Last day of Lagoon.

It is always a bittersweet day..

Had to take my camera to take pics of the fun had.

Peyton loves the helicopters.  She asks to ride these when she prays.

I let Merrill take the girls on this one.  My head was still messed-up from the night before when we fit 4 adults on the Tilt-a-Whirl car.

Then the downpour came.   This was the only dry spot for us to wait while Merrill and Lynn hopped on Colossus.

Colossus..

We had to ride the train.  Another one that is mentioned in the two-year-old prayers.

And the carousel.

Ashley loves it.

We are already excited for next year..

It’s no fun to take the big camera to Lagoon….

The phone had to do.

Daddy’s day off.

We all love when Merrill takes a day off.

We usually spend a great part of the day outside, getting the lawn trimmed and primped, but we play too.

Yesterday, there were a few funnies, courtesy of the girls, that came with our fun day.

We had a few errands to run after the yard was taken care of.  A few were at the mall.  We don’t go there very often, for various reasons.  We just don’t go if we don’t have to.

Yesterday was Peyton’s first time venturing the mall sans stroller.  I think she enjoyed it too much.  Her adventurous little spirit led us to many a window display yesterday, and everything was “cool!”.

As we left the mall, on our way to find the right sized inner tubes for Ashley’s bike, Peyton was tossing out names of stores we could possibly be going to.  That cracked Merrill up that she would know the possible stops.  Once we confirmed that we would be stopping at Target, she said, “OH!  Tah-get..  I love you Tah-get!”

We got bikes fixed, enjoyed the rest of the day outside, got many pics…

I had to take Ashley’s training wheels off to fix the back tire, and asked her if she would try riding without her training wheels just to try it.  She was freaked-out.  She wanted to go get Merrill (who was trying to rid himself of a headache..) so he could “protect her from me”.  What a crack-up.

Her training wheels are back on.  I think she has fully recovered.

But none of Lynn, she is just too fast for me now. :(

We ate dinner and prepared to head out to Lagoon of the evening.

(The issue with the car fixed itself when Merrill took it out for a drive to see if the issue was with the brakes.  Hallelujah!)

When we were talking about going “somewhere fun”, Ashley got so excited!  When we told them we were going to Lagoon, her excitement disappeared.  She was disappointed, she’d rather go play on all the swing sets at Pitcher’s Sports.

What a goof.

We had a fun night there.  Peyton was the one who chose most of our rides there.  The train being a top priority, and the carousel also.  She got too comfortable on the sky ride, (my dad would have freaked out) as did Lynn on the Tidal-Wave.  The fearlessness in them reassures me that they have some of me in them.

It's what fun is...

We had so much fun as a family yesterday..
We crammed in a lot for one day, and the kids enjoyed every second of it.
We got a ride passport for Peyton. After weighing all of our options, it was well worth it to have her ride on more than just 3 rides.. she was kind of freaked out at first, but loved it by the end of the day.
Ashley loved the newest ride, "Jumping Dragon". She rode with me, and laughed so hard! She kept saying, "This stinkin' ride is makin' me laugh!!" But all time favorites are still her favorite: Bulgy the Whale (she calls it the "fishy ride") and the boats.. those dang boats.. we waited in line for those longer than ANY other ride the whole day...
I took Lynn on the Colossus for her FIRST TIME!!! We were so close to getting the FRONT SEAT for the event, but no such luck, last row joes here.. she was kind of nervous, I remember I was my first time. I was worried that dad's hat would fall to the abyss of the track below, you know, when you get up-side-down on the thing? She did great though.. she yelled that she was keeping her eyes closed because she was too scared, just as we were going up-side-down for the first loop.. I kept my hand on my hat. ;)
She and Merrill have "their rides" the ones that they always do together, the Screamer is one of them. She loves the rides that get her wet and the ones that go fast...
It's funny, with all the action there, we always end up in Pioneer Village, and we spend quite a bit of time there. We love it! I guess it is the idea of a simpler time, we wish to be there..
Yesterday we enjoyed ice cream there, and found some cool spots to snap some pics.. I think my family got sick of me saying how cool the walls and colors were there.. but they are great for the new photo editing stuff I have learned!!
These and the water ones were my absolute favorites.. I hope to get a lo done soon with all of the pics I took..

The promise of a run through the fountain at the end of our day, along with a bag of cotton candy, had them going strong.
Can't wait till we bounce back!

I am sorting through GALLONS of pictures.. can't wait to digi scrap them!
I think we shall all sleep very well tonight..

Halloweening...

