Of Frisbees and Stolen Hair and LOTS of Photos (surprise, surprise...)

Seriously, if there is a post that has less than 87 pictures in it, assume our Mom has been abducted by aliens and has been replaced by a pod person.

Anyhoo...  This has been a busy week; I had a vet appointment in which they took pictures of my insides (I'm fine - and Mom was really tempted to take pictures of the person taking pictures of my insides but she was a little worried that they might actually find something so she was a wee bit distracted and thus no pictures - but again, I'm fine), Mom has been busy at work, and then Mom thought she had something wrong with her car and she spent Friday afternoon test-driving cars (no, really, she did - it was a slow day at the car dealership) while the dealership determined that there was nothing wrong with her car.

In spite of all that excitement, Mom has managed to find time to take "a few" pictures of us.

"Why yes, this late afternoon winter sun IS rather flattering.  Thank you!"
The duct tape that Mom used to fix the Doodle Launcher last week may not be holding...  Luckily, Abby is always the test pilot.

Does anyone see a *splat* coming?

Definite Doodle Launcher malfunction!

Here it appears the Doodle Launcher has blown a gasket...
Mom is now deciding if she should repair the Doodle Launcher, or if she should take Dennis the Vizsla's suggestion and build a Doodle-pult, or a Doodle-Trebuchet.  Of course, we think any suggestion from Dennis should be considered carefully, as Dennis is known for zany antics that usually end up with him being busted out of jail by Bugs Bunny and/or Ninja Hedgehogs wild adventures that don't always work out exactly as he intended.

So while Mom is considering repairs on the Doodle Launcher, we've managed to still have Fun With Frisbees!

"Coming through!"

Zoom-zoom!

Got it!

Got it again!

Mom's first successful attempt at getting a picture of me running with a frisbee.

Crazy puppy!
Mom was rather pleased with the 'running with frisbee' shots (she's still learning her camera) so she got a few more.

And Abby continues her rehearsals for that famous ballet, Doodle Lake.

While we were having fun, Mom somehow got the idea that we should get baths.  (The weather has been quite warm for us for this time of year - in the lower 40s during the day - which isn't doing much for our snow, incidentally...)  Baths are fine.  But unfortunately after Mom brushes us out after our baths, there are times that she decides we are 'wooly', and even 'shaggy'.  This was one of those times...

Who ya calling wooly?!?
Okay, Abby is a little shaggy.  I'll grant you that.

Me?  Shaggy?  Naw!  I'm just going for that bohemian look.

"She can't be talking about us.  She must be talking about some OTHER shaggy dogs."  "Totally."
Yeah, well, once Mom gets an idea in her head, it's hard to get her to drop it.  So today (Monday) she decided to take advantage of the three-day weekend (and the fact that neither Mom nor Dad wants to venture out of the house while the Sundance Film Festival is in swing because the traffic is quite bad - something about former mining towns generally only having one or at most two ways in and out, and a zillion people coming in for all the festivities and the skiing) to Steal Our Hair!

After our morning walkies, Mom put on her extremely flattering *cough* grooming attire (which is about 10 sizes too big - she bought them in a medium, but apparently a medium in groomer's clothes is like a 3XL in normal people clothes - Mom does not understand why that is, but since it keeps most of our hair from getting on her, she's sticking with them), put on the music and broke out the clippers.

Me, I'm okay with the grooming thing.  It's not as fun as frisbees and walkies, but I can live with it.

You can just hear Abby: "Dad?  Can you save me from this?  Please?!?"
Abby is not quite as tolerant of the whole grooming process as I am; she tends to move around alot, doesn't like having her feet touched and is (and I quote Mom here), "a bit of a challenge".

Note Mom's look of stern concentration, her death-grip on Abby's face, and Abby's complete lack of enthusiasm (and Mom's highly attractive ginormous grooming top decorated with well-behaved poodles).
But when it was all said and done, we were decidedly less shaggy, and yet not so nekkid as to be cold, if cold weather ever comes out way again.

Abby, looking almost like a respectable doggie.

My ears are really not as choppy as this photo makes them look - I had just finished a vigorous frisbee session.
Mom, of course, also tried to get some shots from different angles, including her odd position where she gets down on the ground and looks up at us.

"Hey, Mom?  Whatcha doing down there?"

"Fi, don't tell Mom, but I think she dropped her treat bag.  I've got my sights on it!"
Heehee.

Of course, all the excitement of baths and haircuts and whatnot has left us sleepy...

Zzzzzz... (Yes, this was a pre-haircut photo, but Mom rather likes it.)

Anyhoo, we look forward to being more aerodynamic in our frisbee escapades!  Have a great week!

Haircuts, Frisbees and Some Movies

Mom was going to use the title 'Nekkid Doodle Gals! Live!' but we thought she'd lure too many creepy Googlers with that title so Abby and I used our veto power.  But if you must know, we ARE nekkid.

*ahem*

So, where to start?  Well, first, Fall has Most Definitely come to the Wasatch.  These was taken earlier in the week, and the leaves are even more fall-like now.  However, we had a really dry spring/summer, so the 'fall flame' is not super vibrant.  But not exactly drab, either.

"Can we get moving?  There are some squirrels up there we'd like to investigate..."
You may notice in those photos that we are a bit hairy, and more importantly, we were getting hot on our walkies.  So Mom thought it might be time to do the hair cut thing again.

Mom decided to 'stage' the process, bathing us one day, and then cutting our hairs over the weekend.  We did our absolute best to look pathetic about our baths, but Abby just doesn't seem to 'do' pathetic.  She's much better at 'baby-bird'.

Me?  I can TOTALLY do pathetic.

