An unusual trip!! - 8D7N Hong Kong& Macau travel guide: itinerary & tips

These few weeks I was thinking of compiling all my travel story and itinerary into my blog. Main reason for this thought is because of my forgetfulness.
I can't deny the truth that without recording my memory in my blog, I will gradually forget all the hard work I had done for planning my travel.

So, I start my post with my trip to Hong Kong and Macau. ( Memory flashing....... )
One of the special thing about my itinerary is no arrangement to theme park or Disneyland. If you are keen in visiting the Ocean Park or Disneyland in Hong Kong, you may spare few more day for this 2 themepark .

Here's my 6D5N itineraries:

Day 1 : Arrived Hong Kong International Airport -->Check in --> Mongkok
- From Airport to Mongkok, it took about 1 hour plus bus journey, which consider the cheapest, but in the same time time consuming transport choice. I prefer airport bus more than the airport train.
- I stayed around Mongkok, which the room space is very small ( Well, every inch of the land of Hong Kong is so precious )
- Mongkok at night is very happening. A lots of youngster mingled around and enjoy their night after work.
Hong Kong Avenue of Comic Stars

Day 2 : Hong Kong Museum of History-->Tsim Sha Tsui --> 1881 Heritage --> Promenade
- Walking around Tsim Sha Tsui area, with lots of shopping mall and high storey of building. Easy to get lost, but in the same time, I enjoyed hopping around shopping mall, to get myself cool ( I went during hot summer season) and using the shopping mall to recognise my location.

Day 3 : Central Region: Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum --> Victoria Peak --> Wan Chai
- Central region of Hong Kong is the opposite of Tsim Sha Tsui and Mongkok, which is divide by a river, can be connected by various public transports.
- To reach Victoria Peak , There are various public transport to choose. ( I know this after the trip)  Personally I chose Tram, which is the most well known by the tourist.

Day 4 : Ferry to Macau --> Senado Square --> Ruin of St Paul --> Fortaleza do Monte --> Casino hopping
-Most of the big casino in Macau have free shuttle bus, either from Ferry terminal, Airport to the casino. You can save transportation fees by using the free shuttle bus wisely.

Day 5 : Taipa --> The Venetian Macau
- Macau divides into 4 parts. Most of the attractions are located in Macau Peninsula. Well , don't forget another 3 parts of Macau, especially Taipa. It is the island south of the peninsula, accessible via three bridges.
-Don't miss the Taipa village, you will find a lot of hidden gem when you walk around the narrow street.

Day 6 : Macau Fisherman's Wharf -->Nam Van Lake --> Ferry back to Hong Kong --> Western Market (Sheung Wan) --> Causeway Bay

Day 7 : Ngong Ping --> Lantau Island --> Tai O Fishing Village
- If you have more days in Hong Kong, do come to this part of Hong Kong, which you will find the laid back side compare to our normal busy impression of Hong Kong.
- Highly recommend Tai O Fishing Village, which is a quaint and picturesque village, with the traditional stilt houses predominant of the old Southern Chinese fishing villages. Great place to find dried seafood.

Day 8 : Depart from Hong Kong International Airport
- Well, I really spent more day than others in Hong Kong and Macau, some more without visiting any themepark. I really enjoy the food in Hong Kong and Macau, even it's really more expensive with higher living expense.
- Eating dim sum is something a must when you visit Hong Kong. Almost everyday in Hong Kong I have dim sum and I enjoy it.

Date visited : 20th -27th August 2016

Disclaimer: My Hong Kong/Macau vacation is NOT a sponsored trip. I paid for all expense of trip.

11D10N South Korea travel guide: itinerary & tips

South Korea, one of my top bucket list to discover and travel, mainly because of the influence of k-pop and k-drama.
The moment when I decided and bought the flight ticket, I was so excited, thinking about so many plan, place and thing I would like to do in South Korea.
One of the main barrier I worried so much will be the language, which almost stop me from planning for the trip itinerary.  I’m glad that I have the courage to step out and plan the trip to South Korea by myself, without following the tour package.
I chose to travel to South Korea during summer, a long 11D10N trip to 3 main cities in South Korea- Seoul, Busan and Jeju Island.
In this post, I'm going to share my itinerary in South Korea and some basic spending and tips.

1. Flight
For all my travel, the most important thing is to grab the Cheapest Flight ticket. With cheap flight ticket, I can spend money on other aspect, such as food, better accommodation and things to buy. For this trip, I purchased the return flight ticket to Incheon International Airport, depart from Kuala Lumpur at RM758 per person (without check-in baggage) with Air Asia.  Air Asia Ticket Price is always very competitive and budget, especially during the off-peak season.

