This and that........

I'll have you know, that when you see pictures of the girls posed together, sitting on the couch or in a chair, chances are I did NOT pose them. It was Keifer, requesting to "hogue" (hold with a "g" sound instead of the "ld" sound) her sister and "mom, take a picture!". The girl adores her baby sister, simply adores her. The feeling is mutual, for now, thank goodness.

Here they are, the "beary sweet" sissies - LOL at mama being silly
Ahhh, pure love-can you feel it radiating off of Keifer? And Kyla- oye- I wanna eat that girl UP!
As usual, Kyla has a finger (or hand) in her mouth (always!) and who knows what Keifer is doing. Oh, and that's Keifer's "I'm a big sister" bracelet on her wrist-she loves to wear pretty bracelets and is very proud of this one.
Doing what she does best: take pictures around the house, especially of her sissy (chewing on her hands) as Treble watches over the activitiesOur friends Christian and Jackson came over with their baby Dylan and mama Allison for a play date! Here, they are exploring the water color books where you just add water and paint
Although Keifer is learning the sequence of water colors painting (water, paint, picture), she really enjoys just adding water and voila: the colors appear!
Ohhhh, feed me, feed me!! The girl makes a LOT of noise when it's meal time- believe me, you know when she wants to be fed or if you're not feeding her fast enough!
Here Keifer was behaving while I fed Kyla (some days, it just isn't possible for her! LOL) , and played with her Silly Parts Talking Potato Head Elmo (which I found at a consignment sale last Spring for $2- score!)- she rarely plays with her toys - I have to persuade her lately- all she wants to do is what MAMA is doing!

Keifer pics - a load of 'em!

Trying to get caught up on Keifer pictures! I have a list somewhere of her cute things she's doing - she has been changing on a daily basis with the things she does and things she is saying. I thought I'd post some pictures to start and I'll update more with the info soon!

Here she is preparing something yummy on the stove of her new kitchen! *so serious*
enjoying the meal afterwards!
And, enjoying another meal on the stairs on another day (or was she "whisking" some eggs?)
Hi, mama!
Making sure baby gets a warm bottle
On another day, but she put baby "Kyla" in her seat and gave her some food and a bottle
The girl LOVES her ABC's! (she is always singing the song. ALWAYS.)
I love this: I call this the "Aftermath of an Artist"
Her latest thing: when she wants to watch "Elmo", she'll lay on the couch and pull the blanket up; she thinks she's hot stuff doing this!
CHEESE!
Petting and saying goodbye to her best friend, Sager, before we leave for Elaine's one morning

Busy, busy

The Soup household is as busy as ever. We only have one child, but I swear, it is insane sometimes how busy we get.
Yesterday, K was overjoyed when Papa Dale, Nana, and Great-Auntie Barbara (she loved saying that name all day!) came to visit. We had lunch at the Cracker Barrel, my mom's favorite, and K indulged in lots of roast beef with her daddy. We were happy, as she has been refusing to eat all proteins lately at home, except for cheese - which then binds her up, which in turn doesn't help her pooping issues.

Anyhoo, then K napped and Daddy and Papa put together her new Little Tikes Kitchen. It is a dream boat of a kitchen. I had read online in reviews that people weren't happy with the amount of time it takes to put together. Well, Papa and Daddy took around 3 hours, give or take, helping each other and voila: it was done. K was a little stunned, to say the least. She was unusually quiet as she investigated the kitchen, and ALL of adults played with the knobs and doors, delighting in how cute it all is. Eventually, she got the hang of it, and soon, was very seriously cooking away to her heart's content. My mom (Nana) also brought her a new step stool for the bathroom, complete with Elmo on it. Well, our girl insists that this is her chair, that needs to be next to the coffee table, and this is where she brings all the food she "cooks". Ahh, that girl has her own mind. **pics of the new Top Chef to come soon!*

Today, we had ushering duties at church, which is always a tich difficult because our girl screams and cries when we leave her in the nursery. We're not sure why: she usually does well with other kids and people, but she is so insecure there. Eventually she was OK, and we took her back for the end of the service, after we did our collection.

