Some Flying Things

Every so often, the planes fly over Riverside Park.  Usually I am busy catching a ship to take pictures but sometimes I get pictures.

This is an A321 that was coming in from Atlanta.
A Robinson R44 Helicopter doing its normal tour.

And Then I Saw a Bird in the Sky

I saw this guy a couple of times, but I decided to take pictures this time.

This was a Robinson R44 helicopter flying out of Detroit City Airport.
They use it to do tours of the city.

A Helicopter

There is a company that does helicopter tours.
This is one of the helicopters.  I think it is like a 30 minute tour which would be pretty cool, I think.

A Helicopter

As I was waiting for my ship, I saw this guy too.

This is a Robinson Helicopter.
I think it is doing tours but I'm not sure.

A Helicopter Flies Over

As I was waiting for the next ship, there was a helicopter that flew over.

This one was flying out of the Detroit City Airport.
I think it was just doing tours of downtown.
And it was heading back.

A Robinson R44 Flies Overhead

I decided to head down to the river today.  I saw that there were a couple of ships that were stirring about.  I think a couple of them were making their last trips of the season.

As I waiting for the first ship to pass.  This Robinson R44 passed over.
I think it was heading over to Grosse Ile.
One more shot.

A Robinson R44 Helicopter

I see this helicopter fairly often.

This is a Robinson R44.
I think it does tours of the Detroit River.  I'm not sure of the website.
I'm also not sure if it goes from Grosse Ile or the Detroit City Airport.  Either way, it was pretty neat to see.

A Helicopter Flies Overhead

So after dilly dallying all day, I decided to head up to Port Huron to catch a ship.  Well I turns out that I ended up catching two of them.  I'm fine with that.

While I was waiting for the first ship to pass, I saw this guy fly overhead.
This is a Robinson 44 helicopter.  That means it carries four passengers.  I'm not sure who this belongs to but I'm sure I've seen it before.  I think it might have been doing bridge flyovers.

A Helicopter

As I was taking a picture of the American Century.  I heard the sound of a helicopter, so I looked up.

It was a Robinson R66.
I'm not sure where it was heading.
but it was pretty neat to see.

A Robinson Helicopter Flies Over

Another thing while I was waiting for the Alpena.

This is a Robinson R44.
The Robinson R44 is a four seater helicopter based on the Robison R22.  It has been in production since 1992 and over 6000 have been produced.  This model was used to develop the Robinson R66 which is the six seater.

Catching a Robinson Helicopter

There is a tour helicopter that passes over Belle Isle.  I think it flies over about once an hour.

This particular helicopter flies out of Grosse Ile.  Flights start at $49 and go up from there.  I think this is part of the 30 minute tour.

Some Aircraft Over Belle Isle

Again, while I was waiting for my first ship.

I think this helicopter operates out of the Detroit City Airport and I think it offers tours.
I think this one operates out of Grosse Ile and I know it operates tours of the river.
Another view of the first helicopter.
I went a little later in the week and caught the same helicopter.
I also caught this Beech Bonanza flying over.  I think this one is based out of Windsor.

One of These Things is Not Like the Others

I am starting to see more helicopters fly by Belle Isle as I take pictures of ships.

I think this is a Robinson R44 and it operates from Detroit City Airport.
I'm not sure who owns it.
This is another Robinson R44 and it comes out of Grosse Ile.
I see this helicopter fairly often.
And I know it runs tours.
The first helicopter I saw.  It was up again.
I'm not sure who this helicopter belongs to.
As I was taking a picture of one of the ships, I saw this guy fly over.  It was an A330 and I think it was arriving from Amsterdam.

Some Flying Things Over Belle Isle

As I was waiting for my next ship, I saw these aircraft flying by.

These are a pair of Vans aircraft.  Vans airplanes are kit aircraft.  Both of these are Vans RV-6 and RV-7.  The kits are produced in Oregon and the planes are built wherever.  Both of these were built in Canada.
This is a Robinson helicopter.  I think it was flying out of City Airport in Detroit.

A Frequent Visitor Flies Overhead

I was going to go catch the Oberstar on the Rouge River but she stopped for a train.  I wasn't sure if she was stopping for the train or docking, so I decided to head over to Belle Isle to catch another ship.  It's one I haven't seen in a while.

While I was waiting for the ship to appear, this guy flew overhead.
It is the same Robinson R44 I always see.

Apparently they offer river tours out of Grosse Ile.  I might have to check it out sometime.

he flew behind me but I was busy with the Manitowoc at the time.  As he flew over the Ambassador Bridge, I had to get a picture.

Catching a Robinson

Every so often, a helicopter will fly over Riverside Park.
this is a Robinson R44 Helicopter which means it can carry 4 passengers.
It is bigger than the Robinson R22.
One more shot before moving to the next subject.

A Robinson Helicopter Passes Overhead

Every time I heard the sound of an aircraft passing overhead, I have to look up.
Especially if that is the sound of a helicopter because they are so cool.
I think this was a Robinson R44 Helicopter which is slightly bigger than the R22.
I think this is one of the more common helicopters in existence.

A Robinson Helicopter Passes By

As I was taking pictures of the Anderson, I heard the distinctive sound of a helicopter.
it was behind me, so I turned around and saw this Robinson R44.
The Robinson R44 is a four seat helicopter based on their R22 model.  It first flew in 1990 and a little over 6,000 have been produced.
It is a pretty neat looking helicopter.
