Hot Stuff
This card I made about 2 weeks ago, but haven't been able to post it. Maybe just as well cause I had such a busy weekend I didn't make a thing, so nothing more to post now in any case.
This image is from Bugaboo, it's from the Sassy Gals range, and I love those images! I think they are so nice for guy cards, instead of the usual, golfer or handyman, or maybe a fisherman.... So who agrees with me, or do you think they're too risque?
I coloured the image with my prisma pencils, in fact it was a mix of prisma and lyra, then I cut it out with a craft knife. I used a previous Taylored Expressions sketch, I love the pdf file available from them with all their sketches it's super handy. I did the two circles with a nestie circle die, and the front one I put through my cuttlebug with the polka dot template.
I have to share quickly, I went to see Enrique last week Thursday, he was here for the opening of the Cricket 20/20 series. Anyhow, I am not his biggest fan, I don't even own a single CD, but a friend of mine wanted to go, so I said okay I'll go see him. Well he impressed me so much I'll go and see him again any time. What a genuinely nice guy, so down to earth and really appreciates all his fans, no matter who they are or what they look like! Of course he was yummy to look at, even if we were far, far away from the stage.
That's my post for today, pretty short and sweet, but I know no-one wants to be bored with lots of waffle, and who has the time to read it all, lol!

Coffee anyone?
At least I remembered what paper I used to match my image to. Now when I look at it again, it gives me a bit of a Christmassy feel, but it's not supposed to be. Oh well, it's done now, and hopefully someone will like it and want it, lol.
She is Chloe the coffee mug girl from Stamping Bella, and as usual I coloured her with prisma pencils, but I also used my lyra's for her hair. I have 3 lyra pencils I use in combination for a brownish reddish hair colour, but in this case I only used two of them to get the 'red' hair. I added a bit of glamour dust with my quickie glue pen, some bella dots and a bit of ribbon and that's it.
I know I complain about the weather a LOT, but you are just going to have to listen to me moan again!!! It is such horrible weather here in Jo'burg today, and apparently it is here to stay for the next few days. How unfortunate. It's cold, raining, and just miserable.
So two things I quickly want to share. Firstly, Jeanie, the Spotted Chick, has made the greatest sponging tutorial. If you have always wanted to know how it's done, or even if you want to check if you could possibly improve your sponging technique go check her tutorial. I loved it. Secondly, she has opened up her That's Krafty Thursday as a challenge, you can read all about it on her blog here. I am definitely joining in, hope you will all too. It will be fun!
I am going to install my webcam now. Hopefully soon I will be able to chat AND see all my buddies far far away. Anyone with Skype (it's free) let me know, we can chat some time.

Cutest Bunny
This bunny is from High Hopes Rubber Stamps, and she's called Posing Bunny. She is a real poser. She was also in the parcel that Jeanie sent me, see lots of images in that parcel.
I coloured her with a mix of lyra and prismacolor pencils, blended it with sansador (gamsol), and cut the image out with a circle nestability die. The border was done with my Martha Stewart doily lace border punch. Then I added some glamour dust with my quickie glue pen, and highlighted her teeth and nose with a glaze pen. They are perfect for precision.
After looking at Paula's grass tutorial I love adding grass to my images when it's needed it, but somehow my grass just never looks anything like hers! So Paula please no comment about my grass, when you come here to teach me I will finally get it right, rofl! Or alternatively I have ordered that webcam you and Jeanie have been nagging me about, so I could get a personal lesson, woohoo. How about that, lol.
I can't believe it is Sunday again, it feels like two days ago that I sat in front of the computer blogging. I have been colouring a bit this week, but so far this weekend I've only had time to make this one card.
My mom's 70th birthday is coming up in July, and my sister and I are trying to plan it well in advance. The reason I am telling you this is because I bought some images from Bugaboo stamps this past week to use for my mom's invitations and birthday cards. They are hilarious. Go and check out Stella, I had to stop myself or I would've bought every single one. (Like I don't have enough stamps and images!!)

