Faux Furs'days Poster - April

Poster design for next months Faux Furs'days events. I decided to go with a 'space' like theme, due to the Aires and the Onesies events, the later of which resembles a spacesuit in orange.

The Twang

Although still in development, this is most probably my favourite poster design to date! I think some of the type needs to be sorted out still, but would like opinions on the composition etc?

Summer Exhibition Poster

Two poster designs that I made today for our summer exhibition, I really like the top one as is my favourite design, but I like how playful the second one is.

Brickyard Poster - Mad Manners Draft 1

A poster in development for the band Bad Manners. I wanted to try something a little different with the placement of the image this time, and by placing it upside down is appropriate for the band's ska style, and it draws the viewer in. I would like to hear peoples opinions on it before I send it off, I'm unsure about the placement of 'With Supporting Acts The User Friendly.'

Brickyard - Quireboys

I forgot to upload this poster, and the event has already been on, but here is my design for the Quireboys event at The Brickyard that was on the 25th November.

Faux New Year Poster

A rather rushed poster, which resulted in me designing with an xmas theme rather than new years theme, which set me back about an hour. However, I am very pleased with the outcome, I especially like the trees and the shading on the moon.

Power Nap Poster

I was given a completely free reign for this poster for the production 'Power Nap' which has a super hero theme. Seizing the opportunity, I decided to geek it up and design a poster with the comic book-esque panels, and went on a photo shoot with the actors.

Everything went well until it went for print, where the performing artists decided to ridicule me and slap a shitty comic book filter over the top of the poster and print it on pink sugar paper. Needless to say I was furious, but in the end it was all sorted out and they printed out decent quality posters.

Grillust (our course blog) commented on the issue in a rather humorous fashion: click here!

Ashdown High Poster

This is the poster for Ruth Stapleton's original production on the 25th October, in Stanwix Studio Theatre, I was asked to design it simple, yet eye catching, which I' think I've achieved pretty well!

Brickyard Poster - Rubakai

I have been given complete freedom with this poster, so I decided to use my own photo. I like the layout, but I can't help but feel that something is missing, maybe needs a little colour. The first poster is the original one, the second with red circles (which seem a little too overbearing) and the final contains subtle blue lines which is my personal favorite.

I haven't kerned the letters yet, but was wondering if there was anything major that I should change that you guys can spot?

[EDIT] Got the date wrong, my bad, it's actually on the 24th.

Faux Furs'Days Poster W.I.P

Design in progress for the new Faux Furs'Days poster, and I'm continuing on with the illustrative style I've been working on. Is there anything wrong with the illustration?

Quarantine Posters

I have been commissioned to design posters that will feature in a student film called 'Transmission.' The posters are to warn the public on how to survive the spreading infection within the film. This has definitely been my favorite work produced for a client, as I love post–apocalyptic, survival, zombie themed films and games, so it was very fun designing for!

Brickyard Poster - Vintage Trouble

This is the poster design I've got for the Vintage Trouble gig at The Brickyard on 7th July, what do you guys think of it? Any additions/alterations needed?

Help Japan Poster; Screen Printing

After reading Matt Cross' comment on the previous post, I decided to screen print the Help Japan poster onto an A1 piece of cartridge paper. I printed 10, some of which have been given out to friends, the others I will give to family members and keep some for my portfolio. I really enjoyed printing onto paper, and I would love to create more screen printed finals next year.

Brickyard Poster - Deaf Havana

These are the final designs for the Deaf Havana poster. I had some difficulty designing for this gig as the band's agent wanted in his words a poster which is 'plain'. My original design which I havent uploaded, was the complete opposite of this, and the second attempt (my favorite) wasn't suitable enough either. The second image is the official poster design, unfortunately.

(attempt #2 – my favorite)

(attempt #3 – official poster)

Lux Exhibition

The final poster and invitation for the LUX Photography Exhibition. LUX is measuring luminous (light) power per area, so I felt that showing movement through the use of long time exposures would be appropriate for the poster. The exhibition is on the 3rd of May, at the No. 15 Cafe in Penrith for those interested.

Secure Solutions Presentation Boards (pt3)

For the third part of designing the company brand we were asked to create two A2 boards presenting a signage system for their home office. I decided to present the boards with an infographic aesthetic to compliment the businesses ethos and professional look. After much stress over illustrator crashing on me and not rendering the infographics (see bottom two images as to why) And I'm impressed that I even managed to fit an I.T. Crowd reference into my work.

These next two images are what my screen looked like when I was designing onscreen. I filled the canavas with my designs, and the white box in the center of the image is the size of an A3 piece of paper...

I think the word overkill is suitable.

Help Japan Poster

After seeing Lucy Kelly's and Dylan Sewell's versions of the appeal to help Japan posters, and along with all of the other posters (my favorite designed by W&K) they inspired me to create my own. I wanted to convey support whilst also keeping the iconic use of the Japanese Flag.

Brickyard Poster - Kid British

My poster for Kid British @ The Brickyard. And a really bad photo from my phone of one printed out on the uni walls!
