomato sauce.
Grilled Beef Tenderloin Spaghetti-RM28.00

Lasagna is another popular Italian pasta cuisine. It's not easy to find a good quality Lasagna in JB restaurants. La Cool Restaurant served lasagna, not over cheesy with good portion between the meat and pasta.
Homemade Lasagna ( Pork/ Chicken) -RM23.00

Cheese is one of the important ingredients in western cuisine. Cheese can match well with chicken chop too. Personally, I like this chicken chop. The meat is not dry, with melted cheese on the top of chicken chop.
Cheesy Grilled Chicken Chop- RM21.90

Besides chicken, melted cheese can be found in their pork ribs. The portion is big with very affordable price. The ribs are cooked with BBQ sauce, served with wedges vegetable and salad. The meat is tender and not dry.
Cheesy Pork Rib- RM63.00

This rib eye steak served was medium rare, taste much better than what I thought for rare steak.
Normally I prefer medium well steak. However, I can accept this. I believe the quality of steak chose is good, so I don't feel disgusted to eat medium rare steak. Yes!!! the meat is from the Australia rib eye, which is suitable for fast and hot cooking.
It served with some herb potato and salad.
Australia Rib Eye Steak-RM78.00

Pork Knuckle, which is more well known as the western style of pork leg. This German meal is getting common to served in Western restaurant in JB. As you can see from the photo, it's crispy on the outer layer, with tasty meat matched with 3 different homemade sauces.
Crispy Pork Knuckle- RM63.00

For those who love to eat lamb, they served grilled lamb rack. The gamey taste of lamb is not obvious, which is what I would prefer.
Lamb Rack- RM46.00

Come to the end of dinner, I tried some desserts recommended by chef.
Tiramisu is served , with great mascarpone cheese cream, flavoured with cocoa and strong coffee aroma of Savoiardi (ladyfingers biscuit).
From appearance, this tiramisu is not like what we usual see in Malaysia, but the taste is great, very close to the Tiramisu I ate in Italy.
Tiramisu (not in the menu yet!!)

Matcha hot cake served with some berries. The matcha taste is strong, flow out as you cut the cake. It's lightly sweet taste of matcha powder on the top of the cake. Matcha lover should not miss this dessert in La Cool Restaurant.
Matcha Hot Cake- RM12.50

Another flavour of  hot cake- Chocolate Fondant. The taste is better than expected, with warm chocolate flavour flow out when you cut the cake. It's not sweet, with thick chocolate sauce in the hot cake.
Chocolate Fondant-RM12.50

There is a variety of drinks to choose, including wine. If you are not an alcoholic drinker, you can choose their milkshake with different flavours, such as vanilla, chocolate, coffee, mango,etc.... The milkshake ingredients including fresh milk and a scoop of ice cream, which served in a long glass, with some fruits as topping.

Do come and try their western cuisines in La Cool Restaurant in Permas Jaya!!

Visit to Terminal One Cafe, Johor Bahru

The booming cafe culture is spreading throughout the JB city. Many locals now see cafe hopping as a way of life, since not much entertainment and happening in JB.
The uniqueness of  a cafe is one of the key elements which attract the curiosity of people entering the cafe.
Besides serving the good quality food, the interior design and theme of a cafe can be a factor to make people visit the cafe.

One of the latest theme cafe in JB, inspired by retro railway station located in Tmn Pelangi- Terminal One. It's very easy accessible once you are along Jalan Serampang.
Terminal One is renamed from Station One Cafe previously.
Terminal One is a bistro that encapsulates the need to escape from the bustling city lifestyle and to serve as a gateway to the bygone idyllic era of class and elegance.
The designs are based on retro style of train, including decoration, lighting and the food utensil.

Retro style luggage are all on the top as decoration.

Terminal One is the place to be for an exquisite dining experience. Discover a timeless setting combined with delightful fusion delicacies and be blown away with the grandeur of the design. There are lunch and dinner set menu, with a wide variety such as western, locals, snacks,etc... for your choice.

Personally, I like this Pandan Rice with fried chicken chop. It's like the fusion of Nasi Lemak with chicken chop. From the look, you can see it's colourful with lettuce, eggs, slices of tomato and cucumber, sambal and the pandan rice.

I ordered this appetiser- mushroom soup with puff. The puff is crispy, while the taste of soup is well- match

If you come with your friends, you can try this snack combo, which includes salad, chicken wing, sausages and wedges.

Terminal One also served snack from the east-- crispy Taiwanese chicken chop. This is one of the new items in the menu. It's best to eat while it's still warm. The chicken chop is cut into the size which is convenient for us to eat in bite.

As the theme of cafe is retro, the cup used in Terminal One is also the retro style big cup. From the left of picture, frozen lemonade plum and chocolate banana. There is a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the top of chocolate banana drink.

One more thing to mention, the staffs are wearing the uniform just like what you will see in a train. It's interesting as you can imagine yourself in journey to your destination.

Do come and experience your retro railway journey with Terminal One. It's definitely a place you will recall all your memory of train journeys.

Visit to By Grace, Trus @ Johor Bahru (CLOSED)

Ice cream is one of the popular desserts to have in the all year hot weather country such as Malaysia.
Nowadays, ice cream is not just as simple served as a cone or a cup, and the flavour is not just limit to vanilla and chocolate.

By Grace, Trus ,which is one of the soft-served ice cream specialized in JB. Basically, soft-served is ice cream that is softer than the normal ice cream as the machine incorporates more air and doesn’t allow the ice cream to harden as much. Texture of soft-served ice cream will be smooth.
The location is just in the the old town of JB, walking distance from Tan Hiok Nee Culture Street.

The shop sells Earl Grey ice cream with different toppings. It can be served in cup or cone.
The fragrance of Earl grey melted on your tongue nicely. It's not very sweet. Ice cream is soft and made of fresh milk.
The owner spent time to try different ingredients to be used to match with the Earl Grey ice cream.
Most of the ingredients are made by themselves, and some even bring back from overseas.

One of the latest, unique flavour of topping- Sakura, which is the ingredients bring back from Japan. The pinkish sakura sherbet having a taste of little salty and sweet in the same time. It's my 1st time trying a sakura flavour ice cream, quite interesting~~

Personally, I like the Uji Matcha topping. Matcha powder is one of the ingredients which the owner need to bring back from Japan.
This cup of ice cream will not going to be just ice cream. It's actually full of surprise with all these topping ingredients--Matcha rice crisp, Matcha ice cream, Genmaicha espuma, Matcha ganache, and Matcha tulipe cookies in a cup, and not forget match with the Earl Grey ice cream.
It's very appealing for every toppings, both the look and the taste.

Can ice cream be an healthier dessert? With this topping, I believe it changes our perception on ice cream. Osmanthus topping with dried longan muffin, goji berries, osmanthus charcoal ice cream, rice crispies pop and osmanthus&goji berry jelly.

This is also another popular topping in shop- Tiramisu, with espresso meringue, mascarpone espuma, feuilletine, coffee jelly, and coffee ice cream. As you can see from the cup, all the ingredients are nicely arranged with layers.

Caramel topping-- with caramel espuma, pumpkin seeds, salted caramel ice cream, and caramel candies!

The chocolate flavour consists of 75% dark chocolate ,ganache, espuma, feuilletine and rice crispies. It's well suited for those who don't like sweet chocolate.

All the toppings will match with the Earl Grey ice cream as a base. Overall, the choice of ingredients are detailed and the best quality is used. The price may a bit more than other soft served ice cream, but it's worth the price.
