I had my doubts about the weather on Sunday. It was supposed to be good, but right on the coast where we live, the weather is very unpredictable. Woke up on Sunday morning to very thick mist, so I decided to give the early boot sale a miss and try for the second, slightly later one. The sea mist was really thick everywhere, it wasn't exactly cold, but it wasn't the 30C and brilliant sunshine which had been forecast. But the boot sale was on, and so I was a happy bunny, even if I couldn't see to the end of the row, lol.
I found these gorgeous EIFFEL TOWER LEMONADE bottles in a box with lots of other ( mostly chipped ) bottles, but none were as nice and in good condition as these -
At another stall, I found a few nice pieces of bling. I know the large brooch on the right is missing one stone, but I am sure one of these days I will find a matching stone on a damaged brooch I can take apart -
I particularly liked this little brooch, I love the way the blue stone is held between the antlers of the stag -
It is frustrating that I can't get any better close ups, but as my Nikon is in for repairs, I have to use my little point and shoot camera, and it doesn't like close ups very much.
Yet another stall had these gorgeous old cut glass chandelier drops for sale, and of course I couldn't possibly resist all that sparkle -
All but one of my regular favourite stall holders were AWOL, sigh, but the guy who brings a lot of French stuff was there, thank goodness. He didn't have any lace with him, but what he did have was a whole pile of French linen sheets, which I resisted as I have quite a collection already. But amongst the white linen sheets I found a pink, very fine cotton sheet, beautifully embellished with white appliqued roses!! The sheet is huuuuuuuuge and absolutely perfect for the pink bedroom in the French cottage. In the summer, duvets are much too warm, we usually have just a sheet on the bed. I can already see it on there. Perfect.
It is laundered, of course, but I haven't bothered to iron it, it will only get all creased again when its packed up. I'll save that little chore for when we get to France, lol.
He also had some trims, and of course I had to get a couple of rolls -
I love the colour of the ric rac, it is such a yummy caramel.
Thats it for today, it wasn't a huge haul, but enough to keep me happy. Please go and have a look at the other links to beautiful treasures on the Blue Creek Home blog -

Treasure Hunt Thursday........ on Friday
I do have a good excuse though, lol, I was busy busy busy getting two additional prizes ready for my giveaway yesterday. And writing out lots of names. And doing the draw. All very exciting and I forgot all about photographing some bits for the Treasure Hunt.
Treasure hunting didn't go very well last weekend. It had been raining for days, so the boot sales were all cancelled, as the fields they are held in were too soggy. The only treasure hunting I got to do was a little garage sale on Saturday. Actually in the garage, not in the garden or on the pavement, because, yes you guessed, it was raining.
It turned out to be not too shabby, because I managed to find this beautifully decorated very old chamberpot -
I love the beautiful Victorian design and that gorgeous deep green.
I also found a French salt cellar, that was a real surprise, you don't usually come across them here -
It is a very heavy quality piece and in remarkably good condition.
And I found some nice linens! Woohoo! -
Oh, and also got these dinky tiny little cookie cutters there -
The best find for me, however, was a good length of this beautiful antique lace, it is ever so fine and delicate, and so soft -
I am hoping for better weather this weekend, fingers crossed. Can't go too long with a boot sale, lol, I'll get withdrawal symptoms!

Have a lovely weekend, toodlepip xxx

Treasure Hunt Thursday No. 10
In the summer, there are usually two boot fairs in our area, the really early one which starts at 6am Sunday morning and is kinda smallish, and the late start one which we usually go to around 9am, which is somewhat larger. I don't think I have ever come away from either one without buying at least one thing.......... until last Sunday, that is, when the first boot sale yielded absolutely nothing. Zilch. Nada. Nichts. Rien. At least the second boot fair came good, and I found a few things.
I was very happy to once again see the guy who had lots of French stuff a while ago, and who cost me a small fortune the last time I saw him. If you want to see what I spent the money on then, have a look at this post HERE, all the beautiful trims, laces, ribbons and those gorgeous fine threads came from this fella.
This time, I was able to pick up a few more little pieces of vintage French lace, 5 rolls of the most deliciously pale peachy pink vintage seam binding, and a set of 5 French dinner serviettes/napkins, monogrammed of course -
I didn't iron the serviettes before taking a pic, they are as found, because they need a jolly good wash -
The monogram M G is so typically Art Deco -
I have a love/hate relationship with some of the regular stallholders ( when they are there, which is not very often ), because they make me spend lots of money! But I can't resist, I have a passion for linens, lace and all things old.
Here are a few more things I found at other stalls, nothing especially outstanding, but sweet little things nonetheless. A necklace with loads of MOP ( or some other shiny shell ) disks, which I took apart straight away -
A few bits dug out of an old tin with some sewing stuff, a lovely beaded trim, possibly from a lamp, a handful of vintage brass curtain hooks and this sweet little jug cover -
The very fine old netting in the middle is full of holes, but can easily be replaced, and the beautiful fringing with the gorgeous green glass beads is worth saving -
A tiny little needlekeep in the softest suede -
and this little instruction booklet for an antique sewing machine which I had to have because it had such a nice image of the sewing machine in it -
The trim came from yet another stall. I love this shade of baby blue -
Those pompoms are enormous! -
This is quite a sweet thing, a drinking glass with a gorgeous little wicker jacket. Quite small, perhaps it was for Sherry or a tot of Whisky after a lovely picnic in the meadow -
Now, the next item is such a mundane little thing, but incredibly special. It is a piece of wrapping paper. From 1937, would you believe? It commemorates the Coronation of George VI and shows George and Elizabeth. Incredible that this sheet of paper, which most people would have thrown in the bin after unwrapping their present, has survived all these years. It was folded up unfortunately, but I will carefully remove the creases over time and keep it rolled -
Lastly, an item which I had found a few weeks ago, but forgot to show you. It will become my travelling craft case for the summer in France. I don't think this little beauty case has ever been used, it still has the original label attached to it and is absolutely pristine, inside and out -
I am already putting aside bits and pieces to fill it with.
Thats all for today, folks, I need to go and cook dinner. If you can, take some time and visit Blue Creek Home HERE to check out the other Treasure Hunt Thursday posts.
