I added an inner border to squared away. We changed locations, so, I wasn't sure I would get the border finished. but I did.

more dresden rings
I have had a chance to make more dresden rings. I tend to sew a bunch of blades, turn and press them and then sew the rings. After I make a couple, I run out of variety and repeat. I need 5 more to reach my goal.

tiny tuesday border
This is the border I plan to add to my tiny Tuesday quilt. Maybe, I can use up a few more 2 1/2 strips. It is simple and quick to sew, and I will have a few bonus triangles as a bonus.

tiny Tuesday rows
Before we left Indiana, I had joined a few rows for tiny Tuesday. I didn't bring it with me, but I figured out the border I want to make for it. So I have something back home that I can look forward to doing. Although, I am bringing uncompleted projects, too.
The blocks were designed by the academic quilter

dresden wedges and rings
I dug into my 1 1/2 inch strip bin for pink. This year I am sewing the color with a light, in strips. I cut them at 2 1/2 inches and have a zig zag idea in my head. I am planning to use 3 strips each month and see how far that gets me at years end. I was hoping to make 36 segments and I made 59.

squared away flimsy
squared away top is ready for borders. I did bring my ideas for border fabrics with me on vacation, I might have them done yet this month. I have made a few dresden plates blades as leader/ enders. It has been cold here, and, yesterday, it rained all day. Still an adventure.

peppermint candy quilt
I made just a little start on peppermint candy quilt. I have used these pieces as leader//enders as I work on squared away and dresden plates. It's extra fun when the points of the pinwheels turn out well- haha I really haven't sewn much since we have arrivesd at our son's house. He has some wonderful Florida things to do. Such an adventure.

dresden and zippers
Pink is the color for January 2025 and the rainbow scrap challenge.
I had a chance to cut the wedges before moving on with other rsc projects
I reopened the zipper ufo box and pulled all the blocks with pink. I want to add different color blocks to them as we move through the year. I made the zipper blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge in 2022.

squared away progress
We are busy exploring our new snow-less location for vacation. I have had occasion to sew a bit. Florence the featherweight has been a trooper. I threw out the blocks for squared away to get an idea and play with colors. It was easy to piece the first two rows in an on point layout. If I am not too tuckered out in the evenings, I will try to sew a row together. I don't miss the dreary back home.

dresden plate and pink
Pink is the color for January 2025 and the rainbow scrap challenge.
I began this dresden plate quilt in 1987 after my daughter was born. After 2 boys, I wanted to see pink again. It was set aside for many years until a redo in 2020. I brought it out to work on it during the rainbow scrap challenge as a leader/ ender, and, I made a few rings that year. This year, I am once again adding it to the rainbow scrap challenge during the pink month. When I opened the box I found 12 rings together. I had decided that I had all the rings made in 2020. This time, I decided I would want to make 20 blocks.
I cut this year's windmill blocks. using a light gray background.

all rows for tiny tuesday
After, all the rows were made, last week, I laid out the tiny Tuesday rows to decide the layout. So cute. It may not need a border, although I like a bigger quilt. The seams in the rows will be easy to match and assemble. I am slowly making progress.
I am off on an adventure and my Nelly nolting longarm will take a rest from last year and be ready when I am back home. She deserves it.

last rows tiny tuesday
The last two rows of tiny Tuesday sampler are finished and I can begin to assemble the top. This quilt makes me smile as I look at the different blocks and happy colors. I was able to finish this at Friday quilt group. I have missed several weeks due to illness and it was great to visit with my quilting friends again. However, the library carpet is really ugly. I am already thinking about the borders.

peppermint candy restart
Number 2 on my 5 quilt list for 2025, is peppermint candy. I found this in quiltmaker magazine and cut it out, in 2018, while I was cleaning up Christmas fabrics. That is all the farther I got, before it landed in the ufo closet. I hope to start working on it in January, while there is snow and memories of the holidays. The plan is to finish it and not let it return to the ufo closet. Luckily, I really like red and white quilts.

squared away challenge
My one monthly goal for January 2025 is to assemble my squared away quilt. I made these blocks in 2018 as part of the rainbow scrap challenge. I thought I would start 2025 fresh with a rainbow scrap quilt. I have the blocks made and I want an on point layout. I will travel this month, and think this would make a great motel project with Florence, my featherweight. Everything I need for the quilt fits in a zip lock bag. I will still use my 5 quilt goal plan for the year. It makes sense to me and appears to work for me. Although, I might be a little less concerned with the time I take on each project. I have randomly chosen 29 ufos that I can pick and choose. Last year I finished 41. I never dreamed I could do that. So, we will see. Life can be challenging at my age.
pink is the color for January |
I am still trying to finish an older ufo from the rainbow scrap challenge called tiny Tuesday. I have the green row done. Most of the blocks were designed by the academic quilter but I have been adding orphan blocks to make it a bit bigger.

tiny tuesday orange row
I am still working on my tiny Tuesday sampler from 2019. I started this as a quilt along with the Rainbow scrap challenge group. As I move along, I fall in love with it again. I have also added some orphan blocks to fill out the rows by color. The blocks were designed by the academic quilter

yellow tiny tuesday row
I was short 2 blocks for the yellow row for my tiny Tuesday sampler. This an older Rainbow scrap challenge sampler from 2019. I attended a guild open sew Saturday for a couple of hours, and, I was able to finish the row. Yellow is my favorite color in general, but not always in quilting. I do think it is a bit of sunshine in a scrappy quilt. I have 3 rows done, and 4 or 5 to go before assembly. If I could just focus a little better, I could get it done. Sewing has stalled on my midnight flight ufo, since, it looks like I don't have enough border pieces.

red tiny tuesday sampler
I had one block to finish for the red row for my tiny Tuesday sampler. I started this in 2019 as part of the rainbow scrap challenge. I had a few blocks that were not finished. I pulled this older ufo out of the closet as part of my 5 quilt project. Here is the pink row.

baby 30s finish
I worked on this quilt as part of the rainbow scrap challenge this year. It was a fun and easy addition to the year. Baby 30s was also a part of my 5 quilt ufo project. I was able to make the blocks and sashings and finish it in one year. I know I could have finished it much quicker, but, carrying it out the whole year made it very relaxing. Before, it went into the ufo closet in 2021, it was all cut out and ready to start. That is one of the blessings of working on older ufos. I usually don't call them an ufo unless they are at least that far along in the process. This quilt played hide and seek with me last year, but I found it.

charming stars
As I get closer to the end of the year, I am not sure how I will finish my 5 quilt ufo project. I have one quilt I think I can still finish. I have 4 others that are in progress. I want to start with new- in the new year, but, with so many projects in progress, I feel the need to carry them over into the new year.
If I remember right, I found all these 6 inch squares in a scrap bag someone had given me in 2020.
I have 16 squares made, and it has bubbled up to the 5 quilt project this month. I just cracked open the ufo project case.

country roads finish
My last official quilt in the 'to be quilted closet' is finished. hooray. Country roads is a free pattern that I started as part of the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I made the blocks in each month's color. in 2020. The top was made, ready to quilt, in 2021. This year as part of the 5 quilt project goals, I was determined to quilt my closet quilts. Each month I chose 2 specific ready to quilt, quilts to finish before any other ufo goals, and it has made a big difference in emptying the closet. I had no idea I could get so many done in one year. Now, whatsoever will I do with my quilting time 😉 The blocks were made with 1 1/2 inch scraps and the setting squares, and borders, back and binding were all from my stash as well. As a reward, I bought some fabric - you bet
