When we came back to the UK after our summer in France, I managed to catch one of the last outdoor boot fairs of the year, and to my delight, one of my favourite sellers was there. I had bought a number of Victorian scraps from this lovely gentleman over the past few years on the rare occasions he had a stall at the boot fair. This time round, I bought a small bag full of delightful pieces rescued from a Victorian scrap book. To me they look like they have been very carefully cut from greeting cards. For this BLISSFUL WHITES WEDNESDAY, I picked a few scraps featuring gorgeous WHITE flowers -
Soooo sweet!
I am also trying to get catch up with all the tags and inchies challenges I have missed over the last couple of months. Haven't gotten very far yet, lol, but I made a couple of inchies and a couple of tags.
This is one of the catch-up tags, theme was EGYPT -
For the background I used a panel of hieroglyphics, cut out Egyptian columns, and the bust of Nefertiti. What a beauty! Instead of using tassels, I finished off the bottom of the tag with an Egyptian gold ornament.
This week's tag theme was PROVERBS. I chose 'An Englishman's home is his castle' for the tag. The background on this tag is is Warkworth Castle in Northcumberland, reputedly haunted, as any good castle should be of course. I just added a smart looking Victorian gentleman, a few bits of greenery and of course the proverb itself -
Gosh, I missed so many inchies as well. I have only made two catch-up ones so far, SONG -
Thats all for today. As always, its great to see you here! Toodlepip xxx

It has been such a long time
I don't know where the days and weeks have gone. It had been ages since I have spent some time in the craftavan. I really couldn't delay any longer, I was so behind with the weekly challenges, I had to try and catch up. Two tags and three inchies later, here I am with a few photos of the completed challenges.
Last week's theme at Tag Tuesday was WEDDING. Such a lovely theme, I should have jumped on that straight away, but I just wasn't in the right frame of mind. But yesterday, I finally made the tag with hours to spare before the new challenge was up.
I had this beautiful image of a very sad looking young bride and of course my imagination went into overdrive. Was she forced to marry somebody she didn't love? Was her beloved called away to war on the day of their wedding? What made her so sad? So instead of a happy couple I chose the sad young bride for the tag -
This week's theme is COMPLEMENTARY COLOURS and that had me way outside my comfort zone. I don't often use bright colours. What to choose? Green and red? No, I don't like primary red. Blue and orange? Yikes, no, I dislike orange a lot. That left yellow and purple. I managed to find a few purple and yellow bits in my stash in the craftavan -
A yellow bird, a purple butterfly, a yellow ribbon and purple flowers, all on a stamped purple background with deep purple swirlies.
And these are the inchies I should have made over the last three weeks -
For WILD I chose wild hair ( I do know somebody who had dyed her hair this fabulous shade of bluey green ) -
Next was EVIL, and the first thing which sprang to mind was this saying -
And yesterday's theme was GRAY. We are not having grey/gray day days at the moment, but I do remember them from a little while ago when we had plenty of thunderstorms. So the inchie had to be a gray day inchie with a dark grey cotton wool cloud and rain pouring out of it onto a grey landscape-
Just the photo for the Sunday photo word prompt to go, but I haven't done that one yet, bad me.
I am linking the first part of this post to the much loved Blissful Whites Wednesday party at Becky's TIMEWASHED blog. Do visit, you'll love all the gorgeous WHITE posts.
Thanks you all for stopping by, and I hope you have a wonderful week.

My fairy has gone fishing!
You guessed it, it is that time of the week yet again, I got my Every Inchie Monday and Tag Tuesday challenges ready.
The prompt for our inchies this week was FANTASY, so I took a sneaky photograph of the little fairy girl at the bottom of my garden, while she was perched on a toadstool, watching a beetle race so intently that she didn't notice me....... yeah, right ;-). You believe that, don't you? Psst, dont tell, but what I really did was ink the background with three different greens and cut out a tiny toadstool. Then I cut out a tiny little girl, coloured her by hand, gave her a pair of wings and sat her on the toadstool -
The theme on Tag Tuesday was FISH. I took a small portion of a lovely underwater castle desktop image and used that for my background. I had a multi hued snipped of dyed scrim which I used, together with a few real seashells, a sweet little charm, a bit of lace ( gotta have lace, lol ), and of course lots of lovely fishies. They are, after all, the mermaids' playmates, and thus very important creatures in the mermaid castle hierarchy -
I am melting in mid 30 C temperatures! On the plus side, the veggies are doing great in all this sunshine, but we do have to water a lot. Might have to start going down to the lake and filling up our stash of 5l water bottles soon, as our well is dependent on rain water filtering through, it doesn't have a source. We have been eating freshly picked veggies from the garden almost every day, and they taste sooooooooooooooo good!
I have been busy busy busy photographing, packaging, weighing lots of lovely new brocante finds. If you fancy a look, I have posted pics of them on my vintageland blog. There will be lots more over the next few days, I have a huge backlog of stuff.
For now though, toodlepip, and have a wonderful day, xxx

An Italian Story
Oh dear, I have done it again, teased you with a title which is just a little misleading. Yes, I'm afraid, its the weekly challenges again. Over at the Every Inchie Monday blog, the prompt was STORY. Over at the Tag Tuesday blog we had finished the alphabet and were back to normal word prompt. This week's word was ITALY.
Inchie first. I was going to do a Once upon a time inchie, but that had already been done, so I decided to go with the fairytale ending of a story, And They Lived Happily Every After, The End ;-) -
When I thought about Italy, the second thing which came to mind was Venice and the utterly amazing Venetian carnival masks. First thing was food, of course, I love Italian food. The background of the tag is an image of the Bridge of Sighs in Venice. I cut out a couple of masks and tarted them up with some coloured crystals and a silver glitter pen, tied some sort of matching ribbon to the masks and glued them onto the tag so that they looked 3D -
We have proper summer weather at the moment, yay! Temps are up to 30C, the sky is blue, we are getting a lovely gentle breeze coming up from the valley and life is good :-).
I hope life is good for you, too, wherever you are.

Little creative thisses and thats
My craftavan has felt so cosy lately, I have been spending a little time in there creating. I'll show you this week's inchie and tag (the last alphabet tag, sob sob) later, first I'll show you my little lavender filled collage -
And here it is fluttering in the wind, almost like a lavender filled prayer flag -
It was very satisfying making this, although at the beginning it wasn't going as well as planned, and it took me a few days on and off. Still, I am happy with the way it turned out. Most of it is hand stitched, and I used lots of lovely little embellies. I do love my bling, lol.
This week's inchie theme was HOUR, and being the vintage loving girl that I am, it had to be HOURglass figure of course -
And over at the Tag Tuesday blog it was time for the very last alphabet letter, Z. I chose the Zodiac for this tag.The two star signs at the top are mine (Pisces) and my husband's (Leo), and the zodiac at the bottom of the tag was cut from an old French Larousse dictionary. The gorgeous main image came from somewhere on the internet, must look up where I got it from, lol. Of course it all had to be embellished with lots of little gold and silver gems for stars -
Until tomorrow, toodlepip xxx
