Hello to all,

             I will just take 5 minute to share with you my opinion this latest read because after doing the intendance for a Chtullu roleplaying game ( 24h) i'm completely out and i just want a such deserved nap..... i don't think i will be able to cook anything for a week at least i'm beaten, worn out...

So there are books that just the blurb makes you want to read them, with a main idea, plot  original and really interesting...but that don't meet your expectations and sadly for me Mortal Kiss was one of those. I don't regret to have tried this author but at least for now i won't continue this journey. However now that you have gotten my feeling let see my opinion in more details

My opinion:

          I had this book on my shelves for several years now and i had been really interested when i was reading the blurb but at the end  i must say that i’ve been quite disappointed...the story isn’t bad per say but it didn’t work at all for me.

There were time when i did get immersed in the story but it didn’t last, for me there were too many things that were not working so even if the idea behind the book was good i could not stay focused or immersed in the story. The author managed to surprise me a little yes but not enough.

Faye is an interesting character and we do get immediately that she must have something special along with her aunt and the author does tell us what it is. Globaly, she is the character the most well build and the one with who i could relate or at least understand the most. She is loyal and determined.

Liz.... i didn’t like her at some point but since she was perhaps not herself i could let go but then i would really love to know if it was really her or not. Anyway, Faye consider her as a friend and while i didn’t think she was acting like one at the most critical point i’m not disliking her.

Lucas...  i don’t want to do spoiler but you do guess quickly that something is amiss... and then Finn.... he was the one that disappointed me the most....he is supposed to be matureand deeply, truly in love with Faye.. yet he is the one rushing to the ennemy at the first occasion “just to see” and even worse...he finds his soulmate after such a long time searching, one that he lost  in the past...so kind of one second last chance....and he accepts to give it up like that. Someone tells him it’s teh only way to save people so love doesn’t matter let sacrifice it.  I’m not saying it could not be an honorable thing to do but look at it that way: you finally find the one you have been searching for and you don’t even hesitate before renouncing , you don’t try to fight for her you just “ oh oki let sacrifice it”... for me it doesn’t make sense at all. It’s too irrealistic and too sudden.

Same goes for the ending...without telling you how it end the characters go back to their life like nothing happened,quite unmoved.. like it was perfectly normal....it’s too unbelievable. There is also a medium cliffhanger but really i didn’t even care for it.. the story was good but no more  as i think teh author missed soem point.... for example Faye looses her phone..so far nothing bad about it but then a few hours after Liz calls her... we only know later that she switched back to her older phone, that i can accept but then how Liz knew which number to call? She didn’t know she had lost her phone since they were not talking to each other....it’s a detail yes but there are other and  when piled together it makes me loose any interest..and i’m really not tempted to spend any cent to get the next one, perhaps the story gets better yes but  i prefer to focus on something else.

                I'm so happy to be back  really i missed you!  Sorry to have disappeared last week, i had this review ready for you but my computer suddenly crashed so  i was put on hold until i got it back yesterday evening....worse...that cut my reading frenzy as well because since i was not sure if what i wrote was safe i did not dare to read something new in case i had to re read the book to write the review again ( i need to finish what i start before starting a new one^^;;)

So let get back on track and i will continue with my idea to alternate between new and following up series, today we continue with Jane Yellowrock and the sixth instalment.

My opinion:

          I’m a little uncertain about this book…. Oh I did love it , it’s well written and fit the other instalment really well… even if I did want to go back rereading some of the precedents books as I seemed not to be able to recall what the character remembered. However that’s not what has me hesitant… you see…. I guess I fear what will happen next ^^;;

And it’s partially strange as this books come to a conclusion and there is no major deaths ( oki in jane yellowrock universe it means a lot of dead or/and true dead but not one of the main characters^^;;) ;)I mean it could even classify as an happy ending …or at least a teary moving one and I really liked but some elements make me fear

the worse like Bobby ‘s dreams ( those being prophetic),Soul unknown powers, Beast’s revelation and lastly Leo…

