Papertrey Color Favorites

Are you all enjoying the Papertrey anniversary festivities?! How exciting is the new Fillable Frames Collection by Heather Nicholes & Color Couture by Dawn McVey?! All the possibilities and just think the actual countdown begins tomorrow!!!

In honor of Heather's and Dawn's new collections, Nicole had asked the Papertrey design team to create a 4' X 6' card front (using our favorite color combos), which she will frame and then give to the winner of today's color challenge.

The color combo pictured above has become a new favorite of mine. The first time I ever used the combo was only a month ago on this card. I love to add the bold colors of Raspberry Fizz and Enchanted Evening in small amounts so that they pop off of the more neutral colors of Kraft, Dark Chocolate and White. Making sure to place or use the bold colors in a way that helps direct your eye across the card.
I created a fun little stamped polka dot tree using the tree image from Beyond Basic Borders and polka dots from Polka Dot Basics. Glittered a Raspberry Fizz cardstock strip, attached it to a Kraft base under the tree image panel. Another new favorite of mine is to, wrap twill ribbon around twice before tying it into a bow. This is a great way to utilize the thinner twill ribbon when a wider ribbon is needed (but you may not have).
Stamped one of my favorite sentiments, from Signature Greetings. Then added a few touches of glitter, to the ends of the tree branches, to finish off the card.

I hope you get a chance to give this color combo a try, it really is a fun one! Thanks for stopping by!

Welcome, Little One

Have you seen the latest Stamp It! Cards magazine by Paper Crafts? This issue is loaded with inspiration and talent! This is my first time ever being published in a Paper Crafts magazine, so I was super excited to finally see the issue for the first time at the CHA Super Show. Here is one of my cards that you can find inside...
The focus of the card is this hand stitched birds nest, with button eggs nestled inside. The vine image (from Beyond Basic Borders) was stamped in vintage cream ink onto a dark chocolate cardstock strip. The nest was attached over looped spring rain twill ribbon and then mounted over a vintage cream card base.

So hurry up and purchase your issue of Stamp It! Cards magazine, you'll be glad you did!

Butterfly Wishes

Happy Tuesday to you all!

One of my favorite things to do with the butterfly image from With Sympathy is to stamp it onto small punched circles. As done before on this and this card. I love how they can be rotated to flutter by in all directions and then be embellished with glitter, rhinestones or what ever. This time they were stamped in summer sunrise and berry sorbet onto punched kraft cardstock circles, adhered to the left side of a polka dot stamped block, and then embellished with rhinestones. Rounded the corners (another one of my favorite things to do) of the polka dot block to coordinate with the butterfly circles.

Finished the card off with a sentiment (a rhinestone dot for the I) then wrapped with white embroidery floss.

Things are starting to go back to normal again around here, my Mother-in-law left for home today (so sorry to see her go). Well that's all from me today. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Thanks to You!

Hello all! I hope you had a wonderful holiday and didn't eat too much (like I did, hehe). I find it hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone, and that now we are preparing for a brand new year!

Today I have a super simple card to share with you...The kraft cardstock block was stamped with a tree (from Beyond Basic Borders), over the tree branches are cream polka dots (from Polka Dot Basics) and a green scalloped border at the base (from Beyond Basic Borders).
Attached a strip of ocean tides cardstock behind the tree image block. Another rounded strip over the top, then embellished with a button and stamped sentiment.
I would like to take a moment and thank you all for the warm Christmas wishes I received from you over the holiday, and for taking the time to visit me here at my little old blog. You all have been a blessing to me and have been great inspiration and motivation for me to keep creating. Thanks for all the wonderful comments you leave me, I love to hear from you all and every one of them puts a smile on my face. Looking forward to spending another year with you!

Another Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #20 Card

Did I say what a fabulous color combo this is! Thanks Dawn for another great one! No really, I really like it. So much so, that I tried it again... Trying something new here, covering the aqua panel with aqua buttons for something different and for a lot of fun texture. What do you think?

Above the buttons is a vine image, from Beyond Basic Borders, stamped in Aqua Mist. Over that is the sentiment, from Damask Design, in dark chocolate. Finished off with more of that lush rust colored satin ribbon.

So, I think that will be it from me today. I think I've really have missed this blogging business, two posts in one day! Hope you have a wonderful rest of the day and thanks for stopping by.

Butterflies, Woodgrain and Glittery Goodness

Hello and happy Monday! Just quickly stopping in to share a little glittery goodness with you guys... These cute butterflies are from the With Sympathy set, stamped onto punched circles. Then, with dimensional adhesive, layered over some raspberry fizz woodgrain stamped over light pink cardstock.
Wrapped raspberry fizz twill ribbon around a scalloped edge, stamped the sentiment, then added a touch of glitter glue.

Hope you have a great start to your week! Thanks for visiting!

