Yay! It has begun! Welcome to the sixth annual 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop hosted by Smeared Ink and the Smeared and Smudged Forum. We are so excited to be bringing you one fantastic month long event! There is a whole lot of information to share with you, so please bear with me as I go over everything.

 First off, if you haven't experienced 31 Days of Halloween before, you are definitely in for a wild ride! Each year at the S&S Forum, we challenge our members to sign up to be what we call a Wicked Blogger. They will share with you one awe-inspiring Halloween or Day of the Dead themed project for the whole month of October, and each year we are thrilled with the variety and talent that is showcased by our Bloggers.

The Wicked Bloggers will have their project posts up each day by 9am PST (Pacific Standard Time) for you to peruse, and to reward them for their hard work and stress (believe me, it's stressful!) any Wicked Blogger who completes all 31 days of posts on time will be entered into our grand prize drawing at the end of the month.

Isn't it awesome? There is over $300 worth of amazing stuff in there. But guess what...even if you are not a Wicked Blogger, YOU still have the chance to be entered into our grand prize drawing! You can participate as a Horrifying Hopper this month and have a chance to win.

Here's how it works: As a Horrifying Hopper you must hop through each and every blog on our blog roll and leave a comment on each project. Our Blog Roll is 39 people long, so it's definitely a challenge. If you leave a comment on every blog every day for the entire month, you will be entered into the drawing at the end of the month. It's a big commitment, just like the Bloggers, but well worth it since you get to view all of the outstanding artwork each day!

Just like with the bloggers, all Horrifying Hopper comments must be posted by 9am PST. So if a post goes live at 9am, you have until 9am the following day to get your comment posted. And don't forget, the Wicked Bloggers have until 9am to get their posts up, so if you are an early hopper you may need to come back after 9am PST to see all the projects.

 I know some of you are saying to yourself "I can't possibly commit to that all month long". Well, don't fret, because we have even MORE ways for you to win some impressive prizes! Each year we hold a scavenger hunt with prizes from some pretty amazing sponsors. Our 31 Days visitors, or what we lovingly refer to as our Sinister Lurkers, our Horrifying Hoppers, and our Wicked Bloggers all have the chance to participate in the Scavenger Hunt.

 Each day one of our Wicked Bloggers will be hiding a tiny image on their blog. We will give you a clue about the image, and you get to find it. When you do, just EMAIL US it's location. Everyone who enters will be put into that day's drawing to win one of the sponsor prizes, and we will announce the winner the following day. Easy Peasy! All guesses must be received by 9am PST the following morning.

 So, there you have it, all of the rules and regs for 31 Days of Halloween. Be sure to refer back to them if you need to, enjoy the scavenger hunt and amazing sponsors, and above all, have fun!!

12 Days of Creepmas Prizes

Hello everyone, today I have the winners from our last few days of 12 Days of Creepmas, as well as the Grand Prize winner. I'm sure you noticed that I didn't get my last few posts up, my whole household was hit by the flu and it really, really sucked... especially after being sick just a few weeks before with food poisoning. I guess our immune systems were just blown, but we're finally on the mend which is good. Anyways, I have the prize winners from Day 9 and Day 12 for our Smeared Ink Days. Thank you all for hanging in there for the rest of the hop, as we know this is one of the busiest times of the year.

12 Days of Creepmas 2013 -Day 9: Santa is Coming

Today is another Smeared Ink day for our little Creepmas hop, which means that any Jolly Blogger who uses Smeared Ink stamps exclusively will be entered to win our prize. We've got just a few more posts to go, and we'd love to hear all about what you've enjoyed from the hop this year.

On The Ninth Day of Creepmas, My True Love Gave To Me:

A Deranged Santa Lurking Where No Eye Can See!

For my simple digi card today I used Beyond from Smeared Ink, as well as the Zombie Killa digi paper pack. I added in red glitter, scratches, and lots of blood splatters to really get my point across. I don't know why I've been drawn to black white and red this year, but it works. You can see "Santa's" creepy hands coming up behind this poor girl, she better watch out!

