Haircuts, Frisbees and Some Movies

Mom was going to use the title 'Nekkid Doodle Gals! Live!' but we thought she'd lure too many creepy Googlers with that title so Abby and I used our veto power.  But if you must know, we ARE nekkid.

*ahem*

So, where to start?  Well, first, Fall has Most Definitely come to the Wasatch.  These was taken earlier in the week, and the leaves are even more fall-like now.  However, we had a really dry spring/summer, so the 'fall flame' is not super vibrant.  But not exactly drab, either.

"Can we get moving?  There are some squirrels up there we'd like to investigate..."
You may notice in those photos that we are a bit hairy, and more importantly, we were getting hot on our walkies.  So Mom thought it might be time to do the hair cut thing again.

Mom decided to 'stage' the process, bathing us one day, and then cutting our hairs over the weekend.  We did our absolute best to look pathetic about our baths, but Abby just doesn't seem to 'do' pathetic.  She's much better at 'baby-bird'.

Me?  I can TOTALLY do pathetic.

"Woe is me.  Woe, I tell you."
Abby?  Yeah, still not doing that pathetic thing.

Ah well, she still has much to learn.

Anyhoo, in spite of me doing my best to look all pathetic, Mom carried on with her foolish ideas of cutting our hairs, and on Saturday afternoon we were frolicking nekkid.

Nekkid, I tell you.

Still goofy, regardless of the length of her hairs.

Yes, I know I'm gorgeous, but would you throw the frisbee already?
At least Mom had the good sense to cut my hairs first - I'm much more tolerant of the process than a certain Hippobottomus I might mention.  And, Mom's co-worker and friend Renee came up to visit us (because, really, who wouldn't want to meet a couple of doodle sisters?) and I was looking all sleek and groomed, while Abby was still looking shaggy.

"Why, yes, I AM the much better sister.  Thank you for noticing!"
Heehee!  We've decided to adopt her as Aunt Renee because she is a Most Excellent Treat Distributor.  Of course, she has had plenty of practice distributing treats, as she is the servant to a household of cats of her own.

After the excitement of the mid-day visit, Abby was ready for her grooming, and a few hours later, Abby too was nekkid.

Which, of course meant Nekkid Doodle Frisbee Action.

She looks so much more streamlined when she's nekkid!

Apparently she's also got quite a bit more 'lift' when she's nekkid!

And I look so much cuter playing tug-of-war when you can see my pretty face.

And I'm more bouncy, too!
Since Mom has been getting better at throwing the frisbee left-handed while snapping photos with her right hand, she thought she'd try some more of the 'sports' settings on her camera, including a setting that shoots 60 frames in a row.  After experimenting with this for a while, Mom thought she'd make some 'stop-action' movies (since the movies are just individuals frames pasted together).

Here was her first attempt at movie-making  (for those of you who are receiving this bloggie via email, here is the direct link to the video in YouTube:  http://youtu.be/AQUAoOOdth0 )

You will note that her first movie-making attempt was a silent film...  But with a little guidance from her fellow crazy dog lady friends who live in her computer, Mom was able to add catchy tunes to the next movie...

Again, here is the link for those of you getting this via email:  http://youtu.be/O5IZE4FBJoM

Mom clearly has some work to do before she's ready to submit anything to the Sundance Film Festival, but I will readily admit that my sister looks impressive in slow-motion!  (And for those of you paying attention, Abby is furry in the first movie and nekkid in the second movie...)

So that was our week!  What have you been up to?

Our weekend 'adventure'

Somewhere along the way, Mom got this brilliant idea that she could groom us herself, rather than paying our local professional groomers zillions of dollars.  "How hard can this be?" she asked.  And all her fellow crazy dog ladies were all, "Oh, it's EASY.  And it's great bonding time with your dogs.  You'll love it."  They even gave her links to YouTube videos where drugged doggies were standing all passively while their owners run vicious clipper thingys all over their bodies and faces and feet and whatnot. And since Mom is a crazy kool-aid-drinking dog lady, she was all, "Yeah.  You're right.  I SO can do this!  This will be such fun!"

Were we consulted?

Of course not.

So Mom ordered a whole bunch of grooming stuff, and was all excited to get started, as we were getting a bit wooly.  Wooly?  Us?  Just because we want the air conditioning on when it's 40 degrees out does NOT mean we are hot and wooly...

