Blog Hop with DCWV and Clear Scraps!
Friday, November 22, 2013
Hey there crafty peeps!
joining together to show how fabulous their products are together.
So if you are here for the first time welcome!
And if you are a regular, so glad you are!
I got to work with DCWV's Jolly Whimsy Stack and a Clear Scraps 5 piece banner.
I took lot of pictures so you can see all the fun little details!
I used Staz On directly on the acrylic banner then added
lots of fun accents that I cut out from the Jolly Whimsy stack.
As you can see in this picture there are lots of metallic accents in this stack as well
as really cute images and shades pink and green.
What I love about this stack is that you can use the whole sheets or cut
it up like I did; Can't you imagine these as tags for your Christmas presents?
I actually embossed the acrylic - I wouldn't do this with any acrylic,
there is a little warping and you do have to move fast but it does work.
I wish you could see this in person so you could see how cool the raised
notes and glitter look on the acrylic!
Those itty bitty flags are DCWV too!
I threw these pictures in because you cant see this in the other pictures-
I used DCWV glitter paper to mat everything and look at how it sparkles!
Be sure to leave a comment here and on all the other designers' blogs to be entered to win a Goodie Box from DCWV!There will be 2 winners picked and announced on the DCWV blog.
You have until Midnight Sunday November 24th to enter.

Alice on an apron
Monday, August 5, 2013
Hey hey crafty peeps!
Vacation is over and I am getting back on schedule!
Catching up on blogging and all those social media things- so much information
it makes my head spin! All I want to do is create! So here goes!
I got this apron from Marion at CHA, she wanted an Alice painted on it.
There is not a lot of down time for me at these shows,
I had 40 minutes before the show started to pull something together!
So gesso first (of course I was in the Faber -Castell Design Memory Craft booth.)
Then a rough drawing and some Gelato.
More color with Gelatos and a wet paint brush to blend.
This is pretty close to being finished and I got it done in 38 minutes!
However I didn't until now that I did not get a picture of it finished!
( I hate when I do that!)
Well now I have to admit that
I am a bit of a perfectionist. It just didn't look enough like Alice
to me so I had to make some changes...
So when I got home I started with the eyes- I wanted them to be a bit rounder,
making her more cartoonish.
Gesso is a great medium for starting over!- I fixed her eyes, her collar and her bangs!
Added more Gelatos and my own paint brushes. (It's nice to use your own tools.)
I use PITT pens in the blacks of her eyes.
Blending with water.
Yes - I like this much better.
When you have more than 38 minutes you can do highlights.
(gesso mixed with Gelatos)
Tip - I dip a very sharp pencil in gesso for the light i her eyes and lips.
As time was now on my side, I was able to draw some backgrounds;
Like singing flowers.
Hearts and patterns...
This is how the Gelato mixed with water looks without priming the canvas apron
with gesso- it seeps into the fabric. I colored the hearts with Gelatos then spread
the color with a wet paintbrush.
A time piece of course!( A Prima stencil.)
Flowers, drawing the outlines with PITT Artist pens, then spreading the color quickly
with a very wet paintbrush. I know what you're thinking, they are filled with india ink,
they are permanent and waterproof how can that work?
Well if you have coated it with gesso and work VERY QUICKLY you can move
some of the color and still keep those drawn lines visible!
Once it is dry I go back over and draw the faces with the PITT Artist Pens.
Here is the finished result!
I need to go find some red roses,
or maybe white ones and paint some of them red! LOL!
I think I might add them to the bottom or the sides...
not really sure but I think it will add
a little character to the piece!
What do you think?

And thank you for your input on the previous post!
I appreciate all your input!

The girl in the box...
Wednesday, July 17, 2013
This fun little house is only 6 inches tall and it was a
perfect project to use up some scraps!
Of course I had to add one of my girls in there!
See all the cool cracks? I used a thick layer of Ranger Crackle Accents
(in the July kit at
Frog Dog Studio!)
The crackle accents is also on the fence!
I used Bo Bunny papers and made banners to match
with lots of Faber - Castell Design Memory Craft products.
Of course you can't have a little house without one of my girls!
I drew her especially for this project.
Here's a side view!
I hope your having a fun summer with lots of time for creativity!

New Stencils and a canvas bag
Friday, April 5, 2013
Don't you love experimenting with new stencils?
in the background and thought they would go great together.
So I decided to use the
Celestial stencil for the background.
It's nice because of the repeated patterns, you can cover the
entire surface and it looks like one big pattern.
The corners were pretty round so instead of trying to make the stencil fit I opted
So here it is finished, I made a mat for my canvas to go.
I used a fabric glue to adhere it.
And here it is finished!
Where will you use your stencil?

The Sunfairy
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
Hey there bloggers!
Todays project was inspired by one of my followers
"Sunfairy" - isn't that a great online name? For the longest time I wanted to
do something artsy with that and I finally did it!
She is a super sweet lady and I hope she is blessed by this project!
As you can tell I love MiXeD MeDia!
Today I want to focus on a fun technique you might use on one of your projects!
If you click on the photo and make it bigger
take a close look at my sleeping fairy wings!
See how they pop out on the page?
Here is how I did it...
First I drew the basics of my page.
Then I took a Clear Scraps
acrylic sheet, placed it over my image and copied
the wings with a permanent marker. The sheet has a protective film on top
so I was able to draw on the film not leaving any marks on the
the actual wings. This sheet is fairly thin and pliable so I was able to
cut it out with a scissors, then remove the top side of the film.
( I always leave the bottom film on while I am working on my surface.)
This is important, otherwise you will have a big mess on your hands!
(And it will peel off! Boo!)
After the glue is completely dry you can add
"You're so fine glitter"
in copper; you are rubbing in the glitter with your finger.
This is what it will look like. From here I peeled off the film
on the back and used alcohol inks,
but you could leave it this way or use rub ons.
Here is the finished result!
To secure her wings I cut a slit in the paper above her,
tucked in the wings and glued it in with a scrap paper
sandwhiching (is that a word?lol)
the the wings for extra support.
And a close up of the journaling...
This would be a fun technique for angel, ladybugs, dragonflies,
you could even stamp on the acrylic and do this same technique-
but that's another post! :)
