Mik's Mi'kmaq

It took me a solid two years (and then some) to get around to painting up my "Choctaw". Once I finally got started, they really only took about a week or so, but two years to get to them was murder. They're finished and I'm fairly pleased.

The figs are 40mm Native Americans from Sash and Saber Castings. Way back when, we were talking some skirmish level French & Indian War in 40mm, and typing it here now, it still sounds like a pretty good idea! I'd like to add, maybe, ten more figs to my scouting band; five French Couereurs de Bois, and I'd like to add five more Native Americans, but armed with maybe bows or hand weapons. It'd give me a twenty strong 'warband' perfect for skirmishing during the Seven Years War! I'm just getting started...

Originally I had gone with the Choctaw tribe, but I wanted a tribe closer to the Great Lakes theater during the war, I came across the name Mi'kmaq, and that kind of sealed the deal. I've got a lot of projects going on all of the sudden...

A Fistful o' Choctaw

Here they are, ten Choctaw in skirmish formation, with black powder rifles. After being publicly goaded into getting them assembled (and painted) over on Andy's nefarious site, I decided to put glue to metal. Check out some of his pics too, those guys look great. I'm going to paint these up as Choctaw, though they are ambiguous enough to really represent any tribe of the time period. These form the first leg of a future French & Indian War project. I still need to paint 'em up, obviously, and spread some epoxy to round out their bases. Oh, they're 40mm by the way, and I should also point out that they came via a birthday present thanks to the aforementioned Andy.

Here's their unceremonious "before" shot.
