I'm afraid that I made the mistake of not telling the nursery leaders at church about Sweetheart's egg allergy and her suspected peanut allergy. Today she got a bit of a double whammy because as part of the treat they brought chocolate chip cookies with eggs in them. They also had a bag of peanut butter pretzels, but they are not sure if she got some or not. In any case, whatever she got made it quite difficult for her to breathe, prompting a visit to the emergency room. There was a lot of excitement at first with people rushing around and poking her a lot. After giving her a ton of drugs they put the cutest dinosaur-shaped mask on her face for a breathing treatment. And I made Marquis take pictures.
Poor cute little thing! She actually liked the breathing treatment, I think because it helped her feel better so fast. The poking and prodding and being attached to the IV/oxygen monitor/blood pressure cuff she absolutely hated!
Once they took off everything except the little catheter thingy for the IV she was much happier, and really just played and colored and read books the rest of the time we had to stay for observation.
The bad news is that now we get to go do full blown allergy testing. The good news is that now we have a couple of Epi-pens just in case it ever happens again. Makes me feel a lot better just to have them around!