We don’t see a lot of the Master Vampire this time but we hear from him and… I don’t trust him at all…^^;; it’s strange all the reservations I have this character but really he ticks me off, he is so arrogant and so often plotting in Jane’s Back that I just want to strangle him…. The forced binding is adding to that feeling of course but I do understand how Jane must feel… the author really managed to makes us feel the same as her on that case think;)

Now don’t get me wrong… I’m not liking Rick Lafleur either…. Bruiser… has me feeling betrayed too….and while I Love Eli^^ he is family to Jane not a mate prospect…. So really her love life is problematic. ;)

 I did smile while reading this book because Eli and Jane work wonderfully together and Eli and Sylvia^^ those are really a match for each other…. I do wonder where Eli get all his weapon and could imagine him comparing them with Sylvia^^;;

The banter between those is simply too much to resist!

Eli’s brother found a geek friend as well and I do hope he will get to stay as it’s a great team to have backing you up. Those two are gods with a computer.

The main investigation was also quite interesting and the author managed to surprise us. All while the author gave us a better insight into Jane as she is coping with the lost of her friends and the guilt (which she is always carrying by the way) it was interesting to learn more about her childhood and more precisely her relations with other children. Beast was also moving in her way to protect the kits^^;; and wanting to keep them for her.

All together it was a really captivating reads and only the dread I got building it at the end prevent me to give an higher note ( I don’t like being left with angst  after reading).

So if you love this series this is really a book not to miss but better have the next one ready to jump into ( and please don’t start with this one or you would be completely lost)

           Today i return to my favourite paranormal creatures: shifters and more precisely werewolves.... i had read the epiloge of this series last years since it was a free christmas novella but i wanted to learn more so when this book 1 was free i jumped on it ... we can see how the writing improved between both i think. Still i enjoyed it and i'm glad to share my opinion about The Cajun's Captive with you^^ ( i love the setting!)

My opinion:

          I really loved the Christmas novella I’ve read ( and reviewed already) which is kind of an epilogue for this series and I wanted to discover more so when I saw that book 1 was free on smashwords I didn’t hesitate I wanted to see more of the Cajun brother and how they got their mate.

Selena Blake did well but I’m a little disappointed, there isn’t the magical feeling from the other novella and The Cajun’s Captive is really and I mean really more steamy that than the other. Oh don’t get me wrong, I liked this novella and it’s quite well written but it’s simply really different that what I hoped to find.

Sebastian is a lonely alpha and in fact he is pinning for a woman for more than 10years but he is also a really domineering alpha, too controlling in my tastes and while all is consensual it’s still a little too much for me. Yes it’s a novella and thus it needed to resolve quickly but there are things bothering me… for example he doesn’t really reveal what he is to her, he even try at first to make her forget or not believe what she saw…. Only after, he tells Amanda  her role in the pack but it’s too late and too little for me. I mean the secrecy is important but they are werewolves that means something, there are rules and just and he loves her but simply drop her in the storm without knowledge to protect her.( metaphorically speaking of course)

So for me the love part was really too rushed, yes they are adults, yes they knew each other before but they were separated for 9 years after all so it could have taken a little longer and Sebastian could have been a little less caveman ( because yes he is!!)

Also, the other brothers and family members are a little too happy or not concerned with what happen ^^, some think they love her too but nothing is said, they let Sebastian do what he wants. He is the alpha yes but no one thought to protect or inform Amanda… a little strange to me. But really it was a quick and good little story, it just could have been even better.

