For the last 3 months of 2012, I took
Becky Higgin's Project Real Life class at
Big Picture Classes. I had done Project Life in 2010 and 2011 - and loved those albums. But for 2012, I took a break to do other things for the year. And then I was sucked in to do Project Life again with Becky's class. The class itself was great - a whole new perspective on things to document in our daily lives. The class coincided with our move to Colorado, so it was a great way to detail the changes we were living through.
These Project Life layouts are the same traditional layouts I had done in the
past. I used cards from the core kits I had from 2010 and 2011 - seven photos per layout, plus a journaling card for each photo.
After I finished documenting the prompts from the class, I decided to get a little fancier with my Project Life layouts. I started with this one, documenting how we were getting ready for Christmas.
I used regular Project Life core kit cards plus Christmas paper and embellishments from my stash. Love how it turned out. It made the whole process feel much more creative for me - something I had missed in my previous years of doing Project Life.
I've been subscribing to
Studio Calico - love their kits - and they've come out with a monthly Project Life kit that coordinates with their main kit. I was able to get their very first kit with January 2013's
Block Party. Love the bright colors and fun designs. They also offered a class this month called Day by Day which focused on Project Life, with exclusive printables and Silhouette cut files. It's been very fun. I used the Block Party Project Life kit items with other pieces to create this layout.

Next up, a layout using various cut files from Studio Calico documenting a week of family visiting us over the holidays. Another thing I like about this version of Project Life is that I'm not focused on taking a photo a day - or even seven photos per week. I'm simply documenting our life as it happens, not focused on the time frame. It works so much better for me.

Finally, I created a Christmas Project Life layout using the Winter Wonderland collection from My Mind's Eye.
I'm loving this creative approach to Project Life. It feels creative, yet I'm able to document our life as it happens. So, I've almost finished up the last few weeks of December 2012. On to 2013...thanks for looking!