You be the judge.

Not wooly.  Just preparing for winter.  If it ever gets here.
Anyhoo, we didn't have doggie class this Saturday, so Mom decided that would be the PERFECT day to groom us.

*sigh*

First, she and Dad set up the grooming table.

Really?  You can NOT be serious!
Apparently Mom was serious.  And out came the clippers.  Luckily, one of Mom's crazy dog lady friends very nicely suggested that Abby be the first victim so I wouldn't have the be the guinea pig.  Thank you, Dexter Momma!!!

Abby was a wee bit less thrilled about this prospect, and Dad suggested that this whole grooming thing might be a two-person project.

Non-plussed fluffy puppy

Given that Abby was Not Thrilled about the whole home grooming thing, it was probably a good thing that Dad stepped in.  However, grooming is very taxing on his back and by the time Abby declared herself done, both seemed a little frazzled.

Non-plussed nekkid puppy and tired Dad

However, being the trooper that he is, Dad continued on so I wouldn't be left alone with Mom and the clippers.

Note Mom's look of determined concentration and my look of "I'm SO over this."

My head really isn't that big, BTW - it was just the angle of the camera.

When it was all said and done, Abby and I both survived the experience.

You're done now, right?!?

After both of us, Mom was a little too 'worn out' to trim our ears and top knots.

I would like to state for the record that I DO NOT LIKE clippers around my feet.  And I'll do just about anything to avoid them.  Mom tried the 'lift the opposite foot so Fi has to stand still on the foot I'm trying to clip' move, and lemme tell ya, I had to reveal my secret powers of levitation more than once.  Which may or may not have resulted in me having 'Yeti toes' (as Mom calls them).  So my toes are a wee bit hairy.  If winter ever comes, I'm going to want warm tootsies!

At least I was not as bad as Abby, who didn't like her toes being clippered OR having clippers near her face.  Dad attempted to use the scissors on Abby's face, and well, it'll grow out, right?!?

You might have to biggify to see the 'layers' on her snooter.
Heehee.  Mom vows that she will consult with Jessi and see if there is some way to get us to stay still so our face and feet can be trimmed without danger of losing an eye or a toe (or a finger, if we were to chomp one off - not that we would, but the threat is always there, if ya know what I mean!).  So, apparently, Mom is going to attempt this home grooming adventure again at some point.  (BTW, Mom, I'll let you trim my belly - it's a bit hairy and a hairy belly is just not a flattering look for a stylish gal such as myself!)

We have suggested to Mom, however, that maybe she shouldn't rush to quit her day job!  Heehee!

Nekkid Fotos

Apparently there was a great deal of interest in seeing our nekkid photos, so here ya go.

First, a couple 'before' photos...

*sigh* Lard-Tuchus is a bit obstinate when it comes to looking at the camera on command.
We were getting a wee bit shaggy.  Which was not super compatible with our ultra-warm weather as of late.  So we were hustled off to the doggie spa, and came back nekkid.

Abby had to immediately get the New Dog Smell off...

And we had to get in a little nekkid bitey-face.

We were all happy with our sleek, short summer hair cuts.  Until we woke up this morning.

Great timing on the haircuts, Mom!
Actually, we were quite comfy despite being nekkid in the snow.  And a little nekkid bitey-face always warms us up!

BTW, Mom was thrilled with the snow; she spent some time yesterday raking the backyard, in preparation for grass seed and fertilizer.  And was whining about sore muscles and blisters today; I think she was actually REALLY happy to see the snow, as it meant that she didn't have to do more yard work today!  Heehee!

*ahem*

More nekkid photos for your viewing pleasure...

Is it me, or does Abby have toothpick-like leggies?  Heehee.
And some nekkid snow zoomies...

And, just in case you wanted to see our smiling faces, here were are...

And here is a gratuitous snooter picture - Mom was playing around with the camera the night before our spa day...
Really?  Really?  *sigh*  The things I do to amuse Mom...
Heh!  Our weather is supposed to warm back up again pretty quickly, so Mom will be able to get back to raking/seeding/fertilizing.  Which, if you've been paying attention is almost 2 months sooner than last year.  So maybe this year, we'll have an Ever Better lawn!