Love is in the air...
Isn't this little bear adorable. He's from Whipper Snapper and he's called Love Bear, and I love him. He came in the pile of images Jeanie sent me, and he was one of the first to leave the pile for colouring, yay! Thanks again Jeanie.
I coloured him with a mix of lyra and prismacolor pencils and blended it with sansador (gamsol). The image was cut with a nestie square die, I added a bit of sewing, but PLEASE don't look at my sewing close-up. I am so bad at it. I cannot even sew a button, unless I absolutely have to, so please don't expect too much for more complicated stuff (yes, even with a fancy sewing machine). I added some glamour dust with my quickie glue pen, and a bit of glaze on his nose and the little bug, just to make them look a little more precious.
This card just like yesterday's was not made with anyone in mind, but I don't think it will stay that way for long. Who will be able to resist that little face. Yesterday's card with precious Jean and her zimmer frame was snatched up last night by my mom's friend. She just had to have it, even though she has no-one to give it to at this point in time.
I definitely can't sing, but I know who can. The latest bunch of contestants on American Idol. So I am off to go get the TV on so I can see who did what last week and who got voted off. Is anyone else watching!?
Till next time.

Puff (the love dragon)
This gorgeous little dragon named Puff is an absolute favourite of mine. I find him or her I guess, so adorable. I just want to go and hug him! Look how he has his arms, I mean wings, open and waiting, lol.
I coloured puff with a mix of Lyra and Prismacolor pencils, blended it with sansador (gamsol), and cut him out with my circle nestie. The paper is from Basic Grey, love the 6x6 pads.
I layered the image and the background paper on 2 way foam tape. I like having a raised look on my cards, it's funny how one gets into a style and then find it hard to break away.
My trip to Zurich was good except that I got so sick on my last day. I don't know if it was a stomach bug or food poisoning, but I finally started feeling better two days after I got back. It was not fun especially when I couldn't just crawl into my bed and sleep. But I'm all better now and looking forward to Easter weekend. A nice long weekend is just what the doctor ordered ;-)

Every girl's dream?
She is tutuface from Stamping Bella, and I think she is so sweet. Love how her hair if flying in the air. I had no-one in mind when I bought this stamp, nor when I made the card, but I am pretty sure it is going to find a good use soon. How can it not!
I coloured her with a combo of prismacolor and lyra pencils, I tend to use some of my lyra's to colour hair. They just give me the result I like. I cut the image with a square nestie then layered it on a scalloped nestie. The background was done with a cuttlebug template. I had to add some glamour dust to her dress, a ballerina has to glow just a little. The crocheted flower is one my mom made, of course. I have been nagging her to start making my little Jingle a blanket for winter. It is around the corner and she hasn't even bought the wool yet. I think I must nag more, lol.
I was about to come upstairs and download the pics of this card and my card for Friday when Jingle jumped on my lap again. Soon as I sit on the couch he's there. I still had the camera in my hand and took a few pics, they didn't come out that clear as I didn't want to use the flash and get the natural light rather. But here is Jingle now 3 months old and a real mommies boy, aaaah.
Alright then, I won't keep you much longer, I know it can be very time consuming to read all the posts, and I'm sure often my waffle is skipped. I so don't mind. There just isn't enough time to get to it all.

It's a Birthday Friday
A friend at the office asked me for a card for her daughter who's turning 7, and I am always challenged with the placement of the number. It's like this big obstacle I have to overcome whenever I have to put numbers on. Why is that, am I the only one....??
This cute image is another of Stamping Bella's fantastic collection, and she's called Meredith the teacup girl. Isn't she just too cute. I coloured her with a mix of prismacolor and lyra pencils, and blended with sansador. Cut the image with nesties and layered it on nesties, added some ribbon, glamour dust and the 7 of course. I hope it looks okay there where it ended up, cause if not it's too late, she's already got the card, lol.
Be sure to go and visit the Bellablog to see what the other babes have been up to, I have seen two of their creations and are they amazing. Jeanie, I LOVE it! Also remember if you leave a comment you can win some bella bucks to spend on lovely bella goodies.Off I go, it's raining AGAIN, in fact pouring. I have my very own dam in my garden already.

