Celebrating Kids Birthday Parties With New Recipes

Recipes for kids birthday parties need to please a wide variety of palettes from kids to parents. You can incorporate a favorite food, such as macaroni and cheese, but make it special for the party. You could even try a fried version. Use smaller portions to pass around as appetizers for the adults. Here are some other ideas.

Theme Meals

Oftentimes kids birthday parties feature a movie, book, or cartoon character. Incorporate the colors of the movie logo into your meal with food coloring. You can also come up with creative names for old favorites or eat the actual food that is in the book. If you are serving a buffet-style meal, then put the names of each dish on a card, along with the humorous name or fun graphics so guests know what each dish is.

Theme Cakes

The cake is the centerpiece of any birthday party. You could take a princess cake in a lot of different directions depending on your skill level. You could try a basic sheet cake with candy accents that look like jewels. If you pick up dessert from a bakery you can get unique airbrushing to simulate a crown.

Colorful Cakes

If your birthday party doesn't have a theme, then you can just go with a bright color palette or your kid's favorite colors. Your child can even help with the decorating. Just pick a different color for every tier. Then use piping bags to add simple accents such as dots or numbers. This allows you to tie all of your child's favorite colors together in one piece.

Food Favors

The party favor can include both your theme and food. If you use a circus theme, then give out bags of cotton candy. Use animal crackers for a safari party. For a princess theme, you can look for candy rings or necklaces.

His choice

He has a great choice when it comes to ice cream. Whenever we are at Robinson's Mall, he drags us to this ice cream haven..

The dad can't say No because it's his favorite too. We spent an hour enjoying our ice cream. I managed to even read about some best colon cleanse procedures that I found really interesting at the magazine. Good food and quality time with my family really makes my weekend so complete. I always look forward to this simple moment made special. I know that all moms out there share with my feelings. Today is almost Thursday, and I seriously can't wait for the weekend again. Ice cream is truly the best this summer.

Eat and be merry

Here's what we had during our Anniversary Dinner at TGIF . We were so hungry when we arrived at ATC that early Friday night, and at first glance of the place, me and hubby decided to eat there. As usual, they never disappointed us with their food and service! We actually didn't finished the pasta because we were soo full already. We had it wrapped and ate it the next day at the hotel/

With the way i am eating lately, i am definitely not losing any weight! I should try out those fat burning pills online and read more about it, like the lipofuze review . We are heading to the beach next month , and no amount of exercise and diet can help me now.

Pizza with the boy

Here's one thing that me and my boy enjoyed last week. I asked him to help me out in the kitchen as I prepared this for our afternoon snacks while the princess was in deep slumber.

He enjoyed the part where we brushed the crust with the sauce :) He also helped me to put some sliced hams, then I grated the cheese directly on top. For the items that we used , here :

and here's the pizza before i had it toasted in an oven . lots of cheese !

I actually forgot to take the picture of the little boy since my hand was full during that time. Hopefully we can try another recipe soon, something as simple as this :)

recipes and a lot more

I love to cook and its really one of passions lately. Whenever I have a new recipe, I let my husband have a taste of my masterpiece. . I am very proud of what I can accomplish , since I can definitely cook well, as people always say. Once, I tried to test my cooking skills by preparing a Tuna or Chicken Pesto for dinner. And to my amazement, when dinner came the chicken pesto is already served. The aroma, wow it’s like coming back to our favorite Italian restaurant. A few friends asked me where am i getting the recipes; I said to them that i was able to discover a site called http://www.foodconnect.com where you just type what recipes you are looking for. I was able to check the site and some of the features of it include, sharing your recipes with your friend, discussion about recipe ideas and techniques with other people and also nutritional analysis of your recipes… this is really great since you can have this site analyze the nutritional content of what you are eating. Also this site helps you to plan your meal, and create a dinner party.

After checking the site, my stomach begins to crumble again. Im off to trying a few more yummy recipes soon.

Pesto is Gelo's new favorite.

I think Carbonara has found a rival.

I cooked my 2nd Pesto for this week. Gelo is back on diet.. for the nth time. So since I am a supportive wife, ayan, pinagluto ko ng pesto sauce:) I topped it with grilled chicken strips before serving or tuna sometimes.. he even tried using the pesto sauce ( Extra virgin olive oil with basil) for his Romaine Salad.. LOL.. It tastes good.. We even sprinkled a bit of Italian Seasoning.. yum yum:)

Sorry, no pics for now, tamad si buntis:)

My cup of tea

We may all know by now what a tea is. But do we really know how it originated, it's origin and how we've come to enjoyit's flavors now? Tea is an infusion made by leaves, buds or twigs. Even in the ancient times, Chinese people are mostly into teas, and they best enjoy it when it's hot. Each kind of tea undergoes different processes and it is thoroughly performed to ensure it's taste. I grew up in a house where people loves to drink tea.