We had a fun, kinda chilly, little sprinkle-y Halloween. Merrill took the girls out for a while... I didn't go because Peyton fell asleep during the traditional chili dinner. Just as well, Ash "missed me", and ended-up wanting to come home early. Notice that Lynn doesn't have any glitter on her dress? That's because I got the fun of washing her dress 4 times trying to get forklift grease out of it from the trunk-or-treat the night before. She says that she wishes she'd have listened when I told her not to play on dad's forklift. Thanks Christie for the goo be gone.. it did the trick. I owe you a bottle!
We didn't have too big a showing. I started to give out lots of candy, just to get rid of it...
I already have Thanksgiving decorations up, and the birthday countdown calendar.. Lynnie-lou will soon be 6!!!
We enjoyed the last night of the season at Lagoon last night. We really made the most of it too.
Feeling kind down today... but I guess we all have those days...
Maybe I just need some PANCAKES...

I told you they were coming..

MiKell, Me, and Kaitlyn, risked life and limb, to get our kicks riding the Skycoaster at Lagoon...
Getting in our jumpsuit apparatus...
Just a wee bit excited...
Wanting to do it again!
Thanks to Brooke for taking the pics on MiKell's cell phone... she didn't come prepared with living batteries in her own... geez, doesn't she know that we all count on her and her camera yet?! ( just kidding ya Brookers :)..)

Random ramblings of randomness...

So I was in the shower today, the best place to think;)... and I got a lot of thinking done...
Of course it is all about blogging and what I should really record before it gets forgotten.
Merrill took his first shower since the whole cyst thing happened. He's been taking baths, which he says are disgusting because you are just sitting in a soup of your own filth, so pretty much pointless. He was so relieved to be washing his own hair and to shave his face. I miss the scruff already :(. I suggested a good make-out session to say goodbye to it, he was ready to have it gone.
So work on the deck, otherwise known as "that big hole off the back of my house", has somewhat resumed. I should re-gain my home instead of having "the New Yankee Workshop" in my living room and eating area. Nothing like dining with a chop saw...
We are getting prepared for kindergarten! We have been buying some cute tops (and ribbon to make the matching bows, thanks to Christie...) when we are out. I would have her school supplies all purchased if I could just remember to bring along her supply list! I swear, I've been out to Riverdale at least every other day for the past week and a half. Don't get me started on how much gas I've burned through.
We also briefly talked about moving, down the street but a different ward. LOVED the home... not so much the idea of a new ward, or the minimal yard (we want bigger for the girls), but mostly didn't love the higher monthlies. They wouldn't be awful, or impossible, but we don't want to go give up our comfort level, being able to do extra stuff. Plus, who knows how soon, but we will eventually have to get a new vehicle... can you say monthly payment? We haven't had one of those for years! But I still day dream about that house...
Ash will hopefully be going to pre-school for a couple of days out of the week. All the anxiety I felt about them growing up and being away form me, gone... Somehow, being home with them during the summer time has helped to lessen my feelings of wanting them to be near me ALL THE TIME... really near each other for any prolonged period of time. How is that drive to Bullfrog going to go?
The girls asked Mer to tell them a bedtime story last night. It was all about his cyst and the history of the cyst... they wanted to know about it, and asked that it be the topic of their bedtime story. They were quite intrigued. I had not a child wake me with nightmares of a cyst, or the ooze contained within, so I guess it was a winner of a bedtime story!
We stayed up kind of late talking. Those are always good times... we decided that Ashley is our Joe. We decided this after hearing her totally rip one in her sleep, and then laugh about it, in her sleep. She has also started this new thing of torturing Lynn. When they are in their room changing, she'll pull down her panties just enough that her butt crack is peeking out the top. She then turns it to Lynn and says, "Touch my butt Lynn!" And Lynn freaks out. So then it is funny to her, and Ash chases her around, running backwards with her butt pointing out, mind you, chanting, "Touch my butt! Touch my butt!" Great fun. She is our Joe. Such a teaser...
My scriptures were missing. In all of my house cleaning, which hasn't been done to my satisfaction the past couple of weeks, I found them. They were right in front of my face, but I guess it was that thing where you hypnotize yourself because you see it there so often, it's like it's not there...
I bought a new toy... a Swiffer Vac. I HATE trying to sweep my floors. I HATE EVEN MORE trying to vacuum them with my piece of crap vacuum and the attachment, being hunched-over like I am Quasimoto. It's also great fun to have the vacuum tip over on me from behind and either scratch up my ankle, or scare me to death with it whapping my behind. So, basically, I love my new little Swiffer Vac.
We also had FHE with Mer's family Monday. We all went to Lagoon and had a blast. Kaitlyn, MiKell, and I all rode the Sky Coaster. I'll post pics of that later.. it was SOOOO FUN! I wish Mer wouldn't be such a sissy and do it with me. He got panicky on top of the Rocket... I asked him last night if he was going to attempt wake boarding this year at Powell, he said he doesnt think his body can take it. I kind of amen-ed that one. I want to try so bad, but I worry about getting hurt and being out of commission. He said, "Yeah, I was scared that you were going to get messed up on the Sky Coaster and then I'd be solo." Glad he didn't give me that negativity when I was about to take the plunge!
Peyton is doing the cute eyes-squinted-gummy smile. I love it!
I am looking forward to having and enrichment night tonight and being nourished by the good word of Christie. She's awesome!
Now how was all that for random?

