How To- Spinner Card

Today's card that I will be sharing with you is a spinner card. This type of card is perfect to showcase a die-cut.

The first thing I did was use temporary adhesive to hold the cardstock onto the card base. Tape the die in place and run it through your machine. You might have to add a shim to the die-cut plate sandwich to be able to cut through both layers. Remove the paper from the card base.

Die-cut the layered Jeanine's Art Classic Butterflies twice but make sure to die cut the image once on with the right side of the paper facing up and once when it is facing down. This ensures the when glueing the die cuts backs together that it lines up perfectly.

Now glue a piece of string to the center of the card base. Adhere to the die-cut pattern paper to the base, making sure to match the negative die-cut space.

Last, this is to add the die-cut. Once it has dried spin the die-cuts around a few times. While holding the wound up die-cut close the card and slide it into the envelope. When the card is removed from the envelope and open the die-cut will spin.

Here is a little video of the card spinning and how to prepare it for the envelope.

DRU Box Card How-To

Today, I will be sharing with you how to create a box card that is 3-D folds flat when it is time to mail.
I have created diagrams to help with the instructions.

Your card should look like this.
With the 1" strips that you previously cut from the cardstock, trim it down to 4 1/2" with a 1" score line on each end. Glue to the inside of the box. For my example, I did it in a different color so you can see how it should look.
With the Frantic Stamper's Strolling Monique I created a layer die cut. Die cut in two different papers and trim the portion you want, here the shoes and dress. I then glued it to the base die cut. The finishing touch to her was coloring the hair with an alcohol marker.
To decorate the card base use six 2 1/4" x 2 1/4", three 2 1/4" x  3 3/4", and two 2 1/4" x 6 1/4". Here is the finished card. The Impression Obsession Birthday die in the front.

BB2U - Featuring a Galaxy Background

Last night, I was in the mood to try a new technique that I have been seeing some online friends doing. Since I knew for my style I need to do it in a small amount which was great so I didn't feel like I wasted my time if I ruined it since I wasn't using the right items. This card I am about to share uses the "Galaxy" background technique and the "CAS(E) this sketch #212

Here is my take on this sketch.
Supplies: cardstock (The Paper Studio and My Mind's Eye), watercolor crayons (Design Memory Craft), punches (EK Success and We R Memory Keepers), stamp (CASual Fridays), stamp ink (Tsukineko), mist (Tattered Angels), brad (My Mind's Eye) and salt.

I love the frame punch board from We R Memory Keepers. I seem to be using it on a lot of my projects.

To create this pattern paper with the watercolor crayon and black mist. While it was still wet I added salt to the top and let it dried. Once it dried I brushed off the salt. It doesn't look like the galaxy which is because of error on my part but I do love the look of this.

Glitter....What?

Hello everyone, can you believe it is July already? I sure can't but I am finding it less hectic this year than last year. You might remember the dyed daisies I showed a few years ago. I normally do it every year but last year I completely forgot, my parents chalk it up to me being nervous due to the fact I has going to Ohio a week later for the first eye surgery.

Anyways, this year I dyed them a little early so I won't forget but this year I did something extra. I glittered some mason jars for the vases. That is right I worked with glitter and I can say I didn't get covered in it. I know a glitter miracle.

Directions:
1. Tape off a section of the jars. I used some washi tape because I have ton of that laying around that I sure I will never get used.
2. Using a foam brush apply your mod podge.
3. Apply the glitter. Make sure you use a fine glitter. Let dry.
4. Apply a layer o mod podge over the glitter to seal it. This will make sure you won't get glitter transferring.
Tip wear some gloved so it doesn't get all over your hands.

Enjoy your Independence day. Have safe travels.

T-shirt Extender

Sorry, for the long hiatus of the fashion series I was doing on Thursday's. Today's I am going to share with you the last one in the series.

This is is super simple T-shirt extender. All you need is some knit fabric.
Directions:
1. Measure your waist.
2. Cut two pieces of fabric out making the top your waist measurement and the bottom bigger by 6"-8" bigger. it should look like a  trapezoid. Doing this ensures a snug fit in the waist and a more roomy fit around the hips.
3. Pin right sides of fabric together and stitch, I used a 1/4" seam allowance.
That is it now you can have the layer look without the bulk. Plus, it adds modesty to that shirt that is just a tad to short or just won't stay down in the back.

Top in 10 Minutes

Sorry for the little break in the fashion series I am doing. Last week, i just forgot about writing it since I was working on an order and this week I have been sick but I am feeling better today so I felt like getting my blog some attention.

Today I am going to share how to take a simple knit fabric and turn it into a cute top that takes just a few minutes.

