Monday, November 25, 2013
Where does the time go?
It seems like yesterday was the first day of November
and here we are almost at
Thanksgiving Day!
So have you been keeping track of things your are thankful for?
I usually keep a running list but I started the month with a sinus infection, we
passed sickness around the house a few times and after everyone got better
I bit the dust. Fell and I am back in a boot- xrays show its not broken but
this happened on Monday and it's still swollen, sore and I can't put pressure on it.
Torn tendons. So I have another week of this boot and crutches and then I go back happens next.
Whatever happens I still have a lot to be thankful for so her goes my list...
(not necessarily in order)
1 my hubby
2 my children
3 family
4 my friends
5 freedom
6 my salvation
7 our home
8 transportation
9 medical care
10 music
11 art
12 natural abilities
13 technology
14 bible
15 books
16 adoption

19 mountains
20 chai & green tea
21 chocolate
22 cell phones
23 the ladies in my bible study group

Blog Hop with DCWV and Clear Scraps!
Friday, November 22, 2013
Hey there crafty peeps!
joining together to show how fabulous their products are together.
So if you are here for the first time welcome!
And if you are a regular, so glad you are!
I got to work with DCWV's Jolly Whimsy Stack and a Clear Scraps 5 piece banner.
I took lot of pictures so you can see all the fun little details!
I used Staz On directly on the acrylic banner then added
lots of fun accents that I cut out from the Jolly Whimsy stack.
As you can see in this picture there are lots of metallic accents in this stack as well
as really cute images and shades pink and green.
What I love about this stack is that you can use the whole sheets or cut
it up like I did; Can't you imagine these as tags for your Christmas presents?
I actually embossed the acrylic - I wouldn't do this with any acrylic,
there is a little warping and you do have to move fast but it does work.
I wish you could see this in person so you could see how cool the raised
notes and glitter look on the acrylic!
Those itty bitty flags are DCWV too!
I threw these pictures in because you cant see this in the other pictures-
I used DCWV glitter paper to mat everything and look at how it sparkles!
Be sure to leave a comment here and on all the other designers' blogs to be entered to win a Goodie Box from DCWV!There will be 2 winners picked and announced on the DCWV blog.
You have until Midnight Sunday November 24th to enter.

Art Weather girls - winter
Monday, November 18, 2013
Hey sweet creatives how goes things?
Well I was finally able to carve a little creative time into my schedule this
weekend- OK not really, but I did it anyways!
The weather around here this week has been chilly (mornings in the 30's) so I was inspired
to make this winter painting. Of course today it was 87! But that's Texas!
She is one of four weather girls collection I have created.
Here are some pictures in progress...
Drawing on Roc Lon drop cloth, I used gesso for a textured foundation.
Adding color with Gelatos, water and a paint brush- sometimes a little more gesso.
For small spaces, like eyes I like to use PITT Artist Pens and Aquarelles.
I really loved the stark white contrast background so I decided to stay with it.
After she was finished I went and added a bit of blue on the top for the sky,
modeling paste for the snow trees background and Snow Tex for her faux fur hat!
*tip- for small specs of snow use the bacl of a paint brush or sharp white pencil dipped
in gesso to make small random dots. This is also great for eyes.
So how about you? Did you get any creative time for yourself this weekend?
Did you blog about it? If so leave me a link!

Texture, paste Gelatos AND acrylic? Yes!
Thursday, November 14, 2013
Hey hey there bloggers!
Oh my goodness time is just flying by and these days I am spending way
more time on the computer cleaning up files than actually creating.
No fun.
But I am getting there- so close, almost done then I can share what I am up to.
I am working on a portfolio of my art and because I am not a computer person
it is taking a lot longer than I would like!
Meanwhile here is a another two pager I made.
I used DCWV Forever and Always Stack - I don't know if you can tell in the pictures but in
some areas the paper has a matte finish and in some it has iridescent stripes. I also added some
more texture (I love texture) with canvas ribbon, Artisan elements (Pink Paislee),
Blue Fern & Maya Road chipboard & drywall tape,
I colored all my pieces with Gelatos, misted with water and blended with a dry paint brush.
I used acrylic banners in two sizes (Clear Scraps) to make
my title and journal pop off the page!
I also used modeling paste and gesso.
Here are the pages together.
This is my oldest - aka the original baby girl in the family!
Hope you have a blessed day!

Veterans Day, 11th of November and time is flying by!
My thoughts are random today as I write this post.
There are so many things to be thankful for...family, friends, shelter, provision, health,
healing, freedom, there are so many things to be grateful for.
Today is Veterans day and shame on me if I didn't mention the brave
men and women that have served our country - past and present. I am thankful.
We take so many things for granted.
Sometimes you have to fight & stand up for what you believe in.
I have been doing a study on Elijah and tomorrow is our last class.
We used Charles Swindoll's book "Elijah",a man of heroism and humility".
I learned a lot. About others, about myself and people in general.
(I just finished the book this book this morning~ tomorrow is our last class.)
I have never been one for history but it was very interesting to me
as people do not change. We make the same mistakes as they did then.
We are so blessed to live in a free world and we take that for granted -
Elijah (alone) had to stand up for what was right against the king and his men.
Every time the kings men could have taken his life for his defiance of the king.
But he was doing what God called him to do.
COURAGE
I think if how many times was I supposed to do something and didn't and yet
young men and women go off to war everyday and do things that we don't
even want to talk about ?
BRAVE
Or worse we dishonor their sacrifice by taking them for granted or not giving
them respect for their sacrifice. Yes it's their choice , but we all reap the benefits.
So today I say
THANK YOU
for those who serve and have served our country.
We may not be where we want to be as a country
but we are a free country and that is something that we should all be very grateful for!
Have a blessed day!

Whats going on?

Good morning bloggers!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! We had a mixture of events
here- impromptu photo shoot,
lots of computer technical stuff work (boo), sickness(boo),
I was a part of a concert (yay)...here I am in blue and black!
((love singing but I hate seeing pictures of myself!)
On Halloween hubby and I went out to dinner at Texas Road House and the waiters
were all dressed up and look at how cute this girl was...
Her name is Jessica and she made her own own costume including the hat which
was totally adorable and what caught my eye to begin with!
She said she made it it out of burlap, stuck it in a glue mixture- half glue and half water,
then formed the hat as it was drying. She said it was easy and she's not really that creative-
umm what? I think she totally is! Seriously ! This is so darling, I already went and bought
some burlap, you know I am not opposed to making three hats for three unsuspecting kids
to wear on Thanksgiving just for some fun pictures! LOL!
And yes I already bought the burlap this weekend too!
Stay tuned!!!
