More toys

It's time for some more micro-toys for mini-folk. Rick3691 has built a Star Destroyer and another spaceship.

Dspatten has a train set up around the Christmas tree.

Finally, I've blogged this one before, but it deserves multiple mentions. Michael Jasper's great Frechen 2007 shows scenes from a German AFOL gathering. The figs are showing off their creations, including an Eiffel Tower, a Yellow Castle 375, several trains, R2-D2, and micro versions of MOCs that were actually on display at the real event.

Truth, justice, and the teeny tiny way

Brock V and Thomas and Thomas Schaffer made what they call Star Wars super minis, microscale MOCs built with an absolute minimum of pieces. Some of them do look pretty bad, but there are a few that are surprisingly evocative given the very small piece count, such as the Gungun sub, Slave 1, and the Rebel Blockade Runner.

Finally, LOL at the Death Star. That's no moon!

Time for a vacation

Deborah Higdon posted a great Caribbean resort. My favorite detail is the furniture around the pool. Also note how picket fences are incorporated to give a detail to the roof-lines of the bungalows (Jason Alleman helped figure out this detail).

Executor

A while ago, Lasse Deleuran built an awesome micro version of the Executor Super Star Destroyer.

Inspired by this, Matt R built his own version.

Little people build littler MOCs

Recently I've seen three different vignettes about building LEGO. I considered posting these on VignetteBricks, but these are great examples of mixing fig scale and microscale, so, in chronological order, here are scenes from Crises, the Jinja Ninja and Stefan1987.

Star Wars

Chris Deck has added a Trade Federation Droid Starfighter to his fleet of Star Wars micros. He's got a ton of other great Trade Federation vehicles on his site, SW.DeckDesigns.de, such as a Lucrehulk-class Cargo Hauler, an AAT, and a Landing Ship.

Window into microscale

LEGO stores around the country feature "Window into the community" displays, where LUGs can show off their MOCs. BayLUG, the San Francisco area club, has had several micro-themed displays. In January, 2006, they had a San Francisco theme.

In May-June, 2006, it was micro space (follow the link for much better close-up pictures of individual elements).

Recently (when?) it was suburbs (plus Coit Tower).

Sci-fi-tastic

Some great sci-fi creations I missed along the way. Somehow I missed Nnenn's great TB12-Porcilm dropship, but thankfully Snoikle and the Brothers Brick both pointed it out. The awesome thing about this is how it opens up to let out little rovers. Check out the use of guns as a chassis on the attack rover.

DRK-1 has a great Blacktron base.

JordanN has a whole series of great Battletech Mecha.

Iconic

Playing a little catch-up here. Winner of the July Microspacetopia Icon Contest was JordanN's TonicII. Be sure to get in your entry for the August contets, with the theme "spacey ground vehicles."

Airborne has a great Tank (with instructions).

Star Wars fleet

The 75th anniversary of LEGO was just a couple of days ago. At a celebration at Billund, BrickCommander displayed a fleet of Star Wars ships.

Jediwannabe has a dropship.

Brickmann has a minitrain.

Tiny giant

If you haven't been living under a rock, surely you've seen pictures of the giant LEGO fig that washed up on a Dutch beach. It seems it was a sculpture on display at the Dance Valley festival in the Netherlands. No one knows how, but this ended up floating in the ocean, and it was pulled up on a beach and put on display. Will M. has recreated the scene in microscale.

Links in the sidebar

I'm trying to keep a fairly comprehensive list of links on the right-hand sidebar. --> I've added a new category, "image hosting", for all of the various image hosting options that have come up recently (largely spurred by the recent Brickshelf crisis), and also added missing resource sites, communities, and blogs. It would be impossible to add every LUG site or smaller forum (no offense to those with smaller forums), so I had to make some judgments, but please let me know if there's anything major I missed.

LDD

Henning Birkeland has a whole gallery of MOCs made with LEGO Digital designer, including an airport, a tractor, an oil rig, and a train. Also check out Henningb.com.
