"Pizza Gum"=piece of gum, hot gum only (jake)
"Next Day"= tomorrow (maesyn)
The sprinklers came on the other day as we were leaving. Jake took the opportunity to run through them and then pointed out that he was wet when we got in the car.
"Well, whose fault is that?" I asked Jake.
"The waters."
obviously!

The things kids say....

No Pictures, just a fill in....
So, although I am at 20 weeks on Wednesday, I still get the all too occasional evening sickness.. Nothing a good vomiting cannot help.
We are going to have another girl. Her name will be.
Micah Lea or
Meike Lea or
Meika Lea or
Mika Lea or
Mikah Lea
The Lea is said like Lee... and the Micah would be said My KA. So if we use the Meike spelling, then that rule: "when two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking" will not apply across her name.
Lea- is french (so I hear, and it is my middle name)
Meike, which totally has my vote, is apparently german, as is Heidi.... thus the ei would take the long i sound as in my name... however, Meike is not as common as Heidi, and I have been told, even by my half German brother in law, that there will be some problems. However, I have a girl Meike in one of my classes. Her father is German and that is where her name came from. I LOVE the spelling. I'm sure that is not the way we will spell it. We will make a final decision in September I am sure.
Mother's Day was wonderful and busy.
I don't get, nor do I want, jewelry or pedicures for Mother's Day. Instead, upon my wishing and request, I got a cool sun and rain canopy for camping. It always rains when we camp, and I hate to be stuck in the tent all day!!!
Cannot wait to camp.
Also, we have decided to rent our condo out.
I need to get the sign up today.
If anybody knows a good real estae lawyer that can help us write up or just look over a contract I'd love to get their name and number. This is our first time renting out a place and I want to make sure I do it all legit!

Mother's Day
One Mother's Day a few years ago (or the week before Mother's day), I sat in the Mother's lounge at church where a few of us were nursing our babies. One of the more cynical mothers explained how she did not like Mother's day. All of her kids seemed to misbehave and the day was bad. I was looking forward to the day.
I think Mother's are sometimes hard to read. Some things my family knows well about me and others I think are blurry or they may think one way and I turn out to feel opposite. It is not that they are not observant or do not love me enough to know me well... It is mostly because I am crazy. Here are things about me (I know...selfish) that my family is may or may not know.
Here we go:
No Jewelry please!!! They know this. Or at least Nate knows this. There are a few simple pieces that I am looking for. That perfect plain silver cuff that fits right around my skinny wrist, so maybe that is all.
In reality I love getting camping stuff or running stuff. That is why there is a nice rain and sun shelter set up in our living room comes in! I've really wanted one for the last few years. It usually rains when we camp and it is fun to stay outdoors when it does. Now we cannot wait to get out there. Thanks to a 20% off coupon that came in the mail last week for REI as well as both of our dividend checks.
I also love things made by my kids. Maesyn made a few things at school, she had lost them, but we found them around the house and in her purse. Nate has made a few paintings with the kids for various mother's day. I need to get them framed. One is full of handprints and foot prints... even Nate's! They are both set on a shelf that holds Nate's ties. These are even cooler than camping things.
On a side note, my mom prefers power tools when ever there is an occasion to buy her a gift.
I like cooking. I think I decided this mother's day that my gift might be for me to be allowed to make breakfast for my family. I really love doing this, and it is not because our breakfast was at all bad... I really liked it. I just really like cooking and it is hard for me to sit in the living room or stay in bed while I am being cooked for. Silly.
One year I remember going to my in laws house and saw that my mother in law had prepared breakfast for the family. On MOTHER'S DAY! I was pretty bothered. She really does a ton for her kids and I thought that they should have thrown a parade for her. Later Nate explained... "you know how you love to cook?... so does my mom." I never clarified this with her, but it could be the case on that Mother's day and possibly several more. Now I'm not totally set on this request. Jake loves to crack eggs, but he wanted to watch Cinderella rather than crack eggs this morning. I know it might make them feel good to make a special breakfast and I totally LOVE it when my family is happy.... Hmmmm what to do.
So Nate made french toast this morning at my request. I came in while he was smashing down the last piece. He said he thought it would keep it from getting soggy. He is thoughtful... But I explained that you never smash down french toast or pancakes. They will cook trough even if big... that is because they are fluffy.
I am very selfish in cooking. I don't give very many opportunities to Nate to cook.. I know he can and he loves it when he does... but I really really really like making food!!
HOWEVER, I don't like to have to clean up the mess after cooking and eating.
I really like a clean house.
If I don't have to change diapers on this day I totally don't mind.
Don't feel bad if I make some of the beds or bathe the kids-although I might do it when I am not feeling well, it is hard for me to just sit around and be waited on.
Do feel free to do any laundry and dishes. I totally won't mind... and probably won't touch these things on Mother's day.
If you are a little girl that argues about everything that I pick out for you to wear... don't do it on mother's day... you will loose stars. (maybe I'll do a post about our star chart).
Ok, I realize that maybe that last one might be asking a little too much. And... I have a little girl in the kitchen drawing "Mother's Day pictures for me." maybe to earn back some stars!
I sort of feel bad about Father's day. I wonder if it is more fun for me. I love doting on Nate... (Sorry about your non doting, class going to, no present, late birthday dinner birthday). So maybe Father's day is really my fun day.. and I should let Mother's day be Nate's fun day...
But does he really think it is fun to do all of this stuff?

Potty in the Toilet
This is our official documentation that Jake went potty in the toilet. He did it once a few months ago, but it was just a trickle and then he let the rest go in the bathtub, so we did not count it. I'm not going to say we are potty training. If he is ready then we will, but at the moment I am really tired, so I'll leave it up to him. It is easier that way.