It's release day!
I was lucky enough to get given one of the new images to play with, but unfortunately I forgot to ask Emily what the name of the image is, lol. I am sure it will be easy to spot under the new release section once Emily has uploaded them.
I coloured these 4 cuties with a combo of prisma and lyra pencils, and blended it with sansador. I find that the grumtine smudges the images if they have been printed from a digital image. Weird, but at least there was solution. The image was cut with nesties and layer on nesties. I used my new fiskars punch, which I just love. I have seen it used on so many cards and finally I just had to get one myself.
I tried to have the one little girl stand out as the 'unique' one, but she is a little dull, I guess that could make one unique too! Anyhow, she looks different to the rest and that is what I wanted :-))
I also added some baubles for a little something extra, and some sakura glaze pen to her glasses. It is so clever, makes it look just like glass in real life.
Be sure to go and visit the Bella Blog to see what all is in the new release. I have seen some gorgeous images that my fellow Babes have on their blogs, you can find their links on the sidebar. I predict lots of new rubber is going to be on it's way to me, whooohooo!
By the way, I went to see The Killers last week Thursday, they came to visit South Africa as part of their world tour. At least they remember to include us, so many great bands just skip S.A. Anyhow, the concert was excellent, so if they're on their way to you, best you go and see them. Brandon Flowers, the lead singer, is just yummy!

ChiChiboulie blog hop
Now if you are not sure what this post is all about, then please start at Emily's blog. You should have come to me from Jackie's blog, if not then go back, or you'll miss lots of inspiration.
I choose Cecily Cinnamonstick for my card, and decided on some bright vibrant colours, as it is summer here in South Africa after all. Yeah you hopped all the way down to the bottom of Africa. Hopefully you still have the strength to hop on back, all the way to Canada, lol!
I coloured her with my Lyra pencils, blended with grumtine (gamsol or sansador) and layered her on a nestie mat. I added some glamour dust with my quickie glue pen, and a few highlights with my glaze pen. The crocheted flower is one my mom made for me. The green background was done with the Swiss Dot cuttlebug template. LOVE that template!!!
Now don't forget to leave a comment. One pre-selected blogger will draw a random winner from the comments on her post, the winner will receive a $25 gift voucher for Stamping Bella. But of course we're not telling you who it is! As you hop, make sure you leave comments on every post so you have a chance to win!! We will announce the winner on Friday in the Splitcoast forum. Don't forget there's a new release at Bellaland, that gift voucher could come in very handy, lol!!!
Okay time to hop on over to my fellow Bella DT member, Linda. I am sure she has the most gorgeous chichiboulie for us to drool over.

Surf's up!
I bought the stamp, cause I figured it would be a handy image to have for male cards, we all LOVE to make them don't we. I coloured it just for fun and don't have anyone it's going to. Gee another for my stash. I don't live anywhere near the coast, so it might stay in my stash for some time to come.
Surfafella is from Stamping Bella, of course, and he was coloured with a mix of prisma and lyra pencils. Only cause some of my lyra's are always next to me and I was too lazy to pull out some of the prisma's I needed and didn't get out from the start. I cut the image with nesties, tried something different by cutting some of the image out and then only the rest with the nesty. I quite like that. I also created a distressed flower, I've seen it so often and love them, and finally had to make one myself.
I am soooo tired tonight, I can't keep my eyes open. But I have to share quickly that this week's theme for Bellarific Friday is 'something for the kids' or 'anything kids'. How about that. Easy and fun and guess who's card is done... yeah yours truly. Now go on and get started and join us on Friday. You need to send your entry to Emily by Thursday evening, details are on the Bella Blog. ..........AND DON'T FORGET THE NEW RELEASE ON FRIDAY - THERE'S THE CUTEST STUFF COMING.
Oh no one more thing, no sleeping for me yet, there's a Bella chi-chiboulie blog hop this Saturday, details are here if anyone wants to join us.