   1. Take a 1 1/2 yd. of fabric and fold and half. Here is a diagram how it should look laid out. The top cut-out is the neck hole so you can make this as wide as you like if you want to wear it off the shoulder or not. In the bottom corner just round it off.
   2. Measure your waist and divide in half and add 3 or more inches depend on who loose you want the top to be. If you want the opening of your shirt to be 30" but you have to cut that in half since you only need a flat measurement.  15" mark the stitching point at 7 1/2" from the center since 7 1/2" times two is 15"

That is i. In no time you have a cute top with flare sleeves.

Suede Tassels

I can't seen to head to a store or look at the TV without seeing the suede and tassel trends. Since this is such a trendy thing and it doesn't look like it will leaving anytime soon I thought I could do a simple and super affordable way to incorporate it in my fashion.

I ended up making a suede tassel to jazz up a 100" stainless steel necklace I have had for years.

   All you need:
5" of suede fringe trim that you buy in the sewing department,
11" of 18 gauge wire (I used aluminum)
jump rings
needle-nose pliers
glue

Step 1. Roll the trim into a tight roll like this and glue the end in place. I also added glue to the top of the coil to give it extra insurance that it wouldn't come undone.

Step 2. Close to the end wrap the wire around the pliers two to three times this created the bail for the tassel

Step 3. Wedge the tassel in between the bail and with the long end of the wire wrap the it around the top tightly. Make sure to cover up the short wire, this will keep the tassel secure.

Step 4. Add your jump ring or rings. I added one for the necklace and two for the purse charm.

Here is what it looks like on my purse.

A Project for the Kiddies - CCB

This project I am about to share with you today is kid friendly. The challenge for the Canvas Corp Brands creative crew was to create a kid project that they would want to make and we would want to display it.  I thought about this long and decided a cute embroidery hoop wood be a great thing for a kid to work with.
I am going to share everything you will need and the steps on how your little ones can create this.

Supplies from Canvas corp Brands:
Other items you will need:
embroidery hoop
adhesive cork (Contact)
felt
stencil (The Crafter's Workshop)
Click on the image below to view images bigger.

Step 1: Mist gravel mist onto a cotton ball and rub it on top outer hoop.
Step 2: Using the inner hoop trace the outer edge onto the cork. Cut out with scissors.
Step 3:  Put the felt in hoop and tighten.
Step 4: Adhere the cork circle.
Step 5: Lay mask on top of hoop and mist with three remaining colors. I  started with the lighter shade in the center and work my way out using the darker tones. Remove mask. I picked these colors to use because I thought it blended in with the cork so it kind of give an optical illusion that the design isn't there unless you look at it a certain angle. I thought a kid would love that magical feature.  Step 6: Gather the fabric in the center.
Step 7: Wrap the center with just about four times tie a knot and leave the tails long.
Step 8: Attach bow and tag to hoop.
I am sure any kid would love to make this because it allows them to get messy.

On The Run - SBC #434

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. I sure did. Spent it cooking up some yummy foods, watching the Love Come Softly movies on Hallmark, hanging out with my family and of course crafting. Also, I went contact lenses free.

Now, onto this month's kickoff for April sketches over at Scrapbook Challenges.  Sketch reveal #434

Supplies: pattern paper (Crate Paper), stickers (American Crafts, My Mind's Eye and October Afternoon), washi tape (Scotch Brand), die cuts (Scenic Route), mist (Tattered Angels), doily (The Paper Studio), border punch (EK Success), and diy enameled dots.

One thing I wanted to point out about a product I used on this page were the "XO" die cuts. Those are from Scenic Route that I got from the years ago before they closed. They came in a grab bag. I am embarrassed to say keep forgetting about them. I think I have only used them on one other project in all that time they have been in my stash. I am trying to bust my stash this year so I don't feel guilty when I do get something new.  I shouldn't have that feeling since I only buy things every once in a while.

Thanks for popping by and be sure to head over to Scrapbook Challenges to see what the rest of the design team made for this great sketch.

Twine Farwell

Today is my last post as a design team member of this fabulous company. I would like to thank Stacy, Debbie and my twine sisters for the amazing and fast year.
Today's project is a cute Christmas gift bag that has a sequins filled tag and a tassel. Be sure to stop by the TT blog to see more details on the bag and tassel.

Right now, let's focus on the tag.
To make this you will need:
Tag
Sequins
Sewing Machine
Thin clear plastic (I used a sleeve from a 4x6 photo album)
Low tack tape (washi or painters tape)
1. Add tape to back of the tag. Making sure it goes beyond the tag.
2. Add sequins to the center.
3. Place plastic on top. Make sure the tape sticks to it.
4. Carefully pick the tag up and sew the plastic to the tag. Make sure to don't catch any of the sequins in the stitches.
5. Carefully, remove the tape. Trim away the excess plastic.
It only took 5 easy steps to create this beautiful tag.
Be sure to follow me to see my latest twine creations.
