Have you seen me?
Wednesday, July 31, 2013
Hey hey there bloggers!
I got back from CHA then turned around and went on vacation the very next day!
Needless to say I need a vacation from my vacation! I am pooped!
***
Today I am sharing a card that I made for the
Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Booth at CHA.
Didn't see it at CHA ? Well that's because it disappeared
before the show even started. :(
It made it to the booth...and that is the last time I saw it.
I had hoped it would turn up but it never did,
now I have to make a new one to replace it.
But I liked this one and wanted to share it with you.
***
Meanwhile lots of changes in the air- one of the things (for me) about going to CHA
is I take the time to refocus on what I am doing and why.
(That's me behind the counter teaching make and takes!)
So I think some revamping is in order.
I need your help- what would you like to see on my blog?
Do you come because you like...
Tutorials?
Videos?
Tips & techniques?
Altered items?
Mixed media?
Art journals stuff?
using mixed media in your scrapbooks?
Is there something you would like to see that I didn't list?
I know a lot of you come by but don't comment - that's OK
(been there) but I would really love your input before I make some changes
on my blog- if you don't feel comfortable posting you can always email me
just click on my profile (top right hand corner), it will take you to another page
and under my picture click on "email". I would love to hear from you.
I will leave this post up longer than usual- until Mon the 5th.
Please help me out with your feedback!
I value your opinion sweet friends!

SPECtacular...
Monday, July 29, 2013
Hey there creatives- yeah you stalking the artsy, crafty blogs I know you are out there!
Today I have a layout way out of the box- using some new materials! A challenge to myself!
The background is Clear Scraps and the paper is, of course DCWV.- Sunday Afternoon.
So the surpirse material?
Packaging!
My family always saves odds and ends- anything that they think I might use so
yes this packing stuff was added into this layout, attached with a little gel medium.
I have to admit, it was a little hard to work with especially when I tried to color it with
gelatos- when I got it wet I had to not move it because it would fall apart!
Have you tried any weird materials? How did it work for ya?

Artistcellar - the last post
Saturday, July 27, 2013
Hey there artsy people Rita Barakat here!
This was my last Mixed Media Friday and
my last post at
These are 3x3 wood squares, an art project for the youth room at our church!
I pulled out all the stops and used all of the Artistcellar stencils I have!
Here is a close up.
Now for some "in progress" photos...
A little corrugated cardboard and a little wallpaper!
My hubby is very patient- I did 30 panels and these were all
over the living room, dining room and kitchen floor!
Stencils I used:
top- Sacred Geometry,
middle and bottom-
Arabian nights collection,
I used house latex paints for all my bases.
(Sacred Geometry.)
Lots of misting and dripping.
A little bit of splatter going on.
And of course the newest stencil from the Cathedral Plans series -
Notre Dame Plan.
I had alot of fun playing with all these stencils and
I sure hope you enjoyed Mixed media Fridays with me!
Six months sure do fly quickly!
So did CHA Summer! Craft and Connect!
There are so many pictures I put them here
I will be posting more each day till I get them all posted!
Please "like" my page if you want to see them.
I hope you are having a wonderful day-
let me know if you have any questions on this project!

Are you at CHA Vegas?
I am in the Faber- Castell Design Memory Craft booth
so come say hi if you are going!
oh EXCEPT at 12noon(Vegas time)
doing a mystery box live!
Designers will be given 5 minutes to examine the contents of the mystery box and form a plan.
They
will have 15 minutes to "design on the fly" and create a project using
all of the supplies contained in the box LIVE on our show!
Each
designer will pick a winner at the end of their interview to receive
the mystery box contents and the original artwork the designer creates!
You can see it here- http://www.linqto.com/rooms/charitywings
And as promised I will be donating one of my original fairies!
She was made on a Roc Lon drop cloth, with Gelatos, PITT Pens,
Silks acrylics glazes, gesso, Prima flower, glossy accents and Kroma Crackle medium.
The painting is 10 x 25.
The crackle medium.

You can buy tickets- they are raffling off the creations being made by various designers
I am also going to be donating one of my fairy paintings! I will post her on Wed!
Meanwhile here are some up close photos of my apron.
Colored with PITT pens and Gelatos of course.

a layer of gesso first.

The girl in the box...
Wednesday, July 17, 2013
This fun little house is only 6 inches tall and it was a
perfect project to use up some scraps!
Of course I had to add one of my girls in there!
See all the cool cracks? I used a thick layer of Ranger Crackle Accents
(in the July kit at
Frog Dog Studio!)
The crackle accents is also on the fence!
I used Bo Bunny papers and made banners to match
with lots of Faber - Castell Design Memory Craft products.
Of course you can't have a little house without one of my girls!
I drew her especially for this project.
Here's a side view!
I hope your having a fun summer with lots of time for creativity!