Girls' night out
My mom's friend Jenni, is turning 80 this weekend, and she said these two ladies are just like her and Jenni when they visit and chat and shop and drink, and all the good things you can do with a great friend! I totally agree, and I think my mom is the one on the right, lol.
I used the Stamping Bella sketch from last week for this card. I have to say, I used to struggle terribly with sketches, but I am starting to like them a lot. If you make sure the image goes with the sketch, which I didn't do in the past, then it is SO much easier to put a card together... especially when you've seen it used.
This image is from Penny Black, the sentiment from Stamping Bella, cut out with a nestie of course. I inked the sentiment with a very light blue chalk ink.
The paper is from Basic Grey, again the 6x6 pad, and the white embossed paper was put through the swiss dot cuttlebug folder.
I've been busy hey? We had terrible weather this past weekend, so I couldn't do any DIY, didn't want to go out for food, actually I got home on Friday from work, parked my car in the garage and didn't take it out again until Monday morning when I had to go to work. That is my perfect weekend!!!
Stamping Bella has a great sketch this week, by none other than Paula, but fear not, it is a sketch for us normal folk this time, it won't give you a huge big headache. So who's going to join me, I am definitely participating. (You can find the sketch here.)
Now I'm out of here, Ellen Degeneres is on and I'm missing it....

A little thank you
I used one of my little Gorjuss Girls cause Debbi is such a gorgeous girl. I can't say I have used this image that often. Isn't it strange how we have to have all the stamps we could possible get our little hands on, but we don't have the time to use them all. Or is it just me who has that problem....!!???
This little girl was coloured with my lyra pencils, woooohooo the lyras came out the box, blended with sansador and paper stumps. I used a fiskars lace punch for the ribbon bit on the right. I guess there isn't much more to say about it is there now. No glitter, no glaze pens, no nesties - OH MY HAT!!! NO NESTIES!!!
Got to run, got colouring to do, deadlines to meet - hehehe, cards to make, and try and stay warm.
Don't forget the Bella release tomorrow! It's gonna be great, I just know it!!!! I feel it, in my bones!!! LOL!!!

Diva
I only recently got a couple of the Diva stamps from Stamping Bella, and I cannot tell you why I had never ordered them before. I just love them, they are great for woman my age, lol! The only difference with this image and myself is that I would have had 3 tequilas piled up on top of one another. I am not so sure though that I would be able to balance them that well. Then again, I would not have wasted time balancing them, but had them instead.
As usual I coloured the image with prisma pencils, but I did mix my lyras in there too. I used them for the hair. I cut the image out with nesties and mounted it on 3D pads.
When I put the card together I realised I should've inked the edges of the image a bit, but it was too late, and now it has to stay this way. I also look at it now and think maybe the shoes should've been red too. Oh well maybe next time....I used this week's Bella sketch for the card, and I have to admit, it made my life SO much easier. I have struggled so with sketches in the past, but this time it was a huge blessing cause I didn't have much time to finish it and not having to figure out a layout was a big help.
Tonight it is 3 below freezing here. Do I need to remind you all how cold I am, probably not. I HATE winter. I can't wait for summer to return... sorry those of you in the northern hemisphere.
Oh just quickly, I met two new South African Crafters in the past week. The one lady, Paola, even has a scrapbooking shop and I had never heard of it, I thought I had sussed them all out, lol!!! I went there today, spent money what else.... don't tell. The other lady, Rene, lives a bit far away so I have not met her in person, but they each have a blog, so if you interested go check them out.
Paola's blog, which she only setup last night, is here; and Rene's blog you can find here.
Now I am off to bed, it's late, it's freezing and I need lots of beauty sleep.