Good news to most of traveller who like to go Jeju island, Air Asia will be commencing the direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Jeju Island, starting from December 2017.  There are more options in arranging your South Korea itinerary.
Anyway, I used AIR BUSAN, a domestic flight in South Korea to Jeju Island. It’s very sudden and last minutes decision to add in Jeju island in my South Korea trip. The price of domestic flight ticket can be cheaper if I can purchase in advance, and avoid the weekend peak period.
Here’s my spending on my flight ticket (per person):
Air Asia return ticket (Kuala Lumpur- Incheon International Airport)
RM 758.00
AIR BUSAN one way ticket( Busan- Jeju Island )
RM 122.40
AIR BUSAN one way ticket( Jeju Island – Seoul )
RM 180.45

2. Accommodation
Basically, I don’t have much request on my accommodation, as long the room is clean, comfortable and with private bathroom. This is mainly because I don’t spend much time in hotel room during my travel. To choose a good hotel, you will need to take some time to search and read the review from other travellers. Another thing I will consider when I choose the accommodation will be the location. Normally I chose the accommodation that is accessible to public transport, and near to city centre.
Here’s my spending on my accommodation (per person):
Accommodation in Busan- near Seomyeon  (3nights)
RM 414.11/2 = RM 207.10
Accommodation in Jeju Island- near Seogwipo (3nights)
RM 317.55/2 = RM 158.80
Accommodation in Seoul- near Dongdaemun (4nights)
RM 544.44/2 = RM 272.20

3. Stay alert with the promotion with Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Malaysia.
Before depart to South Korea, remember to check out any promotion or discount booklet give away by Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Malaysia. For those who going to travel before 31st March 2018, do check out this DKYW2017 discount booklet. Here’s the website link:
It’s free to redeem from Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Malaysia, as long as you are Malaysian. Just show them your IC and flight itinerary. I really save a lot by using the discount booklet from KTO.

My Story in Italy #9 - My suggested itineraries in Italy

Italy, one of the most beautiful country to visit,
It is a MUST to come and visit to at least 1 Italian cities if you have a chance to travel in Europe.
Italy is a country with rich culture, history, art and food.
There are so many attractions you can stop by in Italy.
Some readers asked me about the itinerary guide for Italy.
Hmm, I took sometime to think about the best route for Italy travel.
I come out with this guide, with some of my suggested duration of stay in each place.
Of course, in this post I will only write about the Italian cities that I have visited.
However, there are still a lot of other Italy cities that worth to visit.
If you have budget and time, it's definitely worth to stay in Italy for longer time.

(A) 1st stop : Milan. (Recommend duration of stay: 2 day 1 night)
Milan, located north of Italy, a city with Fashion and modern.
Milan is well known for it's Duomo(Milan Cathedral).
For shopping queen and luxury brand lover, you can arrange 1 more day in Milan.
For me, I think 2 day 1 night is quite sufficient.
Personally, I expected this city a lot before go, but it's end up not that nice compared to other Italian cities I had visited.

Tips:
-To enter Duomo(Milan Cathedral),you don't need to pay for the entrance fee , but you can only enter with appropriate attire (no singlet, no short, no sexy).
- If you arrive Italy from Milan, you can follow my following route from (A) to (I). This is the best, direct way according to Italian train route.
- The best way to travel Italy from one city to another city is by train. You can book the train ticket online 2 weeks earlier to get the cheaper price. Here is the website:
http://www.trenitalia.com/

In front of Sforza Castle, Milan with my friend

(B) 2nd stop : Verona ( Recommend duration of stay: 2 day 1 night)
I would recommend a stop between Milan and Venice, with Verona, home of Juliet.
The city is famous as it is the place where William Shakespeare set his play Romeo and Juliet.
Verona is not as famous as Venice and Milan. However, you can discover the surprise beauty of Verona.
If you would like to watch an opera( Most famous show: Romeo & Juliet) in Arena, you can stay for 1 more night.

Tips:
The Opera will be performed in Italian, therefore you might find boring if you don't understand the language. However, you still can amaze with the music, costume and the ways the performers sing & act.