On The Sixth Day of Creepmas, My True Love Gave To Me:

A Cold-Hearted Jumping Little Buddy!

I started with an x-ray of two frogs and built my project around that. I've used digi paper from our newest paper pack called Poe Boy, which is available in our shop, as well as a stamp from our Quoth The Raven set, available through Smeared Ink's Rubber Club. As you can see, this little Christmas froggy has a snowflake heart. Ah, the things my mind thinks up for Creepmas, sometimes I just don't know :)

An Icy Skull Decked Out to the Coldest Degree

For this card I used Skull and Roses from Smeared Ink, as well as some of our new decorative papers that are available in the shop today in both 12x12 and 8 1/2x11 sizes. The paper pack is called "Icy" and features some cool winter textures. This project will also be a component in a larger project later on. I hope you like it!

A Zombie Tag That Makes Me Want To Flee!

Like I said, very simple. But I started out by coloring my Zombie Pinup-Tease digi image with prismacolor pencils. Then I scanned her in to the computer, along with my deco papers. I used photoshop to layer my papers and zombie, add the words, and the snow and snowflakes. Now it's all ready for me to print out and hang.

12 Days of Creepmas 2013- Day 1: Toxic Tree Topper

Hello everyone! So glad to have you visit my blog today and join me as I kick off the 12 Days of Creepmas 2013 festivities! Today is the first day of 12 Days of Creepmas hosted by the Smeared and Smudged Forum. Just in case you don't know what this is all about, I'll give you a quick run-down.

12 Days of Creepmas started a few years back as a way for us Halloween lovers to extend the creepy season a bit, and what better way than to combine it with another of our fave holidays: Christmas! This is definitely not going to be your typical Christmas themed project share, so be prepared to see some projects that really push the envelope and present Christmas in a creative, quirky, and dare I say, sometimes morbid way. Consider this your forewarning and please be respectful when leaving comments; there is a time and place for traditional Christmas but this hop is not it, and we hope you enjoy what we have to offer.

We've challenged our Jolly Bloggers to create stamped projects that really fit with a Creepmas theme, and they will be posting these project every other day up until Dec 23 and they must have their posts up by 9 a.m. PST. If they complete all 12 days of projects, each Jolly Blogger will be entered into the grand prize drawing at the end of the hop. The winner will receive a $100 digi shopping spree from Smeared Ink!

But wait, as a hopper you also have the chance to win! If you complete all 12 days of hopping by commenting on each and every blog, you will be entered into the grand prize drawing as well. In order to qualify, you must leave a comment on EACH participating blog every scheduled day.Your comment should be about the project or something related (ie-no "Here's my comment for today" or "I'm here!"...these types of comments won't count!) and cannot be a copy/paste comment. Your comments also must be posted before the next project, so if you are commenting on today's projects, you will need to comment before 9 a.m. PST on Dec 3.

I think that about covers it. You will always be able to find the blog roll in my sidebar, and just for good measure I will also put it at the end of this post. Now I'm going to move on to my first project.

On the first day of Creepmas my true love gave to me....

A Toxic Topper To Place Upon My Tree

I decided to make a tree topper that features one of our newest digi sets, Toxic Ballerinas, as well as our 12 Days of Creepmas digi set. You can find both of these in our Smeared Ink shop. I started by sizing and printing the 12 Days images, then cutting, sealing, and distressing the edges of them with scissors. I did the same with some plain watercolor paper that I spray painted silver. I made my topper layers by alternating these with silver screen and metal mesh.

My Ballerina Top was printed normally and reversed lots of times, fussy cut and layered. (If you'd like to see a great way to do this, visit the S&S Forum Mixed Media University, Ike has posted a wonderful tutorial all about Fussy Cuts and Layering). I believe there are a total of 14 layers on the skirt, front and back, and 4 layers on each side of her body and face, plus a few side layers on the skirt.