So if you are looking for a quick fix in paranormal romance, want something really steamy and werewolf, you could give this a try! ( the Christmas novella is sweeter^^)

Tales of an Urban Werewolf tome3: "Leader of the Pack" par Karen Mac Inerney

                 voici enfin la fin de la trilogie de Karen MacInerney Tales of an Urban Werewolf intitulé " Leader of The Pack"

Histoire: Le passé revient frapper à la porte lorsque Sophie découvre son père, venu de France, dans son bureau. Pour elle, ce n'est qu'un inconnu qui l'a lâchement abandonnée et envoyée loin avec sa mère. Selon cette dernière c'était une mesure de protection car la meute dont il était membre ne tolérait pas les métis mais Sophie ne s'est jamais satisfaite de cette réponse.
Or le voilà de retour et qui plus est en tant que chef de sa meute en France qui lui fait des tas de promesses et s'attend à ce qu'elle le suive ou prenne le contrôle aux Etats-Unis. La colère et la rancune grondent.

Il s'agit du moment du grand rassemblement des diverses meutes, un moment où tout combat est interdit, trêve générale oblige. Malheureusement, un meutre est commsi et le coupable idéal semble être le père de Sophie qui justement est un vieil ennemi de Wolfgang, l'alpha du coin: la sentence prévue la mort.
Sophie doit choisir son camp ou plutôt la façon de régler la situation: sauvera-t-elle on père elle même ou prends t-elle le commandement de la meute de France et déclenche une guerre pour le sauver?

Reste aussi, le problème de son soupirant démoniaque qui connait son identité et chercher à la conquérir pour de bon: âme incluse. Avec l'aide de sa mère elle essaie de trouver la parade. Séparée Heath, elle se verra contrainte de faire appel à lui malgré tout.


Avis: On  apprécie d'avoir un peu plus d'informations sur le passé de Sophie et de découvrir la véritable nature de tous les protagonistes ainsi que les liens entre eux.  L'intrigue est bien menée et le suspens présent mais pas étouffant.
Heath apparait également enfin sous un jour positif et un peu moins idiot. Il accepte même de prendre des risques pour Sophie alors que leur histoire est définitivement finie.

Les relations entre les différentes meutes sont largement expliquées ce qui aide au récit sans l'alourdir. On comprends mieux les intéractions des personnages et l'importance de leur réaction.
Sophie fait aussi enfin un choix de vie et c'est appréciable. Elle ne tergiverse plus et ne renonce pas pour autant à ses convictions. Le caractère des personnages reste cohérent avec le récit
Pourtant, Karen n'arrive pas à me captiver autant que dans le tome deux, je n'ai pas non plus apprécier la fin du récit qui en quelque sorte ne conclue pas l'histoire comme on l'aurait voulu. Soudainement, plus aucun choix n'est définitif? Pour moi, ce n'était pas la fin que cette histoire méritait et j'ai donc eu beaucoup de regret en fermant le livre ce qui a diminuer la note finale que j'accorde à ce livre.

Au final: bonne série dans son ensemble mais à choisir un seul volume, mon choix est sans conteste le volume deux qui peut très bien être lu indépendement des autres et est selon moi bien mieux écrit.

Résumé: Sophie Garou a enfin commencé a accepter ce qu'elle est. Ses instincts sont exacerbés atisés par son très gros client texan célibataire et très courtisé qui semble vouloir passer plus de temps avec elle à parler qu'à travailler. Au même moment, son petit ami est aperçu sortant d'une bijouterie alors qu'il passe de plus en plus de nuit à travailler au bureau. sophie s'interroge sur l'exactitude de ses intuitions et besoins.

Comme un souci n'arrive jamais seul, la meute de la région a prit connaissance de son existence et exige qu'elle remplisse une mission pour prouver son allégiance ou peut-être acquérir un droit de séjour sur le territoire car pour eux on est des leurs ou on est un ennemis pas de demi mesure.

