BBTB2: Cricut - Mother's Day Step Fold Card

Can you believe I have never made a step-fold card.  I easily found the instructions on Pinterest, and had the card cut and scored in just a few minutes.  I had come up with the images I wanted to use before I envisioned them on a step-fold.  I really like how it turned out.  This card is for my daughter, who has 3 children, and sometimes amazes me with her ability to hold it together.

I made this for the Mother's Day Challenge at Bitten by the Bug2, which starts today and runs for two weeks.  Join in the fun and link up your project and see the artistry of our Designers.

I used Cricut images for the saying, children, slide, and teeter-totter.  The swing-set is hand cut from paper.  I inked many of the pieces as well.  It was an easy, fun to assemble card.

Images:
Mom saying:  Strong as a Mother
Children:  A Child's Year
Teeter Totter, Slide:  Playground Equipment (hadn't seen this cart before today)
Folded Card and Swing Set:  Hand cut

BBTB2: Cricut - Fishing and Fun at the Lake

Summertime activities lead to a lot of picture taking and a lot of planned scrapbooking projects.  I'll never get caught up.  Thanks to the Bitten By the Bug2 blog, I at least get something done each week.  This week our theme is "Beach or Lake" for our challenge.  Use a Cricut cut relating to this theme and link it up to our blog HERE:

The "life is better at the lake" title had no edges.  I used a bracket from Phrases and 'flattened' the two together to get the title you see below.  I used print and cut because it was just too small to cut some of the pieces.  I inked a lot of the cuts, used Stickles on the bubbles, and a hint or so of white and pink gel pen.  I made a 2nd coordinating page but won't publish it because it has another family showcased.  Fun Times.

Cartridges Used:

Words:  Birthday Cakes
Fish Tag:  A Childs Year
At the Lake Title:  Hot Summer Days
which was welded to
Bracket:  Phrases
Heart Arrow:  Hot Summer Days
Big Arrow Under Words:  Boho Graphics Iron On

BBTB2: Cricut Santa's Coming to Town

Our spirit was renewed at Christmas once the grandkids came along.  The innocence of believing in Santa, the marveling at sparkly decorations, and learning to sing Jingle Bells just melts my heart.  My layout today includes a picture of my granddaughter from a few years ago.  She came over to help decorate my tree.  She was wearing a dress that her mother wore when she was young, and the stuffed Santa was made by my mother.  Thus, this picture deserves a layout of it's own.

You can join in the Christmas fun by linking up your Christmas cards and layouts/projects that include a Santa Cricut cut to our Bitten By the Bug2 Blog HERE:

My vintage feel has lots of cuts on it:

Tree, Santa, Banner, and Title:  Winter Frolic
Snowflakes:  Artbooking, Don Juan, and A Child's Year
Deer: Wildlife
Presents:  Artbooking
Background Frame:  Artiste

BBTB2: Cricut - Frozen Skaters with Warm Hugs

As our BBTB2 design team sticks with winter themes for our weekly challenges, I am getting a little bit of my grandson's 1st birthday album scrapped.  There were lots of candid shots, so I grouped some together and incorporated the theme for this week.  Susan, our lovely leader and hostess for the week has selected an "ice skate" cut to be incorporated into our designs.  Check out Susan's blog at Busy With the Cricky.

I used the Frozen cartridge to cut the ice skate and the 'Warm Hugs" saying.  Artbooking was used for the "Frosty Fun" saying, and A Child's Year cartridge was used for the two ice skaters.  I love using cuts for the first time, there are just too many to choose from, and I'll never be able to use them all, but I'm trying.  The snowflakes were 3D embellishments from my stash.  I added a little silver Stickles to the top of the boot.

Link up your ice skate card/project/layout at Bitten By the Bug2 this week.  We are having a give-a-way drawing for everyone who submits a project during the month of January - it just might be you.  Enjoy - Maureen

BBTB2: Playing in the Sand - Cricut layout

Would you believe these pictures at the beach are from February?  We went to Pismo beach (Southern CA) for a camping trip and hit 74 degree weather at the beach.  My granddaughter was in heaven, having really never played in the sea before.  She ran in the waves forever, pulled seaweed for a mile, and built sandcastles.  It was a great weekend, and I happen to catch a few pictures with my old iphone.