Juliet's Home
Verona, Italy

(C) 3rd stop: Venice ( Recommend duration of stay: 4 day 3 night)
Venice is my most favorite city in Italy. I love it so much~~~ I think almost all ladies love Venice.
For more detail about Venice , you may refer my previous blog post
http://mush4crazy.blogspot.com/2013/11/my-story-in-italy-3-beauty-of-venice.html

Tips:
The maximum amount of passengers allowed in 1 Gondola is 6 person. However, not all the gondolier( the person who row the gondola) allow 6 person in the same time. Therefore, you need to be smart on finding the good gondolier. Some gondoliers are funny , some even sing the Italian song on the gondola.

Venice, Italy

(D) 4th stop: Florence ( Recommend duration of stay: 3 day 2 night)
After Venice, you can choose a direct train toward next stop, Florence.
The most well known bridge, Ponte Vecchio, which span over the Arno river.
It's a must to go to Piazzale Michelangelo to get a scenic view of Florence.
If you are Prada fans, you definitely need a half day trip to Prada factory outlet( Space Outlet), which you need to take a short train from Florence to Montevarchi, a small town near Florence.
This outlet is known as selling the cheapest Prada in the world. ( I heard from my friends, not sure how cheap it can be...)
Anyway, beside shopping, Florence is a city with rich culture and arts, beauty plus heritage site from UNESCO.

Tips:
You can spend another half day to Pisa, which is also near to Florence. There is frequent train from Florence to Pisa and vice versa.

Florence, Italy

(E) 5th stop: Rome ( Recommend duration of stay: 3 day 2 night)
Rome, capital of Italy, with the most well known Colosseum, and the wishing fountain, the Trevi Fountain.
Besides the above mention attractions, there are many other place you can discover in Rome.
There is also a river in Rome, but not as famous like Arno river in Florence.
Inside the Rome, there is a famous, the smallest country in the world- Vatican city.
Therefore, you should expect to spend more day in Rome, and also more walking in this city.

Tips:
The summer in Rome is relatively hot compare to the cities in north of Italy. If possible, come to Rome in other seasons, even during winter, the weather is comfortable and not extremely cold like other European city.

Rome, Italy.

(F) 6th stop : Naples ( Recommend duration of stay: 2 day 1 night)
Before going to Naples, my impression toward this city is that it is the home of pizza.
With 1 hour plus of train from Rome, this city is not so big, hanging around 1 whole day should be enough.
I did some homework before going to Naples, and I found out this city is not as clean like other typical tourist city.
The price and living cost in Naples are also lower than other Italian city.
Therefore, it's another city for budget shopping.
You have to try the so called "authentic" pizza in Naples. It's cheap.

Naples, Italy

(G) 7th stop: Pisa ( Recommend duration of stay: Half day )
This city is famous because of this "non-straight" tower.
Not much thing to see in this city. I believed most of the tourists and travelers spend less than 1 days in this city.
For more detail about Pisa , you may refer my previous blog post
http://mush4crazy.blogspot.com/2013/12/my-story-in-italy-7-visit-of-leaning.html

Tips:
-Sometime Pisa Tower looked "straight" in some point of view. Therefore, if you really want to take photo with "non-straight" tower, you may need to turn around and find the best place.
-There is always a lot of visitors all year around in Pisa , and most of us will take a series of candid with the Pisa tower. Therefore, you should expect spending more time if you want a very good photo with the tower.
Pisa Tower.

(H) 8th stop: Cinque terre ( Recommend duration of stay: 2 day 1 night)
Cinque terre in Italian means "Five land" , which comprises five villages: Monterosso ,VernazzaCornigliaManarola, and Riomaggiore. It's portion of coast on the Italian Riviera.

The Italian have carefully built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea. The amazing, colourful terraces building and the beach have become the tourist attraction especially during the summer.

Tips:

If you don't have enough time to visit every villages of Cinque Terre, you can skip some villages. Among all 5, I like Manarola and Monterosso ( just my opinion).

(I)  9th stop: Genoa ( Recommend duration of stay: 2 day 1 night)

Last but not least, I would recommend this city--Genoa, which is 1.5 hours train from Milan.
I live in this city during my stay in Italy for 5 month (September 2013 - January 2014)
It's not a very popular city among the tourists.
Therefore, if you want to feel more about Italian culture and avoid the crowd, this is the best city for you.

Basically this is my suggested itineraries in Italy:
~~My suggested route~~

* If you arrive Italy from Rome, you may follow this route
Rome-Florence-Venice- Verona- Milan- Genoa- Cinque Terre-Pisa-Rome

Hope that this itinerary is useful for anyone who plan to have the holiday in Italy.

Enjoy~~
