Thank you Betty Crocker

I bought this when we got married 6 1/2 years ago. I use it A LOT. In fact I can turn to the sugar cookie, pizza crust, and banana bread recipes just by feel. Those pages are covered with a film of dough and batter crust. And the sugar cookie recipie has the calculations for how to tripple the recipe right on it. You can't make just one batch of sugar cookies.
I wish I had the ring bound one, this one will fall apart before I can pass it along as a family heirloom.
Several people have asked for my pizza crust and crepe recipes... it is just Betty Crocker my friends. Just Betty Crocker.

Food storage experiment

Two of the items that I have listed on our 3 month supply is dried apricots and dried cranberries.

Maes loves the cranberries, she also likes raisins. Jake won't do the cranberries and neither will really eat many apricots. But having fruits available are important to me.
I wanted to find a way to rotate them efficiently so I tried an apricot and cranberry cobbler with a cake mix topping. Although fresh is best I think that this turned out pretty good. I just let the dried fruit simmer in water and added a bit of sugar and cornstarch (to thicken up) after the fruit had returned to its "normal" size and shape.
Now, I'd love it if anybody has a good cobbler recipe that does not call for cake mix or bisquick. I love both but would like a tasty alternative without the processed boxed foods. r

The Start of a New Tradition?

On Tuesday Jake and I made bread together while Maesyn was at school.
I think that I might make a weekly habit of this.
He is always so sad that he has to see Maesyn go off to school or dance while he is forced to join me on my boring runs, or to chill while I shower and get ready for the day.
I think that this will be fun for us and ensure that we always have bread in the house for Cinnamon Toast.
The results were pretty tasty, but I could always use some advice if you have a great (simple) bread recipe.
I prefer to use whole wheat in at least half of it.
