Sharkdependence Day
And should we win the day, the 4th of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day when the world declared in one voice:
I have had it with these mother f'in sharks on this mother f'in spaceship!
Daniel Fortine made this Sharknado/Independence Day mashup for the Brothers-Brick Bricknado 2 contest.

Shrinkomatic contest
FBTB is hosting Palpatine's Shrink-O-Matic Ray Contest.

You are challenged to build a SW vehicle at the scale of the microfigs found in LEGO games. You know, these guys:

As some inspiration (or intimidation), the first entry I've seen is Chris Maddison's depiction of General Grevious escaping from Obi-Wan:

Microbuild LEGO Tournament 2012

Over on Toys N Bricks they recently held a Microbuild LEGO Tournament 2012, challenging builders to come up with buildings in the style of the Mini Modulars set. The winners were announced recently. First prize went to Striderhiryu for his Brick Fever nightclub and second was won by Dilbert12's theater. All of the entries can be found here.

And the winner is ...
The winners have been announced in the Eurobricks Architecture contest. We'll count down over the next few days. Fifth place was shared by two entries, Blake Baer's Matsumoto Castle and unbornchikken's Getty Center. These are both awesome, but I was particularly happy to see the second one, as I used to live in Los Angeles and went to the Getty several times.

Architecture Contest
I actually don't think I've specifically highlighted this contest, though I've featured several of the entries here. Over on Eurobricks they are holding an Architecture Building Contest, challenging you to build a microscale world landmark in the style of the LEGO Architecture sets. There are only a couple more days for this (deadline is this Saturday), so if you've been planning on entering, you'd better hurry.
