Pencils....

Hey everyone, hope you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I spent my Labor Day in a pool :) It was pretty much awesome!!!

Exciting News...The brand new Fall Design Team is being announced on the Sweet Stamp Shop blog today!!!! I am also going to be the Design Team Coordinator!!!! YAY.

Come and meet everyone on the team and say HI!!! You can find it all HERE :)

Well it's all about the school season and if you have children, you probably had to go buy a TON of back to school school supplies, like pencils, markers, crayons, ruler, paper, notebooks, etc. AND like always we buy more than enough pencils lol, would hate to not be able to find a pencil right in the midst of trying to do homework, right???  So keeping that in mind,  the other night we went to Barnes and Noble to cool off from this crazy hot weather we have been having here in SoCal and I decided prime oportunity to look through some magazines and get some inspiration. While flipping through the pages (and I am sorry I do not remember which one it was I had about 6 or so of them lol) I saw some "look what you can do with washi" ideas, one of them was covering your PENCILS!!!! (BUT, of course one of my first thoughts was "um why didn't I think of that" lol.) I LOVED it, such a quick and easy thing to do but so much fun at the same time. They would even make great teacher gifts as well.

So I ran with the idea of washi covered pencils and decided to play around and have fun creating my own version and this is what I came up with...

I did three different themes, Back To School (of course), Everyday Fun, and Christmas.

For the Back To School I used the stack of books on the Geek Chic set from Sweet Stamp Shop.
I started at the bottom of my tag and kept layering the books til I got to the top. Then using my watercolor pencils I colored all the books in. I just love how all the colors really just gave it an extra little pop! I finished off with a SRM sticker sentiment from "Life Is Good".

On the Everyday Fun and Christmas one I went a little more simpler. I of course used more SRM stickers and then just tied them off with some fun little ribbons.

Here are the SRM stickers I used
Sticker Sentiment "Happy Holidays" (Dear Santa)
Sticker Sentiment "Life Is Good" (Lovin Life and Seize The Day)

Washi Tape:
MT
MT Kamoi
Michael's Brand

Ribbons:
May Arts
SRM (Twinery Twine)
Other Findings

Thanks so much for stopping by, now go get your craft on!!

Life In Color

We got in some new Coloration sprays from Art Anthology, let's just say, I am IN LOVE. They are sooo vibrant and the colors mix so well together. Since no one at work has tried any of the sprays I wanted to make a sample for the girls and the customers to see what they looked like. Last night I had to run up to my work and I brought my Sister in Law with me, I had her pick out three colors to work with. She choose Glorious (yellow), Watermelon (pinky-red), Juicy (orange).

Look at how vibrant those colors are. I ended up spraying the colors on my craft mat and then pressed the white cardstock onto the spray. I just love how it meshed the colors together. The blending is amazing.
I added some little Heidi Swapp embellishments, Washi Tape, and a SRM sticker sentiment to finish it off.
To add just a hint of sparkle I actually put stickles on the back of the crystal clear buttons. It was just enough to add a little something extra

Cards In A Minute

Have you ever forgotten someone's birthday? I know I have! Or, maybe you have been thinking about someone? Well if you are like me, busy busy, then you probably don't always have the time to just sit down and make something for FUN :)  But last night I decided to take a little break from all my work stuff and make some quick, fun, and super easy cards "in a minute" to have in my stash for those "oops, forgotten birthdays" or the "I love you so much" types of things. They look like like you thought about it but not so involved that you have to give them to just the right person because you don't want them just thrown in the trash.

So here is what I did
A few different washi tapes, ribbon, SRM sticker, and ink splats, and black pen. I just layered and staggered a few different patterns of washi up from the bottom corner. Then added the "Just Because" SRM sticker. Since I used white cardstock I felt it needed a little something for the background, especially since I was using just the bottom corner, so I added some orange spatter marks. Found some yellow ribbon, tied in a knot and adhered down. AND...to finish it off I drew double pen lines around the edge of the card to bring your focus in.
I did the above card as a 4x4 so I had a remaining 4x4 square piece left over (this was using a 12x12 piece of paper)

So, not to waste my little leftover piece I decided to make a cute little 4x2 card.
Mustaches are so hot right now and I am loving it! I decided my next card would be using a wood mustache piece embossed with hot pink embossing powder for a bright pop of color.

Check it out
To add texture and pop to the background I stamped a little heart all over from Sweet Stamp Shops newest release then added a little bit of the crystal stickle to a few of the hearts, plus a cute little SRM sticker and finished off with some pen lines to add a frame.

Look at that bright bright pink mustache...so fun huh??? Also what an element of surprise. No one expects a pink mustache. Really you could do it in any sort of fun color, green, blue, purple, yellow.

Literally these cards took minutes to make and what a way to make someone feel like you took the time to really make something special for them. Honestly, too, I could have probably spent more time in the card aisle trying to find that "perfect card" then making both of these together lol.

Happy Day To You,
xoxo

Inspired by Love

Well this is a better late then never kinda post...

So normally my husband and I are really good about exchanging Valentines. I normally make a Valentine for him and he usually buys me a treat...and for anyone who knows me, treats are the way to my heart. WELL this year the beautiful season of LOVE completely escaped us. Not only did we forget to get our boys Valentines for school but we did not do anything for each other. BUT....that didn't stop me from creating something, because, at the end of the day there is always next year!!!! Wahoo!!!

Here is what I did
On the first card I kept it light, playful, and fun I just love the way that this card came out. I used some of my favorite products (glimmer mist and distress stains) and techniques (distressing edges and making pennants).

After distressing the edges of the hearts I inked the edges of them to make them stand out just a bit from each other.

On this one I decided to do some fun watermark stamping to give the card a nice subtle background, then added some washi tapes and couple little embellishments and TADAA...
Check out the hearts a little more up close. I love doing this on plain cardstock to give it a fun custom background.

Hope you have been inspired by Love!