Histoire: Cette fois, Sophie se retrouve confrontée à la meute sur le territoire de laquelle elle réside, la meute de Houston. Or pour la meute et son couple d'alpha soit elle se soumet et est des leurs , ce qui signifie entre autre céder tous ses biens, ou bien elle est contre eux et sera détruite. Les messagers sont clairs.
Pour une indépendante comme Sophie  la ligne de conduite à adopter est très ténue aussi accepte-t-elle une mission: retrouver le frère du chef qui a disparu lors d'une enquête sur une meute rivale. Si elle réussit elle sera peut-être tolérée sinon elle mourra si cette mission ne la tue pas avant.

Sur le plan privé "humain" cela n'est pas tout rose non plus. Son avocat chéri passe de plus en plus de temps au bureau tard le soir avec sa secrétaire que Sophie ne peut pas sentir -littéralement- et elle l'a aperçut sortant d'une bijouterie avec un boitier. Tout serait pour le mieux si dans le même temps, son richissisme client célibataire ne la rendait pas folle avce ses allusions et attentions. Jamais deux sans trois: son beau loup aux yeux dorés de passage met toujours ses hormones en ébulition même si il sort avec sa meilleure amie.

Avis: Intrigues, enquête, romance, humour, tout y est et justement dosé. On entre enfin en profondeur dans les relations lupines qui s'avèrent très politiques. Sophie doit apprendre et vite et même si elle reçoit de l'aide de son mystérieux loup solitaire indépendant il ne peut pas toujours être là pour elle.
Le danger se fait encore plus présent lorsqu'elle doit espionner une meutre adverse car elle s'est découvert et a été découverte comme ayant un pouvoir spéciale une sorte de bouclier qui la rend indétectable.

Sophie se retrouve aussi à devoir gérer ses groupies qui lui seront toutefois bien utiles. Côté coeur, il balance et fort. très attirée par  monsieur loup-garou elle est à la fois jalouse et inquiète pour sa meilleure amie. Pourtant, dans le même temps elle ne sait plus trop comment réagir avec son petit ami qui la délaisse pour travailler tard le soir avec sa secrétaire de plus en plus souvent alors que son client lui fait du charme et se montre très jaloux et entreprenant.

Cette fois les personnages sont bien construits et l'alchimie prend effet. On s'interroge sur ce client mystérieux et si peux intéressé par son travail. Sophie comme a accepter ses sentiments qu'elle découvre que celui qu'elle pensait libre a jeté son dévolu sur son amie. Enfin, la realité de ses doutes sur une relation normale avec un humain se concrétise avec l'arrivée d'une rivale qui, même si on n'est pas pour que cette realtion dure, concentre notre antipathie et rancune.

Les personnages secondaires apportent aussi une bonne bouffée d'humour lorsque c'est nécessaire sans pour autant nuire au suspense et la tension présente dans le récit.

Une excellente lecture qui peut plaire à beaucoup de fan de changeformes et loup-garous.

Tales of an Urban Werewolf tome 1: Howling at the Moon par Karen MacInerney

                           Puisque je suis coincée à l'intérieur, et malade comme un chien, je vais en profiter pour vous faire découvrir une nouvelle trilogie cette semaine  " Tales of an Urban Wereworlf" écrite par Karen MacInerney en commençant bien sur par le tome 1: Howling At the Moon. 
A noter que cette trilogie n'existe qu'en anglais à ce jour.

Needless to say, life among yummy flesh-and-blood humans is no piece of steak . . . er, cake!, but regular doses of wolfsbane tea and a mother who runs a magic shop have helped Sophie keep her paranormal pedigree under wraps. Still, when a sexy, golden-eyed werewolf prowls into town, Sophie finds herself struggling to keep her animal impulses in check–not to mention trying to keep things on track with her super hot (and super human) lawyer boyfriend. What’s more, someone is threatening to expose Sophie for what she really is. And when her mother is accused of selling a poison-laced potion, Sophie must sniff out a culprit before the fur hits the fan.

 Traduction: Sophie Garou semble tout avoir pour elle: un bon poste dans une sciété de comptabilité prestigieuse, un placard qui rivalise avec la salle d'exposition de Nordstrom, et un terrifiant petit ami qui n'est pas effrayé par la mot mariage. il y a juste ce tout petit petit problème: sophie est un loup-garou et son moment du mois à une toute autre signification.