Mama and K took a nap, and then we visited my coworker Nicole (Hi, Nicole!) who had a baby girl, Elizabeth, almost 8 weeks ago (already!?). Elizabeth is a doll! So beautiful and tiny and made me itch for our newborn to be here. *sigh*. Keifer didn't mind me holding her and even brought Elizabeth's Nuk for me to give her. However, we found out that Keifer has trouble getting along with others her own age, as Nicole's little Patrick is 2 months younger than K, and all K did was screech and wail and use her "mine" and "no" most of the time we were there. Ahh, K, the joys of growing up and learning how to get along with others. Patrick is just a dolly, too. What a fun house!

Tonight, I'm settling down to watch the Golden Globes, which is my equivalent to the Super Bowl! I love movies, and I love this awards show, as they are a bit looser than the stuffier Academy Awards (Oscars). I'm off for some rainbow sherbet (yum) and to cuddle with my Tboy, who is already snoozing on "his" blanket, waiting for me.

Tomorrow, it's OB appointment after work and the K and I are going to attempt to make it to Baby Ballroom. She doesn't realize this, and I'm so excited to get back into the dancing groove with her! YAY!

Christmas came early for Keifer

Christmas came a bit early this past weekend for Keifer. Papa Jim and Nana Marge splurged and got her the new Elmo Live doll. This Elmo is insane: he can sing, dance, tell jokes, cross his legs, and gets our girl smiling and dancing. When she first saw him at Target a few weeks back, I literally got tears in my eyes at her look of pure AWE (hormones, anyone?).
So thank you, Papa & Nana, for the gift that Keifer loves and loves each day. She hugs Elmo everytime she plays with it.

big hugs
Mama! It's ELMO!

Here's a video of Elmo and Keifer getting to know each other:

Ball Mania FUN

Last summer, we found this Ball Mania ball pool at a KB Toy outlet in a 'burb an hour north of us.
We also found it in Portland, visiting Mooshie and company last summer, and purchased it for Maddie & Alex for their Christmas gifts from us.

Maddie loved it and we enjoyed seeing pictures of the kids in the ball pool, surrounding by a million and one stuffed animals.

Last night, CJ pumped it up for our angel girl, and she plowed her way into the ball pool, and we were greeted with cries of delight! She loved it! She loved grabbing the balls (apparently she wants to hold onto all the red ones, for some reason), and she was just a hoot to watch babbling and screeching with joy. I'll get some pictures of her later.........

What is Keifer up to these days? A LOT!

Mama and Dada went to Cancun, and all I got was the "almost" too small Tshirt? Oye. LOL. *unbelievable that this shirt is almost too tight for our girl! AHH*
Oh me, oh my, where to begin?

Our angel girl is growing leaps and bounds in her ability to do and say things, and of course, CJ and I are proud as peacocks. Let's see......
~When her new Song and Story Chair crayons sing "la la la la la la la", K will laugh and sing "la la la" along with them.
~She is quacking with her toy ducks on a regular basis and attempting to say "duck" quite a bit, as well.

~In the tub, in her bath book, I'll ask her "where's the turtle" and she can point right at the turtle correctly! YAY! She'll then point at the frog, and say "gog".

~She calls a banana "nana" and will say "hot" at child care for Elaine.

~Whenever we hear music, wherever we are or whatever it is (out to eat as background music, my cell phone ringing, commercials on TV, the radio, elevators, car, you name it), our girl will rock side to side with the music that she hears. Tonight, we were out to eat with some friends of mine, and she was rocking out in her chair so hard to the Bee Gee's, I thought she would tip (thank goodness I always have my foot on the base of those high chairs! Whew). The girl knows some good music! The cutest thing, too, is that when she hears the music and starts dancing, she'll immediately look to mama to see if she is dancing along with her! LOL

~Although she has many toys and books, which she loves to look at on a daily basis, what really gets this girl smiling is a plain old half -filled water bottle (tightly closed). She loves to shake it and acts so proud when she splashed the water inside the bottle around. She's also been trying very hard to say "bottle", and both CJ and swear we've heard her say it more than once.

~Our girl is the biggest love bug cuddler you've ever met. She loves to crawl up to mama or daddy, and lay her head in our lap. She's always reaching her hands out to "share" her toys or food with us, and tonight at dinner, she kept leaning her head into my shoulder from her chair, to give me a hug. When we blow kisses to her, she blows them back, and she now thinks saying "I love you" means blowing a kiss. *sigh*. If she ever hears the word "love" in anything, she immediately starts blowing kisses. She also loves to give all her friends at Elaine's hugs when she leaves, especially Elaine.
~ Speaking of which, each and every AM, as I get her dressed, I'll ask her if she's ready to go see Elaine and her friends, and she'll respond by waving happily.
~Our girl is also signing two word signs! Last week, I was asking her in sign if she wanted "more water", and she repeated the same exact thing after me. Now, all I'll do is prompt her if she seems like she wants her glass, and she'll sign it! *hurrah*
~And of course, her favorite activity of late in the high chair is dropping her food to see where it goes (and how fast it gets gobbled up in our two dog household). *sigh*. Hence, mama having a hold of her water glass, instead of keeping it within her reach for now.