I have seen my Grandma brew some leaves to perfection. She always reminded me how good it is for my health and for my body, but I wasn't a big fan of teas then. I only got to enjoy tea when it was introduced with flavors such as Lemon and mango , and it should be cold, with ice as I would prefer it. But lately, my sister received some Pear Tea samples from her doctor, and she asked me to give it a try since it is reall good even when it's hot.. So I gave it a try, prepared myself one sachet of it, and I tried to drink it while it's hot. Wow! I really never tasted a tea like this. I got hooked drinking it, so I bought myself a box from the store the day after. I have been drinking it for a month now, and I see to it that i have my dose on mornings. Pear Teas are on of he smoothest blends and it gives you that extra lift for your day. After I got addicted with it, I tried some other white teas in the market. There's also a Silver Needle Tea , but this one is not really my type, since it is a bit strong for my taste. But Gelo said it's good power drink for him. Ireally found teas good anti oxidants for the body too. I have never felt cleansed as before. I am enjoying this more now than the iced flavored ones in restaurants. I always thought that Teas tastes like leaves, but I was really wrong with that perception. That is why I am writing this to enlighten those who are not into teas yet. The pear, pomegranate, and Tangerine teas are so tasteful and rejuvinating to the body. I also plan to get myself some tribute Eyebrow? What is that? Tribute Eyebrow is considered to be the third grade of white tea. It is made from a special tea bush and is processed slightly differently to other white teas. I am greatly enjoying white etas now, so brace yourself for some more posts about it soon. Have your cup of tea today

Breton is Breton

I have posted many times about Crepes and Cream and how it is now one of our fave merienda / sweet stop while at the mall. Yes, it tastes yummy for me and for Gelo. We are so hooked with the Savory Crepes (create your own), and i really suggest you try out tuna, mozzarella and lettuce for a good snack. The possibilities are endless , make sure you do the right combination hehehe :) But so far, this is my fave order. For their sweet crepes ilove the Choco Banana HAzelnut with Choco Ice Cream since I dont like Vanilla hehehe. MOst are priced at Php95 , and for that price, sulit na:)

I haven't tried their Mango Crepe because I am reserving that for Cafe Breton. Their La Pinay would be my forever favorite. Breton is Breton when we talk about Mango Crepe. I am currently craving for anything sweet ( noticed I posted a cake topic before this), so i might ask gelo to check the nearest 7-11 in our place to grab me and ice cream na lng hahaha. I hope I can get a bite of my La Pinay on Sunday at Podium after Joaqui's gym class.

Lava Cake

I have seen it at Jane's blog, and since I love sweets, I asked Gelo to get me one since he's at Festival Mall yesterday. He just bought the sampler size worth 75 pesos and it was so bitin, since I shared two bites with Gelo , and a little part of it for my sister. We all loved it. Gelo and I loves moisted choco cakes, and this one is moisted and yummy, it passed our taste test hehehe. Thanks for sharing Jane:) Now i aasked Gelo to get the bigger sized one.

To all my blogging friends, share your yummy finds ah:) Cakes.. a good resto.. anything about food.. :)

The taste of Russian Food

Ever since my family transferred to California, teey bacame so busy with work that cooking wasn't really one of my mom's daily chores. At most times, mom would just preapare something quick to prepare and re heat. Though she still makes it a point to give them a variety every week. But at most times, since all of the are working with different working hours, they don't get to spend the lunch or dinner together. So on weekends, she makes it a point to prepare something special. Or at most times, they would dine out and get a taste of a new cuisine. They have tried Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Korean to name a few. But just recently, my mom shared to me her most latest food discovery.

They went to LA to visit my cousin and my family, and they tried out the best in Russian food. Los Angeles Russian Food is really making it big in the place. Mommy never thought that russian food would be one of her favorites. It was her first time to try it , and she only had good words about it. Now I am thinking, where can I get russian food here. So I asked her what they tried out, and she said, almost every entree. They had a russian salad appetizer , and the main entrees in pork, fish and vegetables. They even had desserts and coffee! Wow! I really feel full upon hearing her stories. And so I asked her how was the ambiance at the restaurant? And she said that it was impeccable. She even commented on the service that the staff provided to them. They really felt welcome in the place. She really can't say anything bad at all. It actually feels like she's inside Russia's fine dining restaurant. Oh.. i just felt envy, I wish I was with them to experience that too. Oh well, I think I will just look for an alternative place here first, then who knows, I might visit them there too.. and soon i will be tasting the perfect russian food LA offers.