Brave cat
I keep wanting to go rescue a kitten from the shelter, but I am worried what Simby and Misty, my two Jack Russells would do with it. They try and hunt anything that moves, and the other problem I have when the cat is big, Pepi and Roxy, my two parrots might not be too pleased with the new family member.
In the meantime I'll stick to colouring images of cats for people who love animals, just like me. This card is for a lady who loves animals, and as tempting as it was to put even more images on, I guess it would've made for a very busy card.
These are two Elzybells images which I love colouring. I find it so easy to work with Elzy images, I don't know why. Their bears are my utmost favourite though, and I wish I have had more time to have used some of the others I have.
I coloured these with my Lyra pencils for a change, and the cat was really supposed to come out some very different, but I just couldn't get the effect I wanted. I am no artist, so I have to rely on whatever comes out once my pencils hit the paper, lol.
I cut the images with my nesties and mounted the dog on 3D foam pads. Isn't he sweet with his little friend on his nose. The borders where done with a fiskars border punch and I felt it was a bit too much once I put the card together, but it was late and I wanted some sleep so I left it as is.
Well that's all there is to tell about this card. I am going to continue working on my mother's birthday cards while watching Desperate Housewives and then CSI - New York.
Oh and I have to share, our days are getting longer. When I drove home tonight it was still light until about 6pm. Usually by 5:30pm it is dark. I was so happy to see that winter is getting it's little boots on and getting out of here slowly!

More Father's Day
This card is for a friend's dad. My dad isn't lucky enough to get a card... hehehe. Not because I don't want to, it's a bit like the panel beater with the beaten up car. Know what I mean.
I coloured Mr Bear with my Lyra pencils and blended it with Sansador and paper stumps of course. I have two type of paper stumps, the one set is a lot softer than the other and they are so much nicer. I am not expert in stumps and don't even know what make these are as they all came in clear unlabelled packets, but certainly the softer the better - for me at least. While I'm on the colouring subject, the paper I used here was a sample I ordered from Elzybells, they stock paper for colouring now too. I cannot tell you how amazing this paper is for colouring with pencils. I was in heaven while colouring this ;-)
Don't you just love that little sentiment. It is also from Elzybells and inside I stamped Take It Easy, perfect with Mr Bear here. Another sentiment from them.
Now for the best news today, my Bella order arrived. Okay, the second one, they had to reship :-((( But I am so happy I got it! I am definitely stamping out some of those images tonight and am hoping to participate in the challenge for next week. I've not had a chance to do that for a few weeks now.
Here comes the moaning part of this post.... IT IS FREEZING HERE!!!! Okay admitted it was a little warmer today than the past week. We had constant rain, and that is so unusual for Johannesburg winters. Today was lovely and sunny, but still cold. I HATE winter, just a reminder in case anyone has forgotten or didn't know - LOL!
Righto, I'm off to go and feed my babies, I'm probably going to have to play ball first. Then some colouring. My mom is back from holiday today and she's babysitting my nieces tonight - I'm so glad she's back or it would've had to be me :-)Saturday, May 9, 2009
Final Mother's Day card
This one is for my sister to give to my mom. Only last night did it come to my attention that I had to make it. Luckily I had this little Gorjuss girl all coloured up and after shopping today I quickly, okay my quickly (which is pretty slow), put this card together. Hopefully my sister likes it.
I coloured this image with my Lyras, it's one of only a few remaining images I coloured during my 'production mode' phase, without chosing paper. The mat was cut with the nestie oval and then put through my cuttlebug. Not much more to say about this card, oh the paper I bought this morning - hehehe, nothing like using the new stuff immediately.
Now I'm off to go and get ready for the choir performance. Have a fabulous evening.