Nekkid Pictures AND Video

Heehee. Today was another hot day (upper 80s, which for us, IS hot - I know the rest of the country would LOVE to have our weather... until it's snowing in May, and then maybe not so much...), so Abby and I were happy again to have our short hair cuts.

For those of you who like the fuzzy faces... our buddy Clive has a fuzzy face, and he's very handsome, but Mom and Dad like to see our pretty snooters (their words, not mine!).

And the haircuts were good for Park Zoomies. We were Super Streamlined!

I did NOT have my regularly scheduled doggie class today because I would have been The Only One - all of my classmates are on vacation! So, I am going to go to a Different Doggie Class tomorrow morning, with new and exciting classmates! I'm sure Mom will take pictures (and have to explain to the other humans about our bloggie so they don't think she's weird taking pictures of the other doggies). However, since I didn't have my class today, and Mom didn't want to take Abby to Petco to get ready for her Good Citizen test (the shopping area where Petco is located is Crazy Busy on Fridays, and Mom didn't want to hassle the traffic if she didn't have to), Mom decided to stimulate our mentals in other ways.

For Christmas (or maybe Abby's birthday, or something), Granny and Grandpa got us a 'beginner agility set.' We don't have any agility programs nearby (well, not that Mom knows of) - the closest is about 45 minutes away (on a good day), and Mom thought it would be a good idea to see if it was anything we were remotely interested in before she started driving us to Salt Lake (or invested in 'real' equipment). Anyhoo, Mom thought today would be a good day to play with the set. We have tried out the jump once before, and even though it's not the highest quality in the world (okay, it's a little flimsy), it works just fine for us, and we're having fun. Mom also thought this would be a great chance to get some video. Even though she had never used the video recorder on her camera before.

So... I present to you a short video of our adventures:

If you can't see the video, use this link: http://youtu.be/YtGDclgiiXo

Let's just say it is a testament to our love for Mom that we allowed her to film us. I mean, if she wants to look silly for the world to see, that's okay... But seriously, we had fun! And apparently Mom amused herself in making the video.... And feel free to chuckle all you like - Mom doesn't really know what she's doing, but she's promising to study up...

If you can't see the video, here are a few 'snapshots' from the video...

Yes, Abby knocked the bar down there...

Clearly, we're not going to be challenging Brutus and Carmen (aka The Flying Frenchies) any time soon, but we had fun, and it seemed to keep Mom amused!

More park pictures and pictures from my class later this weekend. Stay tuned!

Nekkid Photos and Stuff

First, thanks to everyone who wished my Dad a happy birthday!! He had a great birthday; one of Mom and Dad's friends even came by with a birthday cake! And a small child for us to munch on.

You'll notice that Abby is quite interested in getting a nibble of the small child! BTW, Dad was totally not expecting this, so that's why he's not dressed in his party clothes.

Unfortunately, the cake was chocolate, so Abby and I had to content ourselves with the small child sweet potato snacks. Mom says the cake was Most Yummy (and they have a bunch of leftovers, if anyone would like to stop by and have some!).

Abby and I celebrated Dad's birthday by getting some serious bitey-face action going.

As the Wild Dingos pointed out, 6 lbs is a big difference; over 10% of my body weight. So I'm going to have to work on my cunning and treachery to smackdown Lard Butt.

I'm also hoping that if I show her my teeth she'll be intimidated. Don't worry. I'm still working on other plans.

Some of you may have noticed that Abby and I are getting a little woolly. Truthfully when our own Granny and Clive both mention that we are woolly, Mom starts to look more critically at us.

Us? Woolly? Naw. She must be thinking of some other goldendoodles.

Anyhoo, it's also been really warm (for us, for this time of year) - in the 50s during the day - and Abby and I have been getting a little hot, particularly at night. To the extent that Mom and Dad have had to turn the air conditioning on at night so we don't get all hot and restless. So.... Mom thought that maybe we needed haircuts.

Haircuts? Seriously? However, we didn't have much of a choice; Mom made an appointment, loaded us into the car, and the next thing we knew, we were being shampooed and shorn.

And now we're nekkid!

Teehee.

Mom will get some more pictures of us tomorrow, when we've recovered from our afternoon at the spa. It's a tough job being beautiful, but someone's got to do it!