Cela va s'en dire que vivre dans un monde de succulents humains n'est pas évident. mais des doses régulière d'infusion d'aconit et une mère qui tient une boutique de magie ont aidé Sophie a gardé son pédigré paranormal sous control. Toutefois, lorsqu'un sexy loup-garou aux yeux dorés se ballade en ville, Sophie peine a garder ses instincts bestiaux sous contrôle sans oublier de faire marcher les choses avec son super sexy ( et terriblement humain) petit ami avocat. Comme si ça ne suffisait pas; quelqu'un menace de révéler la vraie nature de Sophie. Et sa mère est accusée d'avoir vendu une potion empoisonnée, Sophie doit pister le coupable avant que la fourure ne prenne le dessus.


Histoire: Comme le résumé le laisse entendre, il va s'agir d'une enquête mêlée de romance et de paranormal. Sophie est un loup-garou mais ayant été élevée par une mère magicienne et non loup-garou elle s'ignore principalement et cherche à vivre comme un humain. Petit ami avocat qui n'a pas peur de s'engager mais qui travail énormément, un emploi dans une grande entreprise,et une bonne copine pour échanger des râgots en apparence rien de plus humain.
Mais voilà pour les loup-garous la pleine lune n'est pas le seul handicap, en effet pour maintenir une apparence humaine normale il leur faut également se raser plusieurs fois par jour ou leur système pileux les trahis.

Sophie était parvenue jusqu'à présent à maintenir sa nature cachée à l'aide de tisanes et de beaucoup de contrôle cependant, un beau mâle loup garou arrive en ville et tout s'envole. Elle se retrouve face à des instincts tout nouveaux et au coeur d'un dilemne: son petit ami ou son côté animal. Le tout en tentant de résoudre deux gros problème: sa mère est accusée de meutre et on essaie la harcèle en menaçant de révéler sa nature de loup-garou. Beaucoup à faire et de l'aide à trouver car le temps ne joue pas en sa faveur.

Avis: Le concept était très intéressant toutefois sa réalisation laisse à désirer. On a ici une nouvelle version de loup-garous qui ne sont pas obligés de se transformer à chaque pleine lune, du moins s'ils prennent de l'aconit pour contrôler les transformations.dans le même temps, une semi transformation menace à tout instant sous la forme de poussées pileuses énormes et quotidiennes, encore plus fréquente sous l'effet des émotions fortes ou de la proximité des phases de la lune.
Une loup-garou qui doit tout apprendre et lutter contre ses préjugés grâce à un prof tout sexy. Et bien sur un triangle amoureux pour faire balancer le tout entre ce qu'elle veut être et ce qu'elle est. Oh et si vous avez été transformé en loup-garou ce n'est pas définitif, on peut tout effacer.
Paranormal et magie, personnages assez bien construit bien que sur des clichés.

Tout y était mais voilà....la magie ne prends pas vraiment. Pour moi la faute vient principalement des répétitions non nécessaires de descriptions. A combien de reprise, on nous réexplique le système pileux du loup garou et les effets de l'aconit. Elle s'adonne souvent aux même monologues et cela tue l'histoire. le contexte était établit et à force d'insister desuus on déccroche de l'histoire elle- même.

Si j'avais commencé par ce volume, je n'aurai probablement pas continué la série car je suis forcée d'admettre que j'ai même voulu arrêter en cours par moment. Un point positif toutefois, les divers romans peuvent se lire indépendamment les uns des autres. Certes  il y a un fils rouge mais Karen MacIrnerney a bien réussi à faire vivre ses romans séparement.
Alors un conseil: si vous voulez lire la série lisez la bien dans l'ordre mais accrochez vous. Si vous ne devez choisir qu'un tome...passez votre chemin la suite sera meilleure
