Hey Everyone! I am here to share a little tutorial on how to create a pinwheel for cards or other papercrafting projects. Making a pinwheel does not take a long time at all, and it adds dimension and fun to any project. You can make these pinwheels out of patterned paper or a light cardstock. You do not want to use a thick cardstock because the cardstock will crack. For my pinwheel, I decided to use a pink Bazzill cardstock.
Here is the supply list of what I used to create this card:
Market Street Stamps- Sweet Lace
Market Street Stamps- Enjoy Today
Bazzill- Chablis cardstock
Papertrey Ink- Raspberry Fizz cardstock
Papertrey Ink- Harvest Gold cardstock
Colorbox Chalk Ink- Orchid Pastel
Versa Magic- Key Lime
Versa Mark- Watermark Stamp Pad
Memento- Lilac Posies
Making Memories- Garden Party Velvet Brads
This is the template to make the pinwheel. I find it easier to make a template and cut it with a ruler! Please note the white dots are where you punch your holes, if you don't have a tiny hole punch you can also use a piercing tool.
I inked my Bazzill cardstock with the Orchid Pastel and Key Lime inks. I found this to be an interesting technique, because the inks seemed to absorbed into the paper causing it to be more flexible. I then stamped the Sweet Lace background stamp on both sides of the cardstock with the Lilac Posies ink.
Now it's time to make the pinwheel. You want to bend your points (with the holes) to the center hole of the pinwheel. I use a little glue to adhere the points in the center, because its a lot easier to put the brad through the holes.
This is what your pinwheel shape should look like! You can now create your card and attach your pinwheel to it. The card is a standard A2 size (4.25"x5.5").
To make the card follow these steps:
-Stamp the Sweet Lace Background stamp onto the Harvest Gold cardstock with Versa Mark ink. -You then want to sprinkle your clear embossing powder on the stamp image, tap off access, and use your heat gun to melt the powder to your card.
- Mount your Harvest Gold cardstock to the Rasberry Fizz cardstock leaving a 1/8" border.
-Attach a piece of decorative ribbon horizontally on your card.
-Then mount your papers to the Chablis cardstock leaving the 1/8" border, then finally mount all the layers to your A2 card you created from the Harvest Gold cardstock.
- Now you can attach your thin roping materiel (or anything else you want to use for the stick) to the card. Then add the pinwheel to your card.
-The final step is to stamp the Enjoy Today sentiment with the Lilac Posies onto the Harvest Gold cardstock, and mount the piece to the Chablis cardstock leaving a thin border.