Poor girl is teething lately. She'll crawl around and play with this teething ring in her mouth, until the coldness stops and it gets all warm. Then, she prefers to grab mama's fingers and lead them straight to her mouth, where she'll chomp on them and giggle with delight when I pretend to be horrified.

More birthday gifts? THANK YOU, Auntie Kir! You are such a sweet Auntie! We can't wait to meet you and your boys some day! *we LOVE the outfit! and yes, we have to exchange for a bigger size, because our girl is so darn BIG! But, we'll get the same one: we love the colors and our girl does, too!* We don't mind her exploring some cupboards; don't worry, the important ones are locked up tight!

Yay for Spring!

Spring has finally arrived! After almost a week of overcast, rainy weather, today was finally gorgeous. Blue skies, sunshine, and warm temps. We had a wonderful weekend together - our first "family weekend" in quite some time.

Yesterday, after our family and K's one year pictures, we came home and went on the maiden walk using K's new Whisper Buggy - her birthday gift from CJ and I. She doesn't really know what to think of this quite yet: the only thing she knows is, she likes to go fast (she rocks her body back and forth if I stop or go to slow! HA!), and she likes to beep the horn. LOL. She also continuously said "hi" to her dada, and kept waving at him ahead of us, walking our fur kids.

Today, K and I went to church, where we were having a Goodbye Brunch/ Earth Day celebration. We were saying goodbye to our interim Pastor, who was the Pastor that baptized K and I in October. K did so well, I was so impressed with our little angel girl. She loved all the special music that was played and performed today (our dancer girl came out, rocking to and fro), and she loved the brunch we shared after the extended special service. After a short nap at home, we again took the Whisper Buggy out with the pup pups, and then Mama and Dada took her to the gym for some swimming. Our girl loved it - she loves to splash and kick her little legs as fast as she could go. She was so cute - she kept saying "hi" to the teen aged male lifeguard, who didn't see us. Hee hee. After swimming, Mama and K took a bath together, and then our pooped out girl took a long, late nap (along with mama, in her own bed). Whew. What a day.

Pics to come soon of our girl traveling in her buggy.

Vroom Vroom Vroom

K got a new toy from cousin Aubrie (man, oh man, we love cousin Aubrie! Clothes, toys.....). We took it out this weekend and she wasn't too sure what to think about it. Here she is trying it for the very first time. Enjoy!

We're back

CJ, Keifer, myself and our fur kids got back into town yesterday afternoon after my Grandma's funeral. It was an emotional day on Wednesday, saying good bye to her for good. The service was nice and quite a few family friends showed up to pay their respects. It was very emotional for us, but at the same time, nice to enjoy memories about my special Grandma with my loved ones, and seeing my family that I might not see in the next few months. I even got to visit with my Sixth Grade teacher (he went to church with my grandparents). That was fun.

We got home yesterday, unloaded the car (it's amazing how much I packed for just 2 nights away), and turned around for Keifer's daycare's party. Elaine and her hubby hosted quite the party - complete with the real life Santa Claus! Keif was up past her bedtime, but she seemed to enjoy the party and it was fun for CJ and I to meet the other parents, and watch how much all the kids love Elaine and how many of her former kids were there, too. Keifer did so well last month on Santa's lap, but when Santa called our her name and asked for her to come see him, CJ had to carry her and sit on his lap with Keif on HIS lap. LOL. Keifer was not happy - she ended up getting scared and started crying. She got a really cute (her first!) baby doll from Santa and a Rainbow Fish board book (which she promptly had to 'read' right there on Daddy's lap afterwards. We weren't able to stay for the snacks/food, but a good time was had. Poor Elaine had such a good time she overslept this AM. And because my head is in la-la land these days, I forgot our camera and didn't get any pictures of Keifer with her friends or with the real life Santa Claus. *sigh*

checking out my new baby doll - so gentle until I try to bite her arm off!
