Shamrock Hat

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I was actually looking for some cool screen savers, and Mixbook backgrounds.  When I cam across this picture.  I thought it would make a great decoration.  To go with my "Oh So Lucky Plaque" and "Lucky Jar"  I bought some crackle paint over the weekend. I was originally going to use it on some wooden eggs.  (I may have to buy some more).  But instead used the whole bottle on this picture.

I painted the background in an antique white. Let that dry, then used the crackle paint.  I let that dry for 6 hours, it was pretty thick.  I'm liking' the crackle look .   I cheated and used Cricut-"Celebrate with Flourish" to trace on the shamrocks. And "A Child's Year" for the Irish Hat.  I did however freehand the swirls.  Tee Hee.  The ribbon around the hat is for real.  It was yellow, I used a gold ink pad to color it, and added a ribbon thingy for the buckle.  I have it displayed on one of my front room tables, I just love it.

St Patrick’s Day Jar

As I was looking around my house, I decided I didn't have enough St. Patrick's day decorations.
After the Lucky Plaque, I wanted to make this for my coffee table.

I used Folk Art and Americana enamel gloss paints. This particular glass craft I did not bake in the oven. I did spray it with a clear coat though. At first I just painted it white, with the green clover. as seen on Pinterest.  I'm not done yet, I thought.  I added some stripes, and some polka dots.  The shamrock is a stencil, cut from Celebrate with Flourish.  When St Patricks day gets closer, I will get some real carnations to put in it.  For now the material ones will do.

Hope you have a great day.

Oh So Very Lucky Plaque

My Bestie, saw this cute decoration idea on Pinterest. The wheels started turning.  How can we do this?  Well.... My girlfriend runs a trucking company, and has plenty of pallets.  We just had to cut them, sand them a little, drill some holes, hook them together.  Seemed like a very fun project, so we shared the idea with the girls.  Everyone was on board, and it became craft night.  First we painted white all over the boards, used a stencil to draw on the phrase. I used my Cricut to cut the stencil, details below.  We used acrylic paint to add some color.  The shamrock is simply made of paper.  I cut out 3 per board, and used decoupage to glue them each other,  add a top coat, punch a couple holes in it...voila a button.  I added a brad to minion the shamrock, some hemp to the bottom, and a metal tag.  Then coated the whole plaque with a clear coat.  I am so happy with this project.  It was fun to hang out, and make such a cute decoration.  It also happened to be national wine day, of course we celebrated that too.

Sunny Bunny

I bought this cartridge when I re-vamped my kitchen.  I wanted it for the wine bottle.  That was several months ago, and I have yet to cut out the wine bottle.  Oh well, I did pull out "Celebrate with Flourish" to make this cute card for my Soon to be mother and father in law.  These guys are wonderful, I am so happy to be joining their family.  I feel very lucky to have them in my life. They've got a lot of love to share.  I used Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge to engage my creativity.  This cartridge has some great images.  I really love all the flourish that goes with it.  I also pulled out some retired SU papers.  I think they go together pretty well.  Love you Terry & Judy hope you have a wonderful Easter.  Sorry, we can't spend it together like last year.
