Month-end Milestone!

To begin with my lilies, as of last night. Every night that i have stitched, i have stitched over 100 stitches - i think this is the first month this has been possible!! There were 3 no-stitching nights though. This page has been the easiest to stitch so far. I am still 8/20, so a long way to go. I am happy, however, that i will soon reach the halfway mark. Soon being in another 4 months, am i allowed to say soon then??!!

I have finished completed my Quakerchen. Now, i hope to finish this soon. I am still not able to select the tulip colors, so we are where we are!!

Finally the BOINK. Lovely, lovely BOINK. I have a bit of this last block - the original asked for red, dark blue and orange, i have gone with violet, dark blue and light blue; and after that is done all that remains is the frame!! Let us see how much i will be able to do this month. This month i will be focusing on having the bookmark completed first - i now have all the material i need, so selecting the chart, and floss; and stitching is all that remains:))

Have been having a VERY busy time at office, so blogtrotting has become lesser and lesser... Thanks to all you visitors, for leaving your comments. I appreciate every one of them, thank you!!

Next part...

Here are the SALs i am into at the moment. Part 2 of Solo Brode SAL. This is taking a round shape, isnt it!! I love the back stitching in this. I wonder when the next part comes. Time between the first two parts was 10 days i think... Whenever it comes, i am ready to lap it up, LOL. Now, there is some miscounting that has happened, i have left it as is for the time being

Here's Quakerchen part 5. I was hoping the final part would come Friday, so i could have the page printed and ready for the weekend; it so happened this time it came on Sunday, which means i stitch tonight on this wonderful little Quaker, my German Quakerchen. Now, i have got to change the color of the tulip so that it blends well, let us see what i come up with!

I did some Boink as well last night, but not enough to show. And with Lilies i am about 43% completed on the current page. My Mother is going to send me some of the parcels i recieved. (blinking??!! My shipping address for all the precious stuff i receive from abroad is my Mother's place, so she sends them 'over' from time to time) I do plan to visit her sometime next month, so she will send to me the ones i need for the bookmark exchange. Talking of precious, when it comes to 'me' things, i love my stash more than say jewelry (definitely), and clothes (come a close second) and footwear (comes a close third!!). Books and stash are giving a neck to neck competition, so to speak.

The Anne Tyler book i am reading currently is going on fine, it is a bit too sad to read, but then bittersweet is how family life is, right? I am also tuning myself to what to read next...

Thanks all for your wonderful comments! Thanks for liking my work, it feels good and wonderful!! Have a great week, every one!

Mid-month Milestone, and a new SAL!!

Here is how lilies look. I am almost one third done with this page. This time i went with the flow and did confetti stitches as well. Since there are lesser confetti stitches in this page, i decided to not keep them for the very last. What you see is the output of 14 stitchy nights!

I did not stitch on the night of 15th May, no not due to fatigue but because i wanted to work on a new SAL called 'Waiting for Summer'. I absolutely love this SAL - it has taken my breath away!!. It is a French SAL organised by Sophie.

The colors that came to me, were Navy Blue and Dark Gray. I first took a darker shade of grey - Anchor 401 Ash Grey, and then opted for something lighter - Anchor 400 Pewter Gray. Sophie had asked us to take contrasting colors. Now by the very definition probably these colors i have chosen are not VERY contrasting. They seem to be a pair though, as though they belong, and create a subtle togetherness. So i plunged in and here is my first part of this beauty!!

Also some BOINK - this has been treated very roughly by me, as in being totally ignored. I could stitch some wihch is better than none. Here is how - I have been too tired of late, so even i slept during my son's nap time on Sunday. When i woke up (i could easily have gone back to sleep), i realised i had pulled some of my stitching time to sleep, so i shook myself, and took up BOINK, anf finished the green in the middle block (about half of which was already done), and barely started the blue.

Finally Quaker - sorry bad color combination??? i am going to change the tulip color, as it just does not go with the red. I am surprised with myself for having chosen that color. But then isnt that what trial and error is all about!! I have two more parts, and i complete yet another project this year. I am hapy i have joined the Marquoir yahoo group, they have a LOT of projects ongoing, and these projects all WONDERFUL!! I can dare only to take up their smaller projects - they do make my stitching journey enjoyable.

Books, hmmm, i think it took me a month's time almost to read Les Miserables. It is not easygoing reading about war and revolution and poverty and strife... I have now shifted gears, and am reading Anne Tyler's Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant. Well, family fiction, any time.

Wishing you all a great week ahead. Hope you like these pics i have put in my blog today. Thanks to all of you visit me and leave me a comment. I enjoy reading them!

Quaker time

Here is where i have come to in the Quaker SAL currently ongoing in the Marquoir yahoo group. I had picked my own colors, and while i am happy with the red, the mauve does not stand out yet, LOL.
I also have a light violet as a third colour yet to figure, i hope after that it looks better!

Here are the rest of the books i bought in the end of April, currently sitting inside my closet. I still seem to be stuck with Les Miserables - not so much reading time these days. But then my hands are just the right amount of busy right now between work and life and me, so i am not upset about it.

By the way, if you look at the book out there in the bottom of the pile, Mother by Pearl S Buck, this book needs some resurrection as far as i can see. Will tend to that tonight

My first!!

I have won Meari's giveway!!! Meari was hosting a giveaway for having reached a milestone of 145 followers. And I WON it!! And yes, this is the very first giveaway i won in blogland - so it makes this win all the more special. Thank you so very much Meari.

What wonderful charts, and fabric, and scissors and fob and skeins.... Meari, can't wait to see and hold them. Many many thanks dear!! If you have many more hits, that is because I have gone umpteen number of times to your blog, LOL

I have no pics this time, although i have done quite a bit of Part 1 of the Quaker SAL going on in the Marquoir yahoo group.

I also have received the second set of books, and shamelessly admit there is no 'shelf' space for them yet. There are three bookracks in my house, and two are full to capacity with every possible nook giving room for a book or two; as for the third the last three shelves are empty because my son has easy access to them;-) Currently he 'loves' my books more than his books, you see. My book is his book, my clip is his clip, my sandals are his sandals. Whatever is mine, is more HIS!!! Sweety pie. So I *have* to find a way out to keep them safe from his eager hands.

May, so soon?

Here are pics i promised (myself) by end of April. I just could not get the 'miracle' time and we are now in May! I cannot believe we have completed four months of 2010.

I have only used black, red, green and orange like i did in the diagonal block. When i first started the BOINK, i did not have the blue skeins with me yet as i was still deciding on the colors. So when the first block was completed, it looked complete to me even without the 'charted' blue. I carried the same non-blue theme for the diagonal block as well. I happen to like the outcome!

I also completed the red block in the centre with a different design than was given by Tracy. I 'copied' the design from another BOINK block, this design was after me. Each time i visualised BOINK, this design crept in my mind and said 'TRY ME'. I gave in:)

I had also said i have a small Quaker project to start. I have barely started it, and i am thinking for the  weekend project, i will focus on that in May, instead of BOINk, as otherwise it will not be an SAL! And the bookmark.

Some books i got recently via mail order... Some more expected to come this week.

As you can see, i have gotten into Barbara Delinsky mode, LOL.