Summertime Rules and Regulations.

Here's to summer...
Last night, well night before last if you really wanna look at it that way... we had an FHE about our summertime rules. We went over lots of information with the girls. Everything from what bugs and spiders are good and we shouldn't run screaming from them, to which ones we should tell mom and dad about and not touch. Swimming rules. Staying in the yard rules. Stranger Danger. What to do if they get lost or separated from us. Chores. Keeping food in the kitchen. The one that I always hate to even bring up because it makes me feel so sad that this world isn't a safe place... good touching and bad touching. We have talked with them about it before, but...
There was an incident this last week in Orem with a mom and her little girl at a Wal-Mart. The mom left her little girl in the shopping cart to go around the corner and get an item. A stranger came up and touched her underneath her shorts. The girl told her mom, the mom saw the guy, and he knew that she had told on him and he ran. So we have to teach our children now, that even when they think that they are safe, it is possible that bad things can still happen. I don't want to teach my kids to fear everyone and every situation, but I think it is important to teach them what isn't acceptable and what they should do about it. I want them to know that I know what goes on and they should tell me if it were to happen.
So tonight we quizzed the girls at dinner.
Me: "Okay Ash, pretend like I am a stranger... 'Hi little girl. What's your name?'"
Ash: "Ashley!"
Mer: "Buzzz!"
Lynn: "She did it wrong! Let me do it!"
Me: "Now remember, I am a stranger...'Hi little girl. Your mom wants me to take you home. I have candy in my car, c'mon.'"
Lynn: "Nope. What's the password?"
Me: "Fartknocker?"
Ash: (giggle)
Lynn: "Nope!"
We have taught them that they can still be friendly, not grumps, but to keep their distance.
We also went to see the hotel. It has a second floor now! It is so amazing to see it is really happening. Every day, something new is going on down there. It's so cool to watch and to know that this is just another part of our future.
Kevin and Randee lost the baby... I feel so bad for him, since this is his first experience at fatherhood... I hope it happens for them soon.
Ally has gotten me in the mood to scrap. Since I am feeling better, but still don't have the energy back, I have been trying to get caught up on housework before I play. Today I was all set out to get all the floors done. I busted my butt to get everything in it's rightful place and clean up trash along the way, got all the vacuuming done and went to use my favorite tool (well, up until today...) the Swiffer. To my horror, it just wouldn't work. I replaced the batteries thinking that was the kink, nope, nothing. Now I do have to say that Ashley has a little kindergarten crush on the Swiffer. She has Swiffer radar and knows when the cleaning closet is open and goes to the Swiffer and presses the button just to hear the sound it makes. I keep the cleaner separate, because I have learned that she likes to do that. So I thought that she wore out the batteries. Apparently it is something far, far worse... my floors aren't as clean as I had hoped they would be.
But I do plan to play tomorrow!
We spent part of the evening at Lagoon... three year old metldowns as we leave the park and five year olds falling off of retaining walls... might just keep us away for a little while. Peyton was the best behaved.
As the girls were going to bed, we had to explain the science of shadows to Ashley. She thinks that they will hurt her. That was interesting. She just couldn't seem to stay in bed after that. She got up to go to the bathroom, again. To get a drink, and then to tell us, "Goodnight, don't let the big bugs bite." And finally, she brought in her blanket to me and asked if I would "decorate it on her". I have no idea how she came up with that word for spread it out... so I "decorated" her, and they were out. And now my post is done, and so is my float!

I feel like dog poo...

I woke up this morning feeling like poo. Poo that has been sitting in the hot sun, then stepped in, then smeared on the ground. Yup, that bad.
I started feeling it last night, but didn't think much of it. We enjoyed an evening at Lagoon, the first of many this summer... Peyton and I walked a lot while Mer took the girls on rides. Ash is too much of a chicken to go on anything by herself. This three child thing is difficult at the moment. We got home, and I felt kinda started to feel bad then.
But this morning...
I woke up and felt really bad (that's where the smeared part comes in...) my head hurt, my throat hurt, my right ear (yes, that specific) hurt... I felt dizzy when I got up. I was pretty much useless. To make matters funner... Lynn came and told me that her "mouth hurt". After further investigation, I discovered what she really meant was that her throat hurt. Peyton wasn't happy unless she was drugged-up too, there's no her-telling-me what is bothering her... more rounds of Tylenol on mom!
Sickness
!!!
Bleh
!
I did manage to get a good nap in today, the girls were cooperative. The best cure for feeling like poo is to stay in bed with the sweetest baby ever, nurse and sleep, a lot.
Mer did church solo (thanks Christie my conductor replacement extraordinaire and others for holding down the Primary front...). I am feeling better now, but still not 100%.
Here's to lots of water and Tylenol!
Ashley was pretending to be a kitten today, I caught her licking Peyton's face...
Now how on earth could we be getting sick???