MyScrapChick was used for the Playing in the Sand cut and the footprints - boy it was a lot of pieces - but came out nice.  The sign will have my destination journaling. A Child's Year was used for the girl playing.

Join us at BBTB2 this week with our pool/beach theme.  Include a Cricut cut in your card or layout and link it up at Bitten By the Bug2.

BBTB2 - Thankful for Fall

A few years ago, I made a picture frame in a Cricut swap (see HERE) and said I would make another one for the granddaughter.  Well, now there are two grandkids, so I had better get going.  I had the base of another frame already painted, so got to work.  It's so easy when you have the design already on paper and the papers and pieces available.

At BBTB2 this week, the challenge is to use a Fall Pumpkin in our projects.   So I added a pumpkin at the bottom.  Perfect for the kids at the pumpkin patch.   The patch is called Joan's Pumpkin Patch and happens to be my granddaughters name too!

Frame and sunflower from - Michaels
Girl and Leaves from - A Child's Year
Joan from - Old West
Pumpkin from - October 31st

Link up your Cricut Fall Pumpkin card or project to our Bitten by the Bug2 blog this week.  Dany, our hostess, and the other designers would love you to enjoy our inspiration and to look at yours.  Happy Fall Y'all!

BBTB2 Cricut FROGS Snails and Puppy Dog Tails

I am sure you all know the old rhyme "Girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice.  Boys are made of frogs, and snails, and puppy dog tails".   I just love this saying and have wanted to use it with a baby picture of both my grandkids.   I used the cutest photo of my grandson at 4 months - he is giving a big smile and I managed to snap a good one (out of about 8 taken).

Our challenge at BBTB2 this week is hosted by Diana of D.L.Art.  She has asked us to use a FROG in our project, card, or layout.   There are lots of frogs to select from, and I used this one from "Give a Hoot".  The snail is from "Art Nouveau", and the Dog with boy is from "A Child's Year".  The swirly frame is from Elegant Edges and I must admit on both layers, the cut snagged a bit.  Fonts are Cindy Loo, Disney, and Don Juan.  It was fun using different fonts and I designed it completely on Design Space.  I usually don't design an entire layout in DS, I just make cuts and design as I go or from the design in my head.   This layout took 15 mats but really didn't take that long to cut.   Join us at BBTB2 this week for the FROG challenge and link up your Cricut project for all to see.

BBTB2 - Cricut Mother's Day Card 2015

Happy Mother's Day to all Moms or Moms-to-be.   This week at BBTB2, our hostess, Caroline, sends greetings to our mothers by asking us to create a Mother's Day card or project.

Well, I had this wonderful project on canvas in my head for months - and went to create it this week and it turned out terrible.  In fact, it didn't turn out at all and I scrapped it altogether.   So I went to Design Space to create a ready-made simple card.   And that's what I have today - however, I added a little extra couple of cuts to make it special - it will go to my daughter.  I took two different cuts from A Child's Year and combined them so there are two children with the mom and pop-dotted it onto a circle on top of the Mother's Day Card 07 image.   Join us for the Mother's Day challenge at BBTB2.

Hop over to Easter

Melanie is hosting our BBTB2 challenge this week.  The theme is to put a bunny/rabbit on your card, layout or project.   I found this adorable bunny couple on A Child's Year and made a vintage looking burlap flag for my front yard.   I cut out the bunnies at 11.5" from card stock and used the negative as a stencil for painting on the burlap (painting over where the tail would go).   Then I sandwiched cotton batting in the middle and sewed around the project.   I wasn't sure how to decorate it without going overboard, in the end, I put down a handful of vintage buttons (picking out the dark ones) and hot glued them on as they were.  I decided they were a girl and boy and made a tie and necklace to add bling.  I got this inspiration from Pinterest, but the button part is my idea.  Several have said this flag is a knock off from Pottery Barn.

Hop on over to the BBTB2 blog and post your projects and see what the designers have come up with for the bunny challenge.  Happy Easter everyone!

What a Parade!

Celebrate Freedom - we really don't think about it much.  I've been to several countries where the quality of life for some is very poor and the governments do not give assistance.  Yes - I am proud to be an American - Let's CELEBRATE FREEDOM.  My photos today are from a small town parade we went to this year on the 4th of July.  What a great turnout and it lasted a whole 20 minutes!