Embellish Owl Color Challenge

Hey everyone! I finally had a chance to make a card for the latest Owl Color Challenge over at Embellish. Aren't those colors so yummy together! This has to be one of my favorite color combos. Great job to Ashley for putting these beautiful and inspiring photos together. I chose to go with PTI colors: Melon Berry, Dark Chocolate, Spring Moss and Vintage Cream. Here is what I came up with...
I don't own any owl stamps and my printer has gone wacky on me, so I couldn't even print the image that was provided by Savitri Wilder. So I though it would be fun to draw one by hand and paper piece the colors of the challenge into my own friendly little owl...
I drew an owl shape onto brown cardstock and cut him out. Gave him a ruffly belly by layering scalloped strips, cut with decorative scissors. Punched two different sized circles for his eyes and cut his nose by hand. To coordinate with my little friend I continued the ruffled belly idea onto the bottom of the card.

Next he needed something to perch onto, so I created a branch using a sentiment and tree image from Beyond Basic Borders. Stamped the sentiment in brown, to create the branch, and then inked the top of the tree image in green to create some foliage.

What a fun challenge this was! Anyways, thanks for stopping in for a visit today, hope you liked the card.

CAS37 With Sympathy

Hello there! This weeks CAS Challenge is to create a Sympathy Card. Since this is a skinny card it works perfectly for the Caardvarks A Tall Order challenge too. Here is what I came up with... I've had this bloom assembled for a few weeks now, just sitting on my desk patiently waiting for me to use it. The bloom image is from PTI In Bloom stamp set. It was stamped onto Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides & Spring Moss cardstock in Versamark, then heat embossed with black embossing powder. Cut out and then layered together. The bottom of the card was samped with Background Basics: Text Style in black.
Thanks for your kind comments on my French Knot tutorial I posted yesterday, I am very glad that some of you found it helpful. Just remember if you ever give it a try leave me a link, I would love to see what you create!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Fun With Felt

Happy Wednesday to you all! I have a fun polka dot felt card to share with you today... The polka dots were made using bright pink felt. To create these fun polka dots...first you need to punch circle from cardstock, in the desired sizes, to make templates. Next cut circles from the felt, when cutting the circles I found it easiest to place the template onto the felt then cut around it. Randomly place the felt polka dots onto the cardstock, of your desired size, using extra tacky double sided adhesive tape. Then trim the edges.
For the button and floss detail... all I did was thread the buttons, wrapped the floss around the cardstock a few times, then tied the ends together on the back side. Anyways, just thought I would share a little info with you. Hope you found it helpful!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you enjoyed your visit!

Stitched Trio

Hello my friends! I hope you all had a great weekend!

My cards for today were inspired by the Loonie Stampers Challenge #59. This week Dee chose the challenge, to create a single layer card...This sure was a fun challenge, I couldn't stop at just one card. Playing again with embroidery floss, I stitched French Knots onto images from Beyond Basic Borders. Here is a shot of each card...
Well, that's all from me today. I hope you all have a great start to your week! Thanks for stopping by today.

Thining Of You

Hello my friends! Sorry to have left you hanging yesterday. I had an extremely busy day and before I knew it, it was over.

So onto the card...I stamped my favorite tiny polka dots from Polka Dot Basic II and a vine from Beyond Basic Borders, in Ocean Tides ink, onto my 5" X 5" kraft card base. Straight stitched twine across an Upper Crest border and a torn edge. Here are a few tips I found helpful when stitching with hemp twine... It helps to use the thinnest twine you have or can find (like jewelry twine). Pierce your holes but make them a little larger so the twine will fit through (it help to rotate the piercing tool when inserted into the hole). Then thread the twine by hand, it's usually stiff enough to do so, but make sure to keep the end clean (cut off the end if it becomes frayed). So if you give this a try I hope you find this info helpful.
Next I layered on the flower, which was created using my Blossom Nestabilites, then rounded the corners.

I'm sure you all are ready for the weekend, got any big plans? We have two more birthday parties to go to, this has been a very busy birthday month for us but its been fun. My hubby is home today so I better get going and spend some quality time with him and our little man. Hope you have a fun weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

August PTI Blog Hop

This months PTI Blog Hop challenge is to create a project inspired by Autumn. Here is what I came up with...

This is my favorite time of the year, what's not to love about this season! There is so much to be inspired by... the changing of the leaves, warm fuzzy sweaters, roaring fires, rich colors and so on. My choice for adding texture was embroidery floss (no surprise there since I've been using it like crazy) and a torn and distressed edge. I stamped my Beautiful Blooms leaf image in brown then added little berries by tying french knots with red embroidery floss.

Wrapped more embroidery floss under the punched apron lace border and finished the card off with a sentiment and another cute little berry.
I find it hard to believe that fall is just around the corner, but it can't get here soon enough! So what is your favorite season of the year? I'd love to know!
Oh, and another note... I have been blogging for just over a month now and I'm loving it! I have been blessed to meet and become friends with many incredible and talented people through this outlet. Thanks to each and everyone of you who take the time to visit me!