My very first sketch
This little image was one of the many I coloured without having paper in mind. Fortunately it did not take me too long to find something to match these two cuties.
I coloured the image with my lyras and blended it with Sansador. All the cut outs where done with nesties, aren't they just the best thing since sliced bread.
I think the image is meant for Easter, but this is way tooooooo late for that, and besides, who says you can only kiss a bunny at Easter. If I had a bunny I would kiss it everyday, just like I do my dogs ;-)
I added a flower to the card, but removed it again. I think it looks better without it. Although I still think something is missing.... oh well, this is how it will stay now. I have spent a long time with this card and am now moving on to some colouring.
Winter is really upon us today. It is not pleasant at all, and I have been trying to keep active to not freeze to death. Interesting how making cards instead of sitting on the couch can actually keep a person's blood flowing.
Have a great week ahead. Hopefully I'll find some time to make some new creations.

Michelle is 9
She requested a green and blue card. I have no idea why, and I also have NO idea who chooses to mix green and blue, other than my nine year old niece. This was as close to green and blue as I could manage. I have another project I've sort of put together which is a LOT more green and blue, but I will ask my mother tomorrow if I pass with this card :-)
This is one of the Sugar Nellie stamps I ordered from Funky Kits. I just had to have Rory the lion, cause lions are from Africa you know. I coloured him with my lyras and blended with Sansador. He was also coloured before choosing the paper, but it was luckily not too hard to find something to match him, especially seeing he's going to a girl. I put some liquid crystal on the water drops just to make it look a bit more real and mounted the image on 3D dots.
I did not put a '9' on the card. Is that bad, should I have.... I couldn't decide and felt it would just have made the card too busy, guess I'll ask my mother that too tomorrow.
I went looking for the lizard today, but couldn't see him. I saw lots of others, climbing up my walls to get a bit of sun, but not the poor 'slow' one which I freed yesterday. I just hope he is not in pain, that is my worst fear. The poor thing didn't make a sound, do lizards make sounds. I guess not. Pity, how do we tell if they are in pain....!?
I've impressed myself today, two cards in one day.... I'm getting faster whoooohoooo!
Oh, we have mother's day next Sunday, I think it's the same as the Americans. So my card is still on time Mar, thanks for checking.
Till tomorrow - I hope.

A quick boy card
This little Sugar Nellie was coloured with my lyras and blended with sansador. I again had to try find paper to match my colouring... so not a fun thing to do. I have a lot of paper, but somehow it is still so difficult to match an image once it's coloured.
I cut the image out and mounted it on 3D dots. I wasn't intending on doing that to start off with, but when I put it in my nestabilities die, I did not notice that the image was skew so the poor thing looked like he was leaning on his truck.
That's about it, a short and sweet post, just like the short and sweet card.
Paula, no we don't swim in winter time - I struggle to find a day that is hot enough to swim in summer time... and usually only do if I've been doing DIY or been inside the roof for some or other reason. The water level for the pool was low, so I have to fill it or the pump starts sucking air. Definitely not that adventurous.
Debbi, thanks for the laugh about the pond and hot tub. I wouldn't mind exchanging that hot tub for the swimming pool right now!
Back to work tomorrow so only limited time for crafting and blogging and checking what all of you have been up to.
Another Magnolia
I coloured this magnolia just for fun and again did not chose paper before hand. It was a bit of a struggle to find something that matches and I have more images which are coloured without paper in mind, so the battle will continue a little while longer.
No sentiment on this card, cause it doesn't really have a 'home', it's just something I coloured and have now decided to make into a card. My mother complained and said I must make something with brighter colours, that she's tired of she's all the autumn colours I'm using all the time. Does she not realise that it IS autumn, and it does get me down :-))
This card was also coloured with my Lyras and blended with Sansador. Please excuse my yellow hair, but I could not get it close to blonde. Hopefully next time.
The image is mounted on 3D dots and on nestibilities cut outs. I really do love the nestabilities dies, I cannot imagine making a card now without them.
That's it for now. I must run downstairs and turn the water off, I'm filling the pool and have for the last 3 times forgotten about it! Such a stupid thing to do and I hate wasting water.
Cya all soon!