I used my new cartridge, Something to Celebrate for the banner backgrounds and the word Celebrate.  I created another banner and put the word Freedom from Create a Critter 2 on top.  Fireworks from CAC2, and the boy with flag from A Child's Year.

Our sweet friend, Brenda, from friendscraftinwithfriends is hosting our challenge this week at BBTB2.   Since it's Labor Day weekend, she has asked us to create a patriotic themed project.  I hope you can join us and make a project to celebrate the day!

4th of July Layout - A Child's Year

I am so glad that I am on the Bitten by the Bug Design Team.  It gives me lots of incentive and makes me strive to try new formats and projects.  I finally am getting to the 4th of July layouts from 2012.    This week, Michelle is leading the challenge "Independence Day", and I have to show off.  My first layout is of my granddaughter trying to figure out what to do with sparkler boxes and just being darn cute.  I used A Child's Year for the icons, and Carousel for the wording.  I put a non-Cricut cardboard die cut from my stash for color and had a flag sticker just the right size to add bling to the boy with wagon.

The 2nd layout was easy to put together.  I really like the overlays on the Artbooking cartridge, so I cut it almost at maximum size.  I got an idea to put red stripes behind the overlay, giving it an American flag look.  The pictures are of my husband, the grandma-in-law, and myself all with the grandbaby.

Come on over to BBTB2 and link up your 4th of July project or layout.

3D Christmas Snowflake Ornament

I made this snowflake ornament by starting with the plastic snowflake from the $1 store (3 for $1).    The boy and snowman was cut layer 1 and shadow from A Child's Year.  The PEACE banner, upper snowflake, flowers, and leaves were cut from Artiste.   Used Stickles to decorate, and hot glue gun to put it all together, popping up the cut-out with foam squares.

I have another version that I'll post later this week.   These are going to be gifts to relatives and/or gift tags on larger gifts.  I would like to make some in a blue palatte as well.

Happy Fall Y'all

This is a picture frame I made for a swap on the Cricut message board.  I am really happy with the results, and part was by accident.  I brought a 'sprig' of fall flowers/leaves for another project and this sunflower came with it.   Accidently put it on the frame and an idea was born.  I want to make another one so I can fill it with a pic of my granddaughter at the pumpkin patch.  Her name is Joan, and there is a pumpkin patch with attractions/activities called Joan's Pumpkin Patch in Livermore, CA.  Some day she will think it belongs to her.

CRICUT --- Fall from Old West,  pumpkin from EDPD, leaves and girl from A Childs Year.  On the pumpkins, I cut off the curly leaves since they were so small.  Inked all edges of frame.  Paint is just 59 cent paint from Michaels.

St. Patricks Day card

It's been a long time since I have posted. I craft all the time, just haven't had time to post and create at the same time.

This is a St. Patrick's Day card I quickly put together for an Irish friend. I hand wrote an Irish blessing on the inside along with some shamrock stickers.

Grandma's Mini Album for a Boy

I made this album for a best friend who is going to be a grandma this year for the first time. It's a boy, and I found some coordinating paper at my now closed LSS, and thought it was perfect. Can you believe a baby boy album with no blue? It came out really cute with lots of room for pictures and journaling. These are most of the pictures - didn't load them all. Can't wait to give it to her.

Made these cards in just a few minutes. Pretty basic, but the colors and shimmer are what makes the cards. Sending to friends as thanks yous at Thanksgiving.

4th of July Decorations

I used "A Child's Year" to create my wall decorations for the 4th of July. Cut the fire engine and kids at max size, shadow first, then cut. Put them up as decorations on my cubicle at work.

A Child's Year Birthday Card

I actually made this card for a 90 year old who is very young at heart. Happy Birthday, Girl, and bird all from A Childs Year. The scallop was stretched on design studio and is from Celebrations. I inked the bird in a light blue... the girl is shadowed in white and then pop dotted on the card. Two rhinestones added for her buttons, and presto - a simple but really nice card appears. Pop dots are not what I usually use, but they sure make a difference in the final card... I need to remember to use them more often.