We had so much fun that night, power eating again! We went home around 12:30 but traffic at the tollgate was terrible, considering it was almost 1am already. We used my MIL's adventure and it doesn't have an E-Pass hehehe. Only a few lanes were open, so we have no choice but to wait in line..

But nevertheless, it's one memorable night of eating and bonding time with my cousins.

sinfully delicious.

I tried my very own choco fountain this week , and here's a sampler ...

I just used the choco bar from SM at Php 70 yata per 500 g, and it actually tastes good, even more than what I expect considering it's price. I just used one bar for my trial, and there's still a lot that wasn't consumed that I kept at the fridge. We all enjoyed the choco fountain experince here at home. Can't wait for our family gatherings this season :) Yan na share ko :) LOL!

Joy San Gabriel Cakes

I first spotted her works during a bridal fair at Westin way back Feb of 2005 when I was still busy with our wedding preps. From that moment, I decided that I should get our cake from her. We met , and had a smaple of her works.. and yes.. I instantly love her and her yummy cakes.

Click here for the better view of the cake alone :) We had her Kilauea, A choco walnut cake that is so tasteful.. A lot of our guests asked for her contact details after hehehe.

A year after, we met again. I asked her to do the cake for Joaqui's baptism. And here it is.. all edible..as in! Love eating the teddies :)

I wasn't able to get her during Joaqui's birthday, coz I never thought she's into cupcakes na din pala. I saw her cake stall St. Gabbie's at Megamall A, (they also have a place at Market! Market!), they don't have her design cakes there, but they do sell the choco mud cake, which is a must try for choco lovers. I sent her a message last Saturday after seeing her booth, and she said that her blog is up and running, and I was amazed with her new works.. Take a look

Now, you have it and can eat it too-- an all edible apple walnut cake!

To Joy, Thanks for the yummy cakes and for the wonderful friendship. You are more than a supplier for me. I'm actually ordering one for my MIL's birthday on Novemebr. Gelo is craving for the Kilauea Cake.. so might order mini versions so we can give it away to relatives after:)

You can reach Joy at 0917-5278837 :) enJOY the cake!

cooking mode

First of all, I am not a good cook. That one i truly admit. But i always try my best to learn new things when in comes to cooking. I seldom cook, mostly prito lang. But I have 2 recipes now that I wanna share with moms like me na hindi naman ganun kagaling sa kitchen. BElieve me, this is super easy, baka matalo nyo pa si Judy Ann sa Ysabella pag natikman to ng hubbies nyo LOL

So ito na... good luck sa ating lahat..

BBQ NI PEACHY ( sorry , wala na ako maisip na recipe name)

Ingredients:

1 Kilo Pork ( basta ung ginagamit sa BBQ )
1 pack Clara Ole BBQ Marinade
minced Garlic
sugar

Lets start:

1. Ilagay yung pork sa bowl or something like a tupperware for marinating, then pour the clara ole BBQ Marinade.

2. I put on minced garlic para mas yummy and about 2 teaspoons of sugar para a little sweet and saucy sya later on. ( when the sugar melts, parang nag caramelize sya, o diba?!)

3. Marinating overnight would be the best option.

Ito na ang secret .. how to cook..

1. In a small casserole, pour the pork with the marinade. WAG lagyan ng oil ha?! As in the mixture and pork lang. PArang simmer lang sya. You will notice na mag thicken ung mixture nyo. It means your on the right track hehehe. Then mejo reddisch brown ung pork. Switch off na ang heat.

3. THen in a non stick pan, pour a little oil ( little lang po, di naman sya deep fried), then fry the pork in low heat. Dapat hinahalo habang fry while pouring in some of the thickend marinade from the casserole. You can use a spoon while pouring in some mixture during frying.

4. Mapapansin nyo na saucy na the pork BBQ :) Pag hindi saucy, naku, may mali kang nagawa hahaha!

5. Since na simmer na sya, sandali na lng sya i fry. Wag Sunugin ( do i really need to say this pa ba?! LOL)

6. Kung may natira pang marinade sauce, You can add this to a fried rice, syempre while u are frying the rice, add nyo lang sya. Gelo would sometimes pour the remaining sauce sa white rice na mismo.

Ayan, hindi nman sya mahirap di ba?! Promise mas masarap yan sa luto ni Ysabella. LOL

Try it out and tell me kung masarap ha. Kung hindi, turuan ko kayo, punta ako sa Bahay nyo hahaha..

Here's a Pic of the Clara OLe BBQ Marinade. I Think may spicy variant na din sila.

Watch out for my next recipe.. The Korean BBQ pork steak ! GOOD LUCK!