"Woe is me.  Woe, I tell you."
Abby?  Yeah, still not doing that pathetic thing.

Ah well, she still has much to learn.

Anyhoo, in spite of me doing my best to look all pathetic, Mom carried on with her foolish ideas of cutting our hairs, and on Saturday afternoon we were frolicking nekkid.

Nekkid, I tell you.

Still goofy, regardless of the length of her hairs.

Yes, I know I'm gorgeous, but would you throw the frisbee already?
At least Mom had the good sense to cut my hairs first - I'm much more tolerant of the process than a certain Hippobottomus I might mention.  And, Mom's co-worker and friend Renee came up to visit us (because, really, who wouldn't want to meet a couple of doodle sisters?) and I was looking all sleek and groomed, while Abby was still looking shaggy.

"Why, yes, I AM the much better sister.  Thank you for noticing!"
Heehee!  We've decided to adopt her as Aunt Renee because she is a Most Excellent Treat Distributor.  Of course, she has had plenty of practice distributing treats, as she is the servant to a household of cats of her own.

After the excitement of the mid-day visit, Abby was ready for her grooming, and a few hours later, Abby too was nekkid.

Which, of course meant Nekkid Doodle Frisbee Action.

She looks so much more streamlined when she's nekkid!

Apparently she's also got quite a bit more 'lift' when she's nekkid!

And I look so much cuter playing tug-of-war when you can see my pretty face.

And I'm more bouncy, too!
Since Mom has been getting better at throwing the frisbee left-handed while snapping photos with her right hand, she thought she'd try some more of the 'sports' settings on her camera, including a setting that shoots 60 frames in a row.  After experimenting with this for a while, Mom thought she'd make some 'stop-action' movies (since the movies are just individuals frames pasted together).

Here was her first attempt at movie-making  (for those of you who are receiving this bloggie via email, here is the direct link to the video in YouTube:  http://youtu.be/AQUAoOOdth0 )

You will note that her first movie-making attempt was a silent film...  But with a little guidance from her fellow crazy dog lady friends who live in her computer, Mom was able to add catchy tunes to the next movie...

Again, here is the link for those of you getting this via email:  http://youtu.be/O5IZE4FBJoM

Mom clearly has some work to do before she's ready to submit anything to the Sundance Film Festival, but I will readily admit that my sister looks impressive in slow-motion!  (And for those of you paying attention, Abby is furry in the first movie and nekkid in the second movie...)

So that was our week!  What have you been up to?

A busy weekend!

With a long weekend ahead of her, Mom seemed to be all into 'getting things done'.  She kept saying "Things to do," with an ironic glee.  We have No Idea what she was on about, but apparently our Granny will know Exactly what Mom is talking about.

The first of the Things To Do was *gasp* wash us and give us haircuts.

"Really?  How does any of this seem like a good idea?"

Of course, Little Miss Dorkadoodle was all into this.  Sort of.
Anyway, after a nice sunbake to dry (Mom didn't use the Evil Hair Dryer on us, thank heavens!), Mom got down to the business of haircuts.  For some reason, I went first, and I came out perfectly (well, Mom's still learning this whole grooming thing... so I was mostly perfect... and Mom kept talking about some guy riding by on a fast horse and not noticing anything... I was confused, as we don't have any horses in our neighborhood.  I think Mom is starting to lose it.)

"Why yes, I AM pretty."
Abby was second in line, and was (according to Mom) being "a bit difficult".  So Abby has a hairy chin and looks like she has mange in spots.  Mom is threatening to 'clean Abby up', but so far, Abby has escaped a re-do.

"Yeah, I have a hairy chin.  What of it?  My hairs are mostly short now, so I can bitey longer without getting hot!"
Of course, Abby and I had to test out our new do's.

Yep.  Nekkid bitey-face works just fine.

And, of course, we continued to perfect our frisbee technique.

Taking her cue from Chubby Checker, Abby decided to 'Do the Twist'!

Nice full extension.  She might have even caught the frisbee.

I think Abby actually recovered from this position.

A bit of hang-time.  But she can do better!
But don't think this has turned into the All-Abby Frisbee Show.

Yes, Hippobottomus.  Watch and learn.  Notice how I actually CATCH the frisbee.

And I, too, can fly!

Oh yeah!  Nekkid frisbee zoomies!
Heheh.

You'd think after the trauma of our haircuts, Mom would have spent the rest of the weekend feeding us treats and throwing frisbees on demand in an attempt to earn our forgiveness.

But no.

Apparently she and Dad have started 'bye-sickle-ing' again.  We don't know what this entails, other than them dressing in funny clothes, leaving the house for a while, and returning, often followed by a nap.  While we don't mind the whole nap part of things (we are Very Good nappers), we have No Idea what they do while they are gone.  The following photo purports to be of this 'bye-sickle-ing' but it merely looks like Mom standing around in Day-Glo clothes to us.

At least Mom hasn't totally abandoned us for this so-called activity.  We did get to go on lots of walkies this weekend.

See how streamlined we are with our haircuts?  It makes for Much Faster walkies.

Except when Mom feels the need to stop for more 'photo ops'.

"Why does this sign say 'road closed'?  We just walked down this road.  True, there was a big hole in the middle of the road, but it wasn't totally closed..."
And we observed a moment of silence on Memorial Day for all those who have given their lives in service to our country.

"Thank you for preserving our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of bully sticks."
And here I am, striking a dramatic pose.  (Abby wasn't so keen on the flapping of the flag.)

We hope you all had a great weekend, and a great upcoming week!

And if you want one more view of my more streamlined self, here you go!

"I AM rather striking, if I say so myself!"