Well thanks for hopping by! Hope you enjoyed!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #15

Another fabulous Raspberry Suite Color Challenge by Dawn McVey! Here is what I came up with...
The card base is made from cream cardstock, even though it looks white. The butterflies were punched from melon and pink cardstock then crinkled, for a bit of a distressed look, to match the torn edge of the pink cardstock below. Then embellished with spring moss buttons. The vine border was inked in spring moss and the apron lace border was punched from melon cardstock. Finished the card of with a touch of cream twine and a sentiment.

That girl always amazes me with her creative color combos!
Aren't you amazed...No stitching or knots! :D Except for the buttons of course, but that doesn't count. Anyways, I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Thanks for visiting me today, hope you enjoyed the card! Bye, bye!

With A Twist

Happy Friday!!! Yeah! Hope you all are ready for the weekend. Thank you all for your supportive comments about my masculine card from yesterday.

So, over at the Splitcoaststampers Forum a search for the new Autumn 2009 CAS Design Team is underway. I've been having fun keeping up with the weekly challenges lately so I figured... what the heck, I could give that a try. So here is my first submission...
There are 3 different challenges to participate in: Sketch, Color & Theme. Today's card is what I came up with for the Color Challenge: Monochromatic With A Twist. The rules are to use different shades of brown and just a tad bit of red. I only have one shade of brown and kraft cardstock, so I hope that kraft counts as a shade of brown too.

For the "tad bit" of red I used embroidery floss and tied french knots to make my flowers. I also used the floss to wrap and tie around the bottom of the image panel.
Well, thanks for stopping in and visiting with me today. I hope you enjoyed the card and hope you have a great weekend!

Life's Simple Pleasures

Hello my friends! So I've finally taken a step back from my In Bloom set. :) Today I bring you this cheery little card...I use the Beyond Basic Borders tree again. This time I gave it some foliage! I punched a circle from spring moss cardstock and stamped text in Ripe Avocado (did this along the side of the card as well). Topped it off with a flowery button.

I'm really enjoying adding buttons to my ribbon accents, it's a fun switch from the usual knot or bow. I love how simple this card is but at the same time it's loaded with lots of texture and interest. The torn cardstock strip adds a bit of texture, I just tore it by hand and curled the ends up a bit. It was super easy! The ribbon and the buttons all have their own great texture and shine to them. Extending the tree top and sentiment over the edges adds a touch of interest, as does the stamped text background. Oh, and of course the rounded corners (gotta love that corner rounder... lol).

So what are some of your favorite ways to add texture and interest to your creations?

I hope this was a nice change from all those In Bloom cards. :) Glad you stopped in for a visit, now you all have a wonderful day!

Flourishes In Bloom

Happy Monday to you! Hope the weekend didn't go by too fast.

So today I have yet another In Bloom card to share with you. This time I paired it with some flourishes. I layered the bloom again, but this time I used raspberry ink on kraft cardstock (Mmmmmmm, love the look). So this is how it turned out...
I used my apron lace border punch on kraft cardstock, then stamped text using raspberry ink onto the punched border. A small and a large flourish were stamped behind the bloom, its amazing how flourishes just add the right touch to a card. I added a little something special to the center of the bloom...The way I cut and layered the bloom enabled me to tuck a little black button in the center. Just thought it was a unique and cute little detail. It's the details that count right?

So have I exhausted you with this set yet? I hope not, I plan to be using it a lot. It has now become a go-to set for me. Although, I do plan to use a different stamp set on my next post! :)

I hope you liked the card today. So, just like the sentiment on the card... Thank You for stopping by today and for all the wonderful comments you leave me. It's like a little bit of extra sunshine in my day, I love each and every one of them!

Love You Polka Dots

Howdy! Hope you all are doing well today.

Today I wanted to share another card I made using my new PTI Polka Dot Basics II.
Oh man am I loving this set, I just can't seem to put it down! lol :) The sentiment fits the card perfectly since this card is loaded with so many of the things I love. So this seems like the perfect opportunity to share a few with you (as of now anyways, it will probably be different next week. lol). :)

Favorite......

  • Background Stamp: Polka Dot Basics II
  • Image Stamp: Tree from Beyond Basic Borders
  • Neutral Cardstock: Kraft
  • Punch: Tag, Scalloped Edge & Corner Rounder (Love these three equally)
  • Button: Pearlescence Berry Sorbet (silly, I know)
  • Ribbon: Twill

This tag would also look great by itself. Just hang it from a ribbon tied to the handle of a kraft gift bag. I just might have to give that a try!

Now that you know my favs, maybe you guys can share a little of what you love with me, if you would like.

Well thank you for stopping in today!!! Hope I didn't bore you too much talking about my self. lol! Hope you liked the card!
